    WHAT TYPE OF HAND CONTROLS ARE YOU USING?...I HAVE A 2008 MUSTANG V6 WITH AUTO TRANS!...THANKS AND GOD BLESS AMERICA! 🇺🇸 😇

  • @VernSea0168
    @VernSea01686 күн бұрын

    Honestly my hand controls were stripped from a professionally built handicap accessible van. My dad is a very hands-on farmer and he just took the Hand Controls out of my minivan and transferred them over. So I couldn’t tell you what kind they are or anything like that. I just know they are professional grade, Hand Controls installed professionally into a minivan to begin with. Hope this helps. You can also get portable Hand Controls off of Amazon for like $200 give or take or you can go the expensive route and have them professionally installed, but that is really expensive. Many people I know, have the portable Hand Controls that they just bought off of Amazon or Walmart. Hope this helps.

    Just seems that the mechanics fail. Taunie has great strength and stamina. The chair is at fault. It doesn’t even lock itself. Chair should be voice activated. It should offer Taunie a ride up. She could roll onto a conveyor belt. It should be a steam shovel scoop. A vending machine at the mall is more intuitive…the overhead claw is activated to pick up a stuffed toy. A slant board drop-down , lifts up two feet, allowing for her to skootch before it retracts. Help is on the way. Genetic engineering, Taunie will walk and run.

I just this week posted a video on my channel showing me having to get back into my all-terrain offroad wheelchair after getting hopelessly stuck while on a 4-mile solo hike through the forest. Although I still have a little bit of use of my remaining leg, I can definitely relate!@@VernSea0168

    Hi Taunie, I found your channel because I was researching suprapubic catheters -- my mom had an episode of acute kidney injury that put her in hospital after I found her unconscious here at home. I thought she'd had a stroke. So did the EMTs and ER doctor. Her tests for stroke were negative. Fortunately, 2 days later it was discovered that she was retaining urine (residual after voiding was 700ccs!!) The day after a catheter was placed, she went from delirious to her regular self. The Urologist we took her to was an @ss#ole, so we're taking her Thursday to one I'm hoping will educate mom and help her understand that having a urinary catheter isn't the end of the world. I'm mom's caregiver & a retired RN. I hope to share information with mom to help her understand if she needs a catheter always, a suprapubic catheter could be her best option. It's baby steps for now. Your video about changing your superapubic catheter is very well done. I think mom would be less intimidated if she saw how it. Thank you for that video! I understand how hard it can be to be a caregiver for someone with Alzheimer's Disease. My brother-in-law had it and passed 2 years ago. Caring for him aged my sister due to fatigue and burnout. I am very impressed with the care you, your dad, and sister give your mom. It is hard sometimes to deal with an older parent who is moody, cruel, or controlling. My mom has no signs of Alzheimer's, but hasn't been a very nice person for many decades. I cry about it sometimes. I try to remember that emotions are transient, that I don't have to react to a mean comment, and I can control my reactions, not give in to them. Still, it's difficult. Thank you for posting this video. I think we all struggle to do the right thing in all situations. I sometimes fail, but keep trying. Best wishes from a California grandma. God bless you always.

  • @VernSea0168

    Of course I’m glad my superpubic video could come in handy to so many people I never thought in my wildest dreams it would get so many views. It sure is hard to get used to having a catheter and yes, if it is not taken care of, they can spout, delirious symptoms such as dementia and Alzheimer’s. I have heard about that. Yes it is hard dealing with my moms Alzheimer’s. I try to keep my head up and praise God for the little blessings. For I believe everything happens for a reason. I’m still helping with her, although her bouts of being mean and cruel are getting worse especially when she gets upset. I deal with her like I would a child and tell her I don’t deserve your attitude. I’m only here to help, so can we please have a good day? She usually changes her tune and we have a good day. I have learned some tricks over the years to help combat her negative attitude. It’s been a struggle, but I pray to God I never have to use these tools again. It’s been a rough road for sure. Have you ever heard of this song? “help me remember“ by Hayes Carll? It’s a great reminder that it is a disease and to hate that disease not the person.

