  Agreed, we are based in KL and visit Batu Caves on the pre Thaipusam days. For the eve and Thaipusam day itself, we are always at Ipoh due to the great vibe.

So, in our practices, offering things like alcohol, cigars, and other meaningful items is akin to giving gifts to our deities. It's more about showing devotion and building a spiritual connection, not really looking for favors. Regarding 'conscious promises,' we're not expecting some big commitment. For us, it's more about seeking blessings, not asking for favors, which can get a bit mixed up. It's all about that spiritual connection and guidance. Might seem a bit different, but in our faith, it means a lot. Hope this has provided some kind of insights or confirmation! I don't speak for everyone, but this is what I was brought up learning. 🙏✨ Thanks for your understanding and the chance to share our perspective!

  Again, it depends on your locality and community. No matter where it started. I am not shocked by this as I had grown up witnessing this practice ever since I was a child. I respect that you are not fond of it. But also hope that you respect how others would like to practice what they are doing.   ..Masih ingat semasa di bangku sekolah. Kami terdiri dari 3 orang Melayu, 02 berbangsa Cina, 01 Serani & 04 orang India, telah mengikuti dan mengirigi teman sekelas kami yang berbangsa India, menunaikan hajat keluarganya dengan membawa Kavadi. Mula2 merasa agak bimbang juga, tapi setelah di terangkan olih teman2 India dalam kumpulan kami, perasaan bimbang itu sedikit demi sedikit terhakis. PEOPLE ARE AFRAID OF WHAT THEY DO NOT UNDERSTAND! Sebaliknya kami lebih memahami dan merasa lebih hormat pada Agama & Budaya nya. Yang lebih menyeronok , kami dapat Kacang Kuda & makanan vegetarian yang sedap2 secara percuma. Kumpulan kami masih lagi berhubung walaupun kami masing2 telah mempunyai keluarga. Ini lah uniknya MALAYSIA!.
