We are Robert, Gail, and our four-legged companion Terra. We possess a strong desire to wander.
We were tent campers for many years and in 2009 decided to "get off the ground." After some time researching "the Google," we chose a Little Guy 5-Wide teardrop trailer. It spoke to us; that was who we were at that point in time. We traveled the country in our Little Guy and loved it, but over time, decided we needed more room.
Again, after searching the Google, we discovered the R-Pod; it also spoke to us. We loved it too. What we found out is that we didn’t know how much room we needed until we didn’t have it in the R-Pod. After searching the Google again, we settled on a Jay Feather 24T, and we think we got it right this time.
This vlog is about our wanderings, traveling with our Jay Feather, and making modifications and upgrades to become "half-time RVers," as we prepare for retirement to a wan-der-lust lifestyle, in the not too distant future.

Superior vid. Thanks brother.
Wow, I love it !!!!
You are lucky you didn't run into wires. We did. Spliced and rerouted so took some time.
Wondering what your thoughts are about adding a window to a camper with metal siding? The donor window is out of a fibreglass type camper like yours
How did you figure out if any wiring or framework wasn’t in that area?
Sweet added mine today. Great video $209.95 on Amazon right now
That is beautiful, super effective in the space. Good use of the template. Now I am worried about cutting through the existing framing in the panel, and in whether I need to add new framing within the panel to support the window. That doesn't seem to have been an issue in your cause. How did it hold up?
All good 👍🏼
Awesome y'all!
Short and to the point...I loved it!!! Thanks for sharing
The air flow is probably just as valuable as the new view!! Love it
Awesome job. Courage and skill....I don't get why the manufacturers aren't putting windows on the front as well...
Hows it holding up? I'm about to do it.
All good.
@@wanderlust101 ah shit now I actually have to then 😆
Nice video! We are going there tomorrow 8/27/23.
Great vid! Where did you source your new window from?
Jayco dealer
Love the music
Great job, honey! 😆❤ Surprised the window didn't come with a stencil for the cut. Gives me confidence I can do my own!
Looks great!!
Looks like a nice camp 👍🏽
Ummm...those are probably the easiest door panels to remove. Not sure what he thought was so difficult?? Takes about 3 min.
You are a brave man! :). Awesome job!
I don't know if I would do this. I don't want to hear such loud birds every time I turn on the faucet..
You couldn't stand that accumulator up instead of laying it flat?
This a friendly reminder to keep your pets leashed while visiting. Or anywhere for that matter. Thank you for using proper dog owner etiquette. The general public, along with many other dog owners appreciate your help with this matter.
You don't need a accumulator tank with the 4008 serious
Plastic bottom not glass and yes the shurflo 2088 vs the 4008 is a Big difference I swapped the 2088 for the 4008 what a different
Nice!
Thanks!!!!
Thank you for posting this!
Watchers Be warned... this video emphasizes unnecessary templating when you can just use tape and pencil and disregards framing..
thanks very helpful, was all the wires all ready ran to the back? mine are but there's no power to the brake (blue wire) in the 7 pin. I'm guessing this fix's it . do you have a part number for the wire adapter?
Mine was pre wired, all I did was plug it in. I’ve found this Ford truck forum to be very helpful. www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php
@@wanderlust101 I seen it was pre-wired but there was an adapter going from your truck wiring to the brake controller. That's what I was wondering if you had a part number for that or if you had a store somewhere I could buy all that
Wow...its really that easy. Thank You for the inspiration.
Adding the window really was a great improvement. I'm considering replacing a couple windows with larger ones. Were you concerned about cutting into/weakening any structural framing - if there is such a thing?
Question - our RV manufacturer won’t give us the plans to our rig. Any advice on how to find where to safely cut a skylight in your roof WITHOUT the plans?
Great question to which I don’t have an answer. What kind of rig to you have?
@@wanderlust101 we have a Heartland North Trail 22RBK. They said it’s company policy that they can’t share the CAD drawings or blueprints 😞 We have a large space free of lights, vents or speakers right next to our AC in the ceiling but I don’t wanna start cutting and find out it’s going to interfere with the vent paths or electric paths 🫢
Thank you for such a straight-forward and helpful video. Quick question: how do you know before you cut that you're not going to run into any wires or pipes? I'm thinking about doing this in my kitchen area and I'd hate to cut something important.
You have to do your research. Cut an exploratory hole if needed. I was able to get drawings from Jayco. Good luck 👍
Great and informative video
How much did you pay for all the materials and everything
I think the window was around $150
@@wanderlust101 thanks
Good job
This is nice. How long was the walk to the river from your site?
3/4 of a mile
@@wanderlust101 Thanks 😊
Will this work on a 2003 e350 super duty?
Yup don’t know, you should check with these guys: www.ford-trucks.com/forums/index.php
Nice app
Very helpful, thank you🤘
Wow you all have been a lot of beautiful places and parks! Thank you for sharing, if I go to those areas, sure I will visit them!
I just booked 2 nights here next month. It looks great and I'm very excited! Thanks for the video, very helpful and informative. Your channel has great content, I've subscribed to keep up with you. Thanks!!!✌
So did your site, number 10, have water hookup?
No water or sewer … electric only.
awesome!!
One of the best easy to understand videos on window insertion. Thanks!!
What kind of power is available? 120? 30? 50? Thanks
I know they have 30 & 50, not sure about 120.
Are battery powered golf carts allowed.?
I don't see why not; the hosts use them.
What a great public service! I like that you noted the "incorrect site"...go figure that no one at the design level of construction ever even cought that MAJOR error...and it will remain like that for 100's of years... Oh well... :)
how did you know that there weren't any studs where you were cutting?
At first I got plans from Jayco but they turned out to be the wrong ones so I drilled small holes on the inside to locate the aluminum framing.