  • @OceanSwimmer
    @OceanSwimmer Жыл бұрын

    @@VernSea0168, Thank you so much for your kind and thoughtful response. I will look up the song you mentioned by Hayes Carll! Thank you for that, too! Music really is The Doctor, another manifestation of God's Divine Grace....there are many of these everywhere, but I think you know that already. I am grateful my sisters came last week and gave me several days of respite. The first two days I slept round the clock except for the time necessary to empty mom's Foley bag (and teach them how to do it, with limited success). They did all they could, which was plenty. I miss tending mom's garden, which I planted years back with very colorful plants. The garden is one refuge for me..swimming is another. Both are off my calendar for the time being. Mom was discharged from hospital Feb 27th, so I'm still in the "learning to be efficient" phase. Home Health has been good, but requires some juggling between my schedule (I have appointments, too) and mom's appointments. In a few hours I will discuss this week's plan with the HH Scheduler. We're booked for 3 different visits 2 days this week. A bit overwhelming for mom at 97 years. I like your approach to your mom's negativity; simple, truthful, and fair. Good for you! I'll "borrow a page from your playbook" and use that when needed. I know God has made plans for each being, every person without exception. I frequently remind myself that as a rule, people are doing the best they are able, with only a minority of exceptions....and those aren't my business. Thank you for sharing your life, AND 'shining your Light' on a daily/hourly basis. A life devoted to Service isn't easy, but there's nothing like it. DO keep posting your videos, please. They help in ways you couldn't imagine, especially for caregivers. Stay strong, and God bless you always. ❤️🏞️

    Thanks for doing these videos. Also for the ones transferring in and out of bed. I have had MS for over 30 years and found you from your suprapubic catheter video. Thank you for that video too as there isn't that much on KZread for people that are thinking about it!. I retain a lot and it's either SPC or dealing with wet pull-ups every couple hours. It's getting harder and harder to stand up to transfer. It's exhausting and I feel all I do is change my wet clothes all day. I was able to see your SPC coming off of the commode chair in this video, but I had a question. How do you sleep with it? Do you use a night bag and how do you hang it? I am a side sleeper facing into the bed t and n I'm just trying to picture how the catheter tube would look? And would it pull? I have scoliosis so I'm trying to see if my surgeon can put it up a little higher because I lean to one side 😳. I hope you're doing well. Thanks

    You’re so welcome and if you face away from the edge of the bed get yourself a leg strap that hooks to your thigh. It’s just a thigh strap for holding the SP in place is all and if you face away from the edge of the bed just put the thigh strap on and put the catheter through the loop upside down so to speak it will drain that way I’ve done that for years and I have a hanger the is in between my mattress and the box frame that the bag hangs on. As for what I use, yes I use a night bag I find the bigger 4000 ml ones by bard work best as I chug four bottles of water before I go to bed. I also have a bucket that the bag hangs over in case the bag breaks, leaks, or I don’t get it closed off properly. As me anything you’d like I’ll try to help. Taunie, I totally understand the frustrations you go through on a daily basis. My wife has MS which was finally diagnosed after six back surgeries. Her legs are frozen in the seating position which means she sleeps on her back with her legs supported by dense foams in pillow form in pillowcases. Pat has limited use of her left hand, arthritis. I have designed a five-inch high-density foam seat cushion so she can be in her mobility chair all day. We have decided that I should be doing her "foley" instead of the hospital. It's a half a day project once a month, more often if the balloon deflates. Your video gave me the courage to do that, thank you! We are both retired, but I try to make her life as interesting and joyful as possible. I find learning how to be helpful to my wife through her disability a bit sad because everything I've learned/invented will not be passed on. God Bless you on your journey. Pat & Gary

    I believe you are correct it is muscular dystrophy! Agreed on the fact that there or not many young women out there with a disability willing to share their disability! I am glad you found my video and liked it! Thank you for commenting

    Yahh I guess it's more rare then I thought! But ya I'm trying to her out there, and she said she would make videos to share what her life is like, from like transfers, and how we do transfers from like her chair to my car, and like u know more or less "day in my life w. FSH MD", so see this is know inspired her more to wanna so this, and I think it would make her feel soo much better because she's been down lately and I've 🧠 storming on something do get her out of this dark cloud she's been under for a min 😔
