    Thanks for the video, really good even though you just narrated and didn't show the work. Your good at explaining! Why not replace the lower ball joint while doing all this? I've heard they go out. And rather than just grease for the sensor, why not anti-seize?

  • @antonio0072007
    @antonio007200729 күн бұрын

    Thanks for the feedback trying to balance filming the steps that might not be intuitive with keeping the video short. I had no issues with ball joints so didn’t replace but your logic is sound, this would be a good time to replace them. As for the wheel speed sensor hole, I think grease or anti-seize would work. Use whatever you think will last longer; Without threads to keep the anti-seize in place I don’t think it would last longer than grease.

    Try draining the transmission oil, if it contains water than the bearings are probably corroded and will need to be changed.

    Normally I get all my sprinter parts from europarts-sd.com, however, on big ticket items I usually do a quick google search of the part number to check if I can buy it cheaper somewhere else. In the case of these knuckles I actually found them for $277 each on buymercedespartsnow.com. I listed the part numbers for my van in the description of this video. The abs wheel speed sensors were about $45 each, again I did a google search of the part number on found the cheapest price on carpartsdiscount.com

    Started my yz450 18 today no issues. Then Switched the spark plug to iridium. Also found out the battery was on low. Got it charged. And now the bike won't start. It cranks, however its like the starter clutch is just spinning. before all this happened. Last week I was riding and I lost the oil plug. Since I was riding on the road I just topped it up. You reckon some of that oil i lost blocked anything in the starter?

    Do you HAVE to pull the big cover JUST TO ADJUST the valves??

  • @antonio0072007
    @antonio00720073 ай бұрын

    I see no other way to do it. You have to turn the crankshaft and camshaft to get the piston to top dead center to check the valve clearance. Because of the centrifugal clutch you cannot place the transmission in gear, turn the rear wheels and turn the crankshaft. The crankshaft will not move using this method. Therefore you have to pull the clutch cover and spin the clutch on the engine side by hand. Hopefully that makes sense to you.

    I just wanted to share with you my experience today. I was 50/50 in deciding whether to change my transmission fluid of my 2011 Sienna with 224,773 miles on the original Trans fluid. It was previously owned by my sister & always on time with all the maintenance at the dealership except the transmission fluid because dealership says it’s sealed & lifetime transmission fluid. I was only able to drain 1.5 quarts of the old transmission, filled 2 quarts, did the process of checking the right temp & drained excess trans fluid. Happy to say so far after the test drive, that the van is driving normally. Btw, it was driving ok, no issues prior to Trans fluid replacement. The old Fluid was brown & did not smell burnt. 😅

You should go by manufacturer way, 18 years in a Chevrolet dealership we would never run dry a transmission dry, especially to the point of overheating it.

  • @antonio0072007

    Rick, while i appreciate your comment, i dont think you understood the instructions in the video. I never ran the transmission dry, at worst it was a quart low. Also, i never overheated the transmission, there is a specific temperature range for checking the transmission and you need to be in that range (104-113), but the transmission does not overheat at 114 degrees it just means its too hot to set the correct fluid level.
