Dershwitz does the search>counterattack combo. Searching for the blade makes Kim pull his hand back to avoid the beat, this exposes the wrist to the counterattack

I have thought for a while that there need to be a penalty for stopping the bout while you don't have priority. For me this would be that your first step would have to be going backwards. The reason why I think this is a good idea is that it can be given in all situations, step off piste to avoid the hit award a yellow and this penalty, fall over unintentionally, you must go backwards, mask wire comes off, same again. It's not punishing enough that refs will easily give it, and it would make the game much fairer, both in cases where there is intent, and times where there is a break it the match because of something outside of both fencers control.

If the other guy is better he should win even if he doesn't have the opportunity to finish one attack. It's unfair to award the point when Kim clearly isn't trying to defend either.

It was not wrong decision, Kim proceeds attack and he takes priority. The aim of Bazadze was to cut Kim's attack or make Kim hesisates during the attack and Bazadze succesfully accomplished that when Kim stops for a second. Then priority goes for Bazadze. It was true call.

We should be allowed to do passing steps. Maybe not 2 in a row but 1 in between advance and/or lunges would open up additional body mechanics.
