Great Video!!! Good tip for new painters.
What grit is that pad? I ordered a couple of denim pads after watching this, a 2000 grit and 3000 grit. Guess I'll start with the 2000.
Did you order them from me?
@kandyman5315 No, sorry. I'm in Australia so looked for denim pads here
@JamesTheRealSpeaker3.0_ yes start with the 2000 then 3000 if that's what they are👊
@kandyman5315 Great, thanks. Looking forward to seeing if these do a better job for me than sandpaper 🤝🏻🙏🏻
nice job on the w-30 side stripes.only way to know if a 72 is a real 442 is the broadcast card showing w29 option.
How much did they charge for a job like that? I'm trying to see if it's a good purchase buying el car like that and get it repaired.
It was not cheap close to 8k
I'll have to give this a try on next Kia hyd I do . We are jobber for a dealer ship we do mirrors doors handles but they send us a bunch of customer to us so . Can wait to give it a try
nice! what is the color?
Factory 82 color
Hi, may I know what that machine is on your back?
3m versaflo tr800
Kandy man I have a question regarding prep work. I painted my truck doors two years ago with a single stage solid blue. I’ve since repainted the outside including the jambs with base clear. My question is what needs to be done to the backside of the doors to spray clear on the? A lite sanding or can you mist them with reducer what’s your recommendation thank you!
I would recommend a scuff
@@kandyman5315 Thanks for your quick response!
Thank You🤘🏻
C1 or 2 cap? Tip size?
C1 1.3
Beautiful paint booth. Very jealous
Ur the man ! Very few people explain this type of stuff !
👊
Will this technique work on factory finish?
Yes
Beautiful job! Excellent tips. Thank you!
Kandy Man, will the bronze gun with the V Style tip spray base also?
Yes 👍
Great artistry, your results are fantastic. Good to watch, thanks
Will it work by hand with a block?
Have not tried that.
What clear are you using
Ppg 5050
@@kandyman5315 thanks
A real clean one. They do that Bit one on it to make it Look oem. That do not all. I hate that. Love this work
Nice paint but you gotta do something with those gap's ,,,3/16 not 3/4
This was filmed before final gaps were set
@@kandyman5315 I knew something was up ,I wish I had those pads 30 years ago ,It takes 3-4 hours to paint a car and 40 hours to cut it down,
@sandraherdman3783 check the video of the car all finished up
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO KANDY MAN 👨 DO YOU EVER SPRAY SOLVENT BASE COAT PAINT OR JUST WATERBORNE PAINT I TOOK MY CAR TO A PAINT STORE AS YOU KNOW FORD FOCUS MK3 TITANIUM X DIESEL AND I WAS TRYING TO GET THE PAINT SHOP TO MATCH IT MATE HAD 4 LOTS OF SOLVENT BASE COAT PAINT AND ITS STILL A MILE OUT HE EVEN USED A SPECTRO CAMERA 📷 SO WHERE DO I GO FROM HERE WATERBORNE PAINT 🎨 😊
Don't sound like it could hurt
@@kandyman5315 😞 sorry no reply
You have lost me
@@ANDY-we7mr check out the water base paint or maybe a different paint store
@@kandyman5315 kandy man 👨 need to tell you this went for this interview today there make E TYPE jaguar cars from scratch old type aluminium body and steel roofs I was blown away you could eat off the floor mate I was so impressed with the company there was this E Type jaguar I said garry how mutch is that andy £1.2 million pounds 💷 and the next one too it £2 million pounds there ship 🚢 all over the world mate I said is,that waterborne paint he said yes the finish was un real I said you don't need a welder but a top sheet metal worker who can read drawings and mig weld
Watching this was a real treat for me. I watched the videos while you were painting the car as was getting ready to paint my Jeep at the time. I have owned a 72 Supreme convertible for 30 years that has 65k original miles. I recently retired and playing with it much more lately. I painted it in my garage in 1997 but probably should have left alone as had original paint at the time. It's paint code 65 that is a 72 only metalic orange. It still looks great but starting to show it's age. Mine was a 350 4bbl with buckets and console. I added a bunch of options like tilt, dual exhaust, disc brakes, power windows. Power trunk releaser and boxed rear control arms with sway bar. It's still a super original car. If I decide to do it again it will likely be in 442 trim.
I'm glad you enjoyed it 👊
You are a true master. Holy moly nice work
Good Job Mr......❤
Hi and good job, have a Q's is that the nexa system you are using?, i ask because i wanted to know how you was able to get the scan colour up on screen?
