I make videos about the Oscars and whatever movies I feel like. I also co-hosted a podcast, Blu-ray Boutique (formerly The Criterion Collectors), which discusses films released through boutique video labels like The Criterion Collection, Flicker Alley, Shout Factory, etc.

That accent is just about the worst I have ever heard. I hit the mute button in no time at all.
Ernest?
Tim, show us the entire collection?
My entire DVD and/or book collection? I don't know. Maybe some day, but for right now, it'll probably just sharing bits and pieces here and there. Thank you for the interest and the watch!
I think your DVD collection would be great. 👍
Hey awesome video I think it was excellent
Thank you!
Molto bravo

I think Rathbone is probably my second favorite Holmes after Jeremy Brett. It's a pity that the writers felt it necessary to turn Watson into a buffoon in the films, but I understand why they felt the need. This really is a very entertaining adaptation of the book, even if it's not as close to the source material as I would like. Great review!
Yes, it's sad that they leaned so much into comedy for Watson and that Bruce gets all the blame for it. This is my favorite Hound adaption I've seen so far. It certainly differs from the book, but it's close enough and captures the feel of the source material.
I absolutely love this movie. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels uncomfortable with that scene in the film. That's my only real issue with this classic.
I found this channel yesterday looking for "Skippy" 1931. I am really enjoying it. Looking again at Nosferatu I can't help wondering: why with all our technology and talent, is there nothing even close to this old film (or to Metropolis) today in the amazing quality of its images? Maybe the visual side of the brain has taken a back seat to other forms of creativity?
Thank you! So glad you're enjoying the videos! I think there's still a lot of visually great movies out there. They're just visually appealing in a different way.
Clara not Claire
How Green Was My Valley is beautiful, heartwarming, and has terrific comedic touches. I'll take it any day over the pretentious Citizen Kane.
Thank you so much for helping me relive these movies through your videos and artictualting exactly how I felt about this trilogy. I would love to hear any movie reccs like this!
Thank you so much! If you haven't already seen it, the 1955 Best Picture winner Marty is in a similar-ish vain to Before Sunrise. My review for it is here if you're curious: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nZiHwaekdtrOkdY.htmlsi=7a_w9z7NalxJayB-
Where is my comments?
This monumental story addressed PTSD.
I love this movie. It's something that could really happen--as opposed to a contrived love story.
Whoever you are ,You need to learn how to speak properly. What a horrible disgusing noise!
Nice research and comments, Sir! Let’s see more! ❤
Moronic review by a screwball
You A wonderful knowledge of these early entertainers and I think you are much too hard on everyone!
You don't know what women of a certain age feel when they think no one wants them anymore. It makes me sad to see how so many women now who've been sold a bill of feminist goods that being a solo woman without any children are going to be feeling by 35 in the 2030'. But globalists don't seem to care about the happiness of average people these days.
"The Verdict" is another great film about alcoholism. Perhaps the reason you didn't care for this movie is because they left out the subplot of Birnham's homosexuality.
Preferring Mrs. Minever over The Best Years Of Our Lives is like preferring frankfurters over filet mignon.
seeing this movie at 15 years old when i was on a family daytrip to austria changed my life, and until today it's still one of my most rewatched movies ever. the chemistry between ethan hawke and julie delpy is also pretty much my standard when it comes to onscreen chemistry, everything about this film and the other two that followed are just so special to me.
That's MY FAVORITE PART.
I'm sorry, but what's your favorite part?
Before Sunrise ends. Celine closes her eyes, and we miss them. Sad.
Was the sister the inspiration for Gilda Radner's Emily Litella character?
I don't think so. Looking it up, it looks like Radner based the character on a childhood nanny.
Will we see you guys return? I love these as you can clearly tell. 😊
That's very kind of you! We have no current plans to do one this year. They MIGHT return at some point, but these podcast episodes were a LOT of work to edit for what ended up being very little views. Plus, I got exhausted with editing them. I needed a break. But, no, it's not impossible they may return at some point.
Have you seen the nominees for 2021-2022, I would love to know your favorite of that year and do me a brief recap on being your favorite?
@@angelcastaneda529 I have seen all those nominees. And my favorite might've been King Richard.
The video that introduced me to your channel, happy 10th anniversary.
Thank you!
I’m curious, what did you think about the ‘22 movie?
I would tease that you'll have to wait until I get to that point in my videos, but it'll be a LONG while until we catch up. 😆 Essentially, I thought there were some nice aspects to it like the film's look and the acting, but felt the constant cutting away to the bureaucrats debating whether to end the war was distracting from what we should've been focusing on. Also found the ending very contrived and too much like a movie, which an adaption of All Quiet should never feel like.
What did you think of it?
Very informative thank you
great eassy on the movie, so beautiful narrated
Thank you so much!
film deserves 5 of 5 stars. spot-on analysis of actress Jean Heather who played Carol James. annoying as shit.
…that reminds us to love, and dream. Perfect! Thanks for this lovely review.
I loved this film but at the same time found Ethan Hawke a touch sleazy! I cannot figure it out...
Thanks for your review!🎉 Amazingly, you voiced all my concerns, all my hesitations in recommending this movie to anyone other than: foreign dancers intrigued with vintage American musicals!🤔
I genuinely don’t understand how more people haven’t seen this. I loved your take on this series
Haven't seen the movie or my review? Either way, thank you so much for the kind words! ❤️
I just watched this film again after several years. 44, happily married and two kids. I have the same reaction as you did. I look back at my wife and I’s first few dates. The closing scene of the empty and mundane spaces where magic happened moments ago was beautiful.
The First Wizard of Cinema documentary is amazing. The fact that in some of his stuff I still can't figure out how he did it 100+ years later with just practical effects speaks volumes about his visionary talent.
Wonderful movie. Thank you for sharing it. PS. Your narrative didn't sound pretentious at all. The individual who called you out on it, sounded pretentious in their lengthy, wordy diatribe.
Thank you for being kind and supportive. Glad you liked the video!
Can you believe that I've never seen this movie? I need to! I loved the first one so much! This review is definitely something I can relate to, especially at this middle-aged point of my life! Thanks for a wonderful video!
I haven't seen this movie since it came out, but I recall it affecting me deeply. It's one of my all-time favorites. You did an excellent job of bringing out the things about the movie that made it so special! Thanks!
This is my favourite film of the trilogy. Thanks so much for this 😊
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words! 😊
YESS! That scene from Ferris Bueller's is so realtable.
I just rewatched Sunrise & Sunset while reading the screenplays as it played. I'm in my late 20s, and have been doing some reflecting around relationships and friendships myself. I've watched these movies so many times, but only now did I really feel that sense of yearning that Jesse & Celine feel for past relationships. It's pretty cool how you can dust off a new thing to see in these movies as time goes by. That meaninglessness they feel is an important marker of how there's more to life than maybe the way we're living it. Love your essay, it really captured that
Recently was introduced to this trilogy by my gf. So so good. The second is my favourite I think
One of the best classic movie that i watch. Very good lesson on it.
Well done.
Thank you! 😊
