She has been doing something cool, but it’s the same thing for more than a decade. For more than a half her life, she must be so bored.

By just watching the sword routine reveals or here demonstrates a failure in an attempt to maintain edge-alignments through their strikes. if you definitely can't execute a cut with a sword I don't think you have control of that weapon. People that do XMA regularly claim that their made-up techniques have roots in actual fighting, but any time they try to explain how they fall apart immediately. If the public-facing students and instructors in these schools are so readily willing to propagate lies, it undercuts their legitimacy. Additionally, pushing these as martial arts is deleterious to real weapons based martial arts . the problem none of these "xma/cma open tournament" people have never had any formal training in any authentic Budo,Bujutsu . They just make their stuff up from a fantasy based on a pale facsimile or pantomime of what they falsely believe what the weapon is meant to be in real combat situations. They have absolutely no concept or skills in self-defense- close quarter hand to hand Combat. It is just gymnastics/acrobatics , baton twirling and juggling. How very sad.

Kata is a formalized sequence of movements which represent various offensive and defensive postures. Kata is a series of Offense and Defensive movements with precise, “efficient body/bio- mechanics” to teach the individual how to engage in close-quarter “ hand to hand combat” with a weapon or without a weapon.

One of the many problems with these “Open tournaments” there is no cognition of standards of proper/correct techniques. I have observed, video after video , a total lack of ‘ Body Dynamics ‘ , ‘Efficiency of movement’ , . There is no Kime, no Zashin, no Koshi-Waza, no Kamae , no concept of Ikken Hissatsu, Sorry there is no evidence in the video of an efficient Tsuki not once is there a Gyaku-zuki or a Oi-zuki . The routine seen on the video above is absent of all the fundamental elements of Authentic Kata. Power can be concentrated only when the hips, chest, shoulders, arms, wrist and fist are firmly linked and all necessary muscles function fully. Power starts from the ground up, which is why a strong Kamae is relevant. This is simply gymnastics and is based on Cosplay fantasies of the children’s TV show “Power Rangers” for individuals who have no concept or cognition of Authentic Fighting Disciplines. , Will he be able to perform these gymnastics when he is 45 years old or older?

Question, where are the Military skills? Think about it ; all you really need is a gymnast to put on a Karategi and a Black Belt , and pretend to execute something that resembles punches, kicks & blocks, and then just jump around the stage , and you would have what this individual is doing in the video

Don't use a katana as a toy. Don't spin the katana. If you want it to spin, do it with your nation's sword. If you do a somersault with a katana, it will stick in your own body. Don't insult Japanese martial arts.