Ask your rep to update your software 👊👊
@@kandyman5315 thanks buddy, i just moved to a new bodyshop and asked them about adjusting and they said no, then by random i was watching your video and boom you did exactly what i was asking, seems i'll have to get the shops system running how it should be, cheers buddie
This trick is gonna save me so much time in future because I have had to paint so many of the accent trim molding or pieces for fords or Kia and Hyundai recently and I was taking camera shots of the piece but didn’t always work And I’d fight to tint it. Now this is game changer
👊👊
What size pps adapter do these guns use?
S2
Did you just spray plastic adhesion promoter and then paint on top of that or did you add primer over the promoter
Adhesion promoter then sealer
you are amazing !
Thanks for the support
I want this fir my 22 GR86.....41v or 46v?
Nice job there Kandy Man, I love your channel just for this reason as you explain everything in great detail plus you give us the tips and tricks on painting issues you may come across on older vehicles👌🙏👍John UK
I appreciate your response and support
Do they have a LVLP gun? I have a 27gal 5.1 scfm @90 n have no idea if I could even use a porphis
Yes they do
Wow that’s something to look out for definitely. The old lead painter at my current job used to just clear over the primer to save time on gray, white, and black boats. He’d mix it weird though. It was 4-1-1 with accelerator. He’d put 1 part clear, 3 parts primer, 1 part reducer, and 1 part clear activator. Then accelerate it. Then clear over that. He didn’t get a chance to explain it to me before he died and then we switched from axalta to awlgrip.
Did collision repair 40 years,, painters are prima donnas
Don’t forget it’s painters that make the jobs look good haha
Great trick. I usually just buff the flat clear till it’s shiny enough to scan then proceed the same way. You can even hit it with some 2000 before you buff it up.
Wow.......Super man......good MR👌👍
I stumbled across this technique several years back while using the camera on flat cleared trim parts. The camera could not see the color accurately on the flat cleared parts But with a quick spray of Like90 gloss simulator before you scan the part gets you real close on color with the camera.Another trick in the arsenal is to adjust the gloss level of the clear sightly if the color is a little off.Less gloss will make to color appear lighter, and more gloss will make the color appear darker. You are the only other painter i've seen us this trick.Great minds think alike.Keep up the good work.
Good advice, Had that ppg matt finish guide like that at my old job, with the 1-7 scaling, the shop I'm at now doesn't have one and the paint rep tells me they are hard to get. Not sure if that's b.s. or not but I sure miss having that guide!!
The trim parts came out great
Love your double wide booth!
Ive had issues with matte getting stripped. Ive seen stripes in matte at car shows as well. Back in the 80's I would "fog" metallics to eliminate stripping. When I say fog I mean to hold the gun further away to even out the coat. Do you have issues with stripes and if so how do you handle it? I have a military vehicle to paint in the near future and I am worried. Thanks, your a GENIUS!
I don't have much trouble with stripes with the new paints of today. But yes the fog coat works well with solvent
We call that a control coat. With the military vehicle use Selemix, it’s simple and tough.
@@petebanham4916 A friend of mine into military vehicle restorations has recommended a urethane by Midwest Military out of Prior Lake Minnesota. They sent me some samples. I'm not familiar with Selemix but a quick search shows it is not available in the US. It looks like it is tied to PPG though.
Ugh brings back memories LOL, that's why I'm glad I'm not in the shop any more, too many things that the insurance company is not paying for
👊👊
Bro your boss with it. Can I send you a piece of plastic I have to match the purple in my bike. I had it custom painted from a fairing maker over seas. They don’t use paint codes and won’t can’t send me touch up paint. I been trying to find someone to color match the purple so I can get some touch up done.
I just subbed for the giveaway
Is Iwata making anything close to this in a mini or midi size gun?
I hope they make them as well
you got any experience in spraying in high heat with 70 percent to 100 percent humidity? shop I'm currently in used sikkens autowave and it's just garbage they don't even have a high humidity controller for base or clear. I'm in a high humidity time right now and just trying to find ways besides over reducer it to get the clear to flow out. even recommended 15 to 17 seconds in #4 viscosity cup, I'll get it to 12 seconds, it it still either refuses to flow out, or just runs everywhere. I'm at a rock and a hard place other than talk with the boss about changing to a better paint system
Have you tried back to back with the clear
Hello Kandy Man. Quick question to you. How do you clean filters? Do you use compressed air to blow particulates out of filter? Any suggestions?
They are replaced once full unit. Let's you know when to change
Kandyman have you ever tried Nason 465-00 and what do you think about it?
Haven't tried that one sorry
@@kandyman5315 oh ok. What good clear would you recommend me for a show car? I can not get ppg dc5050 here in my Kentucky area
