    I like them both but tend to lean towards Turner because they are half the price of Holbein in the US. Your video says Turner dries slower than Holbein and and there are others that say it dries faster. I add both Golden's Acrylic Retardant and a couple drops of water in both and use them interchangeable on a stay wet palette so I am not sure because I really don't notice a difference.

    I mixed my acryla gouache with flashe paints to get the colored pencil to lay over the acryla gouache since I had a ton of tubes of holbein. I mostly use white or paynes gray depending on the color. I doesn't work for all colors but I'm not wasting paint

    Art is a journey. theres no wrong or right way of doing things. its just you. each peace is apart of you. we all go through comparing ourselves with others. but that keep us from being who we truly are. Dont be afraid to show who you are dont be afraid to be just you. you have a community who love do what you do.

    I had to check the comment and it actually said: "Is this an art channel or just buying stuff and reviewing?" which is a valid question in my opinion, nothing to get offended about.

  • @MoniDmajor
    @MoniDmajor4 ай бұрын

    I would deem this comment curious instead of offensive if it weren’t for the word “just” - because that turns a question into a judgement. It’s discouraging to people who make reviews and test art materials but don’t feel comfortable drawing on camera yet. Putting out videos is still more work than you can imagine and most don’t make a profit from it, they just wanna share their passion with people who vibe with it. In my case, by the look at my channel it’s not hard to see what videos I posted so far as it’s only 14 (minus my private vids) and you see that it’s all kinds of art related content, in half of them I paint. So what’s the point of asking me to define my channel? It’s like flipping through someone’s sketchbook filled with cartoony drawings of people in ballpoint pen as well as complex landscapes in watercolor, and then asking “so are you a watercolor artist or JUST a manga artist”? Clearly, that artist does both, so what’s the point of a question like this other than making the other feel inferior and showing discontent? If one doesn’t like someone else’s stuff, as long as it’s not harmful, why not just move on elsewhere instead of sowing doubts and insecurity

    It means I paint and draw on an almost daily basis but only upload videos occasionally when I feel like it, because editing a video takes days. When I upload a review or swatching the filming takes half a day tops, but if I record a painting it takes days as setting it all up elongates the entire process and I like to make art on a larger surface. If I was to post art creation all the time that would mean I draw and paint less because of all the work around content creation. I have 14 videos only in the span of 3 years in which in 7 of them I paint. Which should demonstrate that it’s a “just for fun” side project and not my main job. I have tips, q&a, swatching, reviews and hauls. Like many I am no art channel that just does one thing and if one thinks I don’t paint in enough in videos, I do not get paid to offer content on demand. Hope this made it more clear

You definitely have to give yourself grace when you make art. I hope you post more!!

    Truth. But nowhere near as messy as M. Graham paints, because those have honey in them, which makes it so that they never fully dry...

    I highly recommend using the volcano red and orange to mix your own DIY schmincke shire and desert colors! I recommend Kim Crick’s video on those 3 sets to see how you can use up the volcano yellow and red since you dislike them. I’m sure you could also use the desert orange to make your own supergranulating colors 😊. I personally like all of them 😂

    Can you mix them with regular gouache in your experience please ?

  • @MoniDmajor
    @MoniDmajor4 ай бұрын

    I did that and you might, but I would absolutely not recommend it, because Acrylic Gouache dries much faster. If you mix them on the palette the acrylic polymer binder will dry faster than the gum arabic in regular Gouache and you will have lots of gooey clumps! Acrylics once dry can not be dissolved. When painting in layers the Gouache part will rewet whereas the acrylic part would not. Muddy colours allover. I don’t do it. I would paint over Gouache with my Acrylic Gouache in a thicker layer sometimes, but still you will have the colour underneath dissolve a bit. Again, this can look messy especially if you like crisp edges and clean solid blocks of colour. Turner Acrylic Gouache is the only one to my knowledge that is designed to be diluted with water so if you are really eager to mix both mediums I would do it with the one from Turner. Hope this helps

    Really interesting to see how you work and hear how you feel about your art! I was really inspired by the choices you made painting this piece. Especially the hints of coral and how they work with the other colors here, really enchanting. Also the choice to portray patterned historical clothing was really cool! Also I especially love how expressive the face is ❤️ It's an interesting mix of emotions and has me curious what she's thinking of, or looking at here. I feel like she's exhausted but in a way that makes me feel like she's not defeated but has lots of resentment and fire lurking under that fairly calm expression. Btw, the lack of confidence you talked about, and the standards you set on yourself - definitely resonated with me. Btw listening to you talk of your lack of confidence felt kinda bizarre because to me you are actually one of those artists that has me feeling inferior! Even though I try to say to myself that I don't need to be able to do the same things you can, as we all have our own unique artistic styles and strengths, and that variety in expression is what makes art so magical. I like so many different kinds of artists and genres, and could not decide which one is my favorite even if my life depended on it 😅!

    The great thing about Acrylic gouache is that its so smooth and becomes one with the paper, compared to acryl paint it stays on top and and is more rough that adds texture (brush strokes).. I actually thought that colored pencils might work best on the acrylic gouache but this video makes me reconsider unwillingly.. Ohh and the Luminance might have been better on the gouache since it is wax based, though I prefer oil based color pencils like Polychromos way more on there own.. I am wondering what would happen if you add solvents like alcohol or paraffine to both the acryl paint and acryl gouache and then draw with the pencils - since color pencils will be very vibrant when using them with solvents and is also great for blending.. I also wonder if another acryl gouache like the Turner brand might work better than Holbein for example for mixing with color pencils.. I`m sure the results in this video could be altered in some way to different outcomes..

    💥 Is it too late to ask you the company name of the lovely black paint brush that you used ?! (I did check below but didn’t see it. 🤷🏻‍♂️) - If you don’t remember, I’ll understand. ;) (…after all it has been a year already. 🙂) ♥️ Loved watching you swatch‼️ Daniel Smith is top of the line. 🥰 However they do harden and shrink a lot, when not being used. - Not a game changer though. ▫️ THANKYOU 🫶

    I agree that the Volcano Yellow is difficult right outta the tube. But well mixed before using it has a much better result. And I am quite fond of the red because it is a muted, earthy red. In the Urban set the yellow is combined with pink and is a lovely, subtle combo. I really liked watching you swatching.
