Really cool deck. That is my favorite era of yugioh and currently building a chaos control deck of my own. Unfortunately now that I'm getting alot of cards I have a bunch of tuners, xyzs, links etc that not only I don't use but don't even kno how to use lol

Awesome to see more coverage for Yugi-Kaiba! The format may have waned in popularity a bit with the rise of Stall-Mill decks, but matches like these show why the format is still worth playing!

Yeah the Stall Mill match can definitely be a drag at times, but it can also be a bit interesting to play as it takes the idea of knowing when to wait and when to push that you mentioned in this game to a whole nother level. Although if you're not feeling it, no need to force yourself to show off that deck, there are plenty of other decks you can feature instead (I would love seeing something like Worm Control or Umi Beatdown, even if they aren't the most meta decks out there).

Yugi Kaiba format got me back into yugioh and retro formats, and I very much look forward to your breakdowns of the big events. I think the format is fantastic. It’s a great showcase of not just yugioh fundamentals, but TCG fundamentals, and funnily enough I think there is still space to explore. Thanks for all you do for pushing these retro formats forward!

@@iketcg I'm so happy to hear that! It has always been the goal of my channel to get people into retro Yu-Gi-Oh, so it always warms my heart to hear when it works! I also agree with you that there's still a lot of room to explore in the format! I've been trying to get Aggro Burn to work in this format, and while it isn't yet at a point where I'd consider it tier 1, I think with more experimentation it could get there. Given that deck was basically unheard of a year or two ago, there could be even more new strategies lurking in the card pool waiting to be discovered!

If you are going for a more aggro otk deck I would probably use mind con. It’s not as good against aggro decks but clears the way for otks and gives you an answer to sets that doesn’t conflict with dfusion. I also don’t think playing bazoo makes a lot of sense over a 3rd gigantes. Cat decks are dependent on their normal summons, in this kind of deck I would want to be going cat, gigantes, cat again

That’s correct! But I don’t believe he said phoenix would trigger. I think he was just saying that econ is a nice chain-able card and he used phoenix in the example. If econ triggered phoenix, I think he’d run it at like 2-3 😅

Hm, I think it depends on your other card choices. I think hand + brain con is so busted. I think if I were to play this kind of deck, I’d go with 2 hand to get phoenix online asap. But this build was running 3 apprentice, so maybe 1 is fine.

Thanks for the watch! There was definitely a lot of learning going on, but we actually fixed that at 19:52, so there shouldn’t be a problem w using monster reborn on the DAD.

He meant that you can't monster reborn a dark arm dragon even if you properly summoned it the first time. The word "except" on the card makes that a nomi monster

For some reason I never thought about it until this deck profile, but it kind of makes sense that you'd have to activate Last Will before the thing hits the GY, since, like, in reality you kind of need your last will and testament to be written before you die or else you won't get to decide what to do with your assets. Nice deck! What kind of sleeves are you using? It looks like it might be triple-sleeved, and I'm thinking I might start messing around with adding more protection than the lone Dragon Shields I'm currently rocking with.

Haha that’s a good point! Indeed a post-mortem will wouldn’t make much sense. I’m on triple. Once I started I couldn’t stop… My goat/edison decks have the same sleeves so everything is modular: 1. Dragonshield standard matte outer 2. Konami sleeves 3. Ultra pro perfect fit inner

Yours will have 0 ATK. When you equip opponents TER, the original 1800 ATK monster will go to grave. You can’t equip a card to an equip card, only to monsters

3 phoenix blast instead of hand d and hole seems more optimal. Blast is so good when it’s so free in a deck like this. Also I think you’re right about a mix of junk and debris

If u use brionacs eff to fader it doesn't return to hand but it banishes itself on game 1. Just so u know and on game 3 if u banish faver with caius it doent burn them for 1k

It isn’t considered to be “properly summoned” since it wasn’t fusion summoned so you can’t revive it. It’s similar to how you can’t use call on BLS if BLS was sent directly from your hand/deck to grave

Yeah, it basically just boiled down to which card I wanted to preserve - Mirror force or Ab0. I chose to preserve mirror force. My thought process was that I might also be able to keep Ab0 if I somehow got another water on board next turn.

It isn’t considered to be “properly summoned” since it wasn’t fusion summoned so you can’t revive it. It’s similar to how you can’t use call on BLS if BLS was sent directly from your hand/deck to grave

If you would have mirror forced the stardust next turn you could have ab zero over trag. That would have been the play
Yeah, it basically just boiled down to which card I wanted to preserve - Mirror force or Ab0. I chose to preserve mirror force. My thought process was that I might also be able to keep Ab0 if I somehow got another water on board next turn.
