    Maybe… if water from the water jacket is leaking out and into the exhaust ports. The 3 reasons these leak at the joint are because 1) gasket is old and needs replaced, 2) improperly torqued sequence. There is a specific sequence for all 3 parts of the exhaust. Last reason they leak is because 3) someone did a poor job resurfacing the mating surfaces.

    I don't really understand this video: You start with the silver/black commuter bike (which really looks good), then switch to the stripping and painting of the white bike (and the yellow/black paint job looks fantastic), then you switch back to the bike you started with. I neither saw the build of bike 1 nor that of bike 2 - is there more to come?

  • @uncrunchedrebuilds8897

    The first clip was an intro to the project and the end bike, then stripped it and painted it. The yellow was a primer.

    @@uncrunchedrebuilds8897 Oh, I see! I liked the black/yellow colors better than the silver. But altogether the bike came out nicely. Always good to have an old bike back on the road.

    Awesome video. Maybe someone can help me. I bought a 1995 XP (717 motor), it sat for 3 years, it started up, but I have oil pissing out the exhaust. any idea why , could that related to the pump linkage ?

  • @uncrunchedrebuilds8897
    @uncrunchedrebuilds88973 жыл бұрын

    Im not an expert at these but I don't think it would be related to the oil pump. Maybe try looking at the user manual that you can get online or try look at a forum to see if there are any other people with a similar issue. My guess it that it would be a seal or gasket.

    I have 2 1997 GTX and I was wondering How often do these things actually go bad if properly maintained.

  • @dr00andrew
    @dr00andrew2 жыл бұрын

    they dont go bad, what happens is people never change the oil injection lines and those become dry annd brittle and crack. 99.9% of times thats the case with a "failed" oil injection pump. these are mechanical devices that are driven by the crankshaft. there is a small plastic adapter that connects the nose of the crank to the oil pump

    My two cents. Good video however, that monster of a hammer drill will destroy your pump. A small cordless with an adapter made of an ink pen can be more than suitable. Very sensitive component to put under such stress. Well done!

  • @rlyle5804

    If that .5 HP drill destroys the oil pump mounted to a 110 HP engine, you needed a new pump.

  • @harryvalsak
    @harryvalsak3 жыл бұрын

    @@rlyle5804 is all about balance. Properly mounted on the engine is not the same as a wobbly hammer drill chuck. "Get a bigger hammer" is not always the right choice.
