76 yard hits on that coyote are really well done. One was a lung hit the other a heart shot. IMO, well done. I do some long range stuff and it’s a challenge for sure. Cool video and a great range there. 👍👍

You need to check your state laws for broad heads, I'm in Georgia and pretty much anything is allowed, but I hunt NY every year and any broad head that creates a barb is a no go. This is from the DNR site :Barbed Broadheads Prohibited for Big Game Barbed broadheads are illegal for hunting big game. A barbed broadhead is one in which the angle formed between the trailing or rear edge of any blade and the shaft is less than 90 degrees. A notch at the base of the blade extending no more than 2 millimeters from the shaft shall not be considered a barb. Broadhead examples on the right compare one that is barbed to three that are legal. Broadheads with retractable blades are legal. Broadheads with mechanical blades are legal if the blades DO NOT form a barb or hook when the arrow is pulled from the flesh of a deer or bear. great video!

A huge wound channel creates faster blood loss which is the whole idea. Get the critters on the ground fast. Now I know animals can move and Theresa marginal hit where the larger cut would probably be very advantageous. Also with my usually smaller fixed heads I’ve lost a couple deer over the years ( thinking I hit leg bone or the spine part of the scapula) but was this because the wound channel wasn’t 1 1/2” or larger? Doubtful? I really believe it’s about shot placement. Hitting the kill zone which for me is a maximum of a 5” diameter spot in and around the “ golden triangle “. Long ago the fixed heads were 7/16” to 1” wide and that was all there was. I killed many critters with the BearRazor in 80’s . Anyway, I hope this Beast head works 100% for those that use them. And I’m waiting for video on damage to a nice pig.👍👀👀👀👀

A 2" mechanical like the Beast broadhead has no more total cut than a tiny 1" 4-blade Slick Trick Standard (1" + 1" = 2" total cut). Blade angles for most 2-blade mechanicals are horrible. If I was going to shoot a mechanical, it would be a 3 or 4-blade (Grim Reaper or Swat). The Beast broadhead looks hard to sharpen, blades don't look replaceable, & they are extremely expensive.

I really believe a lot of people use these streamlined? mechanical heads because the bow isn’t tuned right. Or it’s tuned or accidentally working with a particular field point arrow they are using and these mechanical heads hit close. Of course there are those that can take 50-60 yard shots and hit a deer etc and these heads are small and fly well. There are also lazy people that won’t take the time to get everything fine tuned together.

@@TheNewBowunter A tiny 1" Slick Trick Standard 4-blade has the same total cut (1" + 1") as a 2" 2-blade mechanical broadhead. Just look at how far those blades must hang out there (creating a terrible blade angle for penetration) to equal a 4-blade fixed broadhead. Don't let a one-dimensional 2-blade cut fool you.

I’m just thinking the beast may need like 70# DW to get max penetration? Or use like 50+ grain brass insert added for a 60# bow? My young friend uses the 1.5 Sevr and has had excellent results even on larger,180#+, pigs. At 70#’s with 50 grain brass. Personally, I’ve never used anything but fixed in over 50 years. No failure to deploy is my thoughts on that. Anyway, I get field point accuracy with Magnus black hornets w/ bleeders to 60 yards which is my maximum test distance. Can’t imagine paying the $ for those heads- nothing special IMO.

I 100% agree. These large cutting mechs are for bowhunters that are crap shooters that aim at and/or hit the liver and guts in my opinion. And for bowhunters believing in all the nonsense hype from the so called pro hunters. The large cutting mechs also tend to change direction after the hit or even deflect away from the animal on quartering shots. This looks like a very similar design to Rage broadheads in the way they open and they are terrible when it comes to this. And the penetration with this broadhead will most likely be terrible with the setups most people hunt with as well. I am 100% sure that many will lose their animals to coyotes, birds and maggots using this broadhead. People should learn to tune their setup well or get someone else that knows what he/she is doing to do it for them and use a good quality fixed broadhead instead. Magnus broadheads with or without bleeders is a good option. Top quality broadheads for a good price. And there are other good ones as well.

Pigs can be spooked by anything. If one jumps they all might for no apparent reason. Being in a blind, if you have the wind right, you should get away with about anything. 25 yards should be plenty of distance. We have a couple of platforms only 8 feet high seats at 15 yards for years. Unless your arrow rattled? Noisy clothing can do it too. I use a QAD rest and the prongs and bottom of the crotch are covered in super thin felt so there’s absolutely no noise when the arrow slides.

Nice shooting!! Your arrow weight is fine for whitetails. I shot my first whitetail with a bow when I was 11 years old. I shot it with a 35lb bow at 20yds and if I remember correct my arrow weight was around 320gr and I think it was shooting in the 180fps range and the deer only went 50yds. I have killed a lot of animals over the last 20 years and shot placement is key. I have killed 2 mule deer at 90+ yards. I used a 414gr arrow at around 308fps and had a complete pass through on both animals with a mechanical broadhead. I also do not believe there is much benefit in a smaller diameter arrow besides wind drift and fletching clearance. Your broadhead makes a far bigger wound channel than the arrow diameter in a animal . Most people saying there is a big difference in penetration are shooting field points that are the same diameter as the arrow into a foam target and of course there will be a big difference in a foam target with field points and a small diameter arrow. Modern bows are deadly with almost any arrow and broadhead combination. Use what works for you and don’t let other people make you loose confidence in your setup.

Just use AAE vanes. On points and inserts try the Bohning blue low temp hot melt. It doesn’t get hard like instant adhesive and subject to shock breaking. It stays relatively “ soft” and can absorb shock yet works. You can heat the insert while it’s in the shaft to rotate it if you want to clock a broadhead. I clean the inside of the shaft and the insert or point with 91% alcohol. And I clean the arrow and the vane base too. Gotta remove contaminants for proper adhesion. I very rarely have issues on vanes or points. Yea, it’s a little more time but well worth the effort IMO. There’s a good video on vanes and arrow flight in super slow motion at “1nestly “ on KZread. Gives the spin count on different vane setup.

I like tinkering with stuff just like this. It’s fun and very educational. Trying different vanes for longer shots. ( 40+ yards) can be revealing. My arrow of preference for several years has been the Carnivore with the Black Hornet serrated 100 grain and their brass insert. I only draw 60#’s and pass thru hits on whitetail and mule deer is practically a guarantee. These have been great arrows. I use the AAE STEALTH vanes at 2 degree straight offset. I’ve found this gives me the best flight past 40 yards in practice. Very consistent. I’ve never shot a deer past 35 yards for all the reasons but have shot wild hogs at around 50-52 yards. Eliminating wild pigs is the goal here even if I can’t make a clean hit and recover the meat. Nearly all my pig shots are around 25-30 yards. Sorry about the shoulder thing. I used to draw high elbow like the pros do but at 73 I can just get it above level which actually works fairly well in setting up my back muscles for pulling through the shot. I use a Carter Wise Choice thumb release. Anyway, enjoyed watching your video here. 👍👍👀

I wonder, have you seen an archery coach and/or a physical therapist for your shoulder position and strengthening? Your chest is a pushing/contracting muscle, I think you are using more back and rear deltoid than you realize. I’d imagine that the way you are drawing you are getting a bit of bicep in there also; But, rotating your shoulder up like that after you are at full draw puts you at risk of injuring your shoulder! Nobody wants that!
