I heat molded my Nordica Promachine at home. My approach is similar, slightly different and delivers excellent results. (1) Oven temp is 200F. (2) Heat soak is only 5 minutes. (3) After 5 minutes of fitting, I step into icewater bath with boots (make icewater bath in large Coleman cooler) for 5 minutes. (4) towel dry. Cautionary note: The time required to heat ski boots in an oven depends on the brand and the type of shell being molded. For example, Salomon's custom shell takes 10 minutes at 100°C, while their HD shell takes 2 minutes. Atomic's memory fit shell takes 5 minutes at 117°C. In general, you can expect to heat ski boots for 5-8 minutes at 220°F. You can use a laser thermometer to check that the plastic has reached a temperature of around 80-90°C. Convection oven HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Yes I did. The one screw came out on the lower engagement bar and the walk lever was allowed to disengage. Luckily I have a long ski strap and I would just strap it around the boot and lever to keep it in place until I could get back to my shop and replace the screw.

Hey so I can speak to this. I just demoed the 102’s yesterday and I’m seriously thinking about buying a pair (in turquoise ha!). I skied them in variable conditions in the interior of BC. Tried them on groomers, chewed up bumps, and some soft snow. I’m 5’10 180lbs, and I skied the 176. They were fun! Light, easy to chuck around, either edge to edge in quick carving turns, or to flick the tails out. I also tried some long high speed turns and they held very well, minimal chatter, and gave me confidence, but they didn’t have the blasting-through-crap power of heavier metal skis like Nordica Enforcer 100’s (which I hated - they were just too heavy for me and I didn’t have the strength or talent to drive them through moguls or anything else). For context, I’m an advancing intermediate/advanced skier, I ski everything on the mountain and am working on my technique to build confidence on double blacks and blacks in shit conditions. I don’t have a racing background which I think is important to consider - many expert level reviewers like skis that I find are too much for non-racers. I demoed Nordica Enforcer 100, Fischer Ranger 102, Head Kore 93, Faction Prodigy 2, Atomic Bent 100, Armada ARV 100. Kore carved well but I had trouble getting the tails to kick out on bumps and chewed up terrain unless my balance and positioning were perfect. Even slightly in the back seat, I struggled. I want to try to 105 but I think it’s just stiffer than I’m looking for in a ski. Prodigy’s were a bit heavy (might have been the demo bindings, tho). They really wanted to go fast and straight! Had to work to make them turn quick and short. Not as playful as I’m looking for. Bent 100 was better/more playful than Prodigy for me. Still heavy but I could flick it around with work. Held well on high speed arcs too. Heavy enough to plow through crap. Possibly the best of the day and a candidate against the Fischer Rangers. Armada ARV 100 were maybe most like the Rangers. Lighter, softer, and even easier to chuck around than the Bent. Maybe not as confidence inspiring at high speed but still did the job, but, then again, the only length they had was short for me (171) so I’d like to try them again closer to my height at 178. I have to go back for another demo day to confirm, but I think my money is on the Rangers. Hope that helps!

I did this with a pair of Lange RS (blue) boots and liners as well as Lange XT3. I had fractured my 5th metatarsal and the outside of my foot is quite wide and causes problems. I put the liners in for the final 10 mins of the prescribed 17. So shells got 17 mins, liners got 10 mins at 220F convection. My foot was quite hot in the RS liner. More so than the XT3. In both I stood outside in the cold for 20 mins in the boots to let them cool to shape on my foot while leaning into the boots in a ski position. WORKED GREAT. Boots are literally form fitted now to my ankles and feet. Will be doing this again for future boots.

It's useful to have an in-oven thermometer as convection ovens don't necessarily show the true temperature (they may be calibrated to cook foods similarly to non-convection). Also, you can use a nylon stocking to hold the extra toe sock or cup in place.

I consider myself an intermediate skier, comfortable on blues and blacks. Most skiing done out west No so big on trees or moguls but will ride them occasionally I am still working on my carving technique still skidding down steeps, and love the occasional speed - have topped out at 46 MPH - I don’t consider myself an aggressive skier not getting any younger but I plan to improve my carving skills this year With practice. I didn’t want to get a ski that with time I would eventually overcome and stay stuck with I wanted a ski I would eventually work my skills and techniques into as I gain more experience and settle into it nicely. I don’t plan on buying another pair of skis in a loooong time as I am well invested in the Mantra M6. I did a lot of research on it and i understand it’s an overpowering and demanding ski. I am looking forward to the challenge. I am not concerned about the weight of the skis as I am in good shape and have strong legs turning won’t be an issue or fatigue. I am excited to purchase . Did I make a good choice?? honest thoughts? I am Ready to invest 👍👍

I am a DAD. 59 yrs old and not jumping in the air much but still like skiing the bumps occasionally. I believe my foundational ski skill set is hard drive carving and everything else follows with minor balance and edging adjustments. I ski mostly in Oregon and frequent Idaho. I love this ski. It gives me everything I want out of a variety of turns (GS to slalom). I get a real pop out of the turns that make me feel like I am just floating on top of the surface of the snow until initiating the next turn. I like to call myself a "roamer". I like to ski runs from one side to the other searching for fun features along the way with the exception of bump runs. I do not like skiing in a crowd. My preferred style just conflicts with people that prefer a more straight line down. All that being said, I am glad I did not take the sizing advice and sized up to a 178. When I am skiing fast across the fall line in deep NW crud, I get rocked pretty good going across all the straight line ruts that were created when the snow was fresh powder. If I were on the 171s, I feel like I would lose even more stability. You definitely do not want to get in the back seat on these skis.
