When I saw this, I thought he must be lipping those down, especially on a pro horn. However, I tried on all of my trumpets to make a conscious effort not to lip them into tune, and they actually do play naturally quite a bit flatter and flatter going up C-G-C-E. I guess I'll just have to try for myself to see if it makes a difference. I will say though that it did seem like he was backing off as he went up the sequence with the first aid whereas he was blowing right through without the first aid? I'm sure this would exaggerate the contrast in intonation as well
@arresonanceАй бұрын
The hardest part of understanding the First Aid is letting go of so much automatism in fixing notes that are naturally so out of tune. In another video of mine I'm actively forcing notes to the place of maximum resonance regardless of how out of tune they need to be. So, in those cases (and just in those cases), I'm not buzzing the right pitch (like Paolo is instead doing in this video), but rather the pitch that maximizes the effect. This is the right strategy to feel what is the real tendency of the instrument, which is the right approach to find how much we normally have to correct the horn. Once we play that way we can feel how much the First Aid can fix the resonant frequency of each harmonic. This helps speeding up the process of finding the perfect spot. Once this spot has been found you can stop "overdriving" the trumpet and just enjoy the pleasure of not having to bend notes in place. :)

I’m very convinced that this device will make a noticable difference. But not the difference between a crappy player and a quite good player. If those horns really are professional instruments you really have to put some real effort in making them sound thát bad. Again, these weights will make a difference, as adding any weight will. Soldering weights at many different places is not new. It will definitely do something to the sound and intonation. And experimenting with these with the rubber band solution, Nice idea! But it won’t make a Trumpet player that can’t hit any natural note above low c in tune a good player. On any trumpet or flugelhorn it takes force to play the first g that low unless it’s broken or filthy. This video actually stopped me from ordering one. Any professional player will call this clip exaggerated. But hey… those players aren’t really your market….

I wouldn’t call the players that use the First Aid non professional. I could list quite a few that are more than legendary. @@arresonance great, good for you. Doesn’t change a thing about this video being exaggerated, and not adding any credibility. If this trumpetplayer played like this without the first aid, he would have thrown all his trumpets out of the window on the top floor in a very high building, long ago. This video is advertising false hope. And those names, congrats. But none of those players bought this first aid based on this video, because there is not a single pro player in the world that you will convince with this video, which was my point. My comment was based on this video, not on your product, which probably is great. But this is not a fair representation of the effect the first aid will have. Because the before parts are intentionally played much worse than he actually playes. All the best, I’m out,
