I just checked this on the Bank of England inflation calculator. That prize of £100,000 in 1984 is the equivilent to over £10,000,000 in 2024 ! Not bad for a couple of minutes work. I met John Lowe around this time when I was in my teens at one of the tournaments, he was a really nice man, he took the flights out of his darts and gave them to me and put a new set in. I still have them tucked away somewhere !

I love stuff like this. I bet he didn't have to put his hand in his pocket to pay for a drink for years after this. Possibly ever. We'd all like to accomplish something, this meaningful, in our own lives, as I'm sure this was for him. Stupid question, but I'm guessing there's a few fellow 1980s viewers of Bullseye who might one day read my comment here? 3-2-1? Dusty the Bin?

I saw this man practice up a local bar aboard. John knows where it was, anyway saw the man kill it again and eat a 9 dart finish with just the barman two locals, and me just walking in on his 9th hand. just ripped the shit out this dart board, barman was on the floor. And the locals were just laughing with ashonishment. I know where someone is that good you just have to laugh. I had to stand with the barman raising his hand to ask me to not move. Then I saw a miracle happen. A 9 dart finish. With a flurry of 180s. Like it was nothing, he finished his drinks, said thanks guys I see you around. And left. Barman and locals were like fuck off that just happened wtf!??? I was like was errr...Yeah mate you know who that was. He fucjing picture is up on the wall with his signature on it. I was that was John. No way! The locals were like you saw that9 dart finish right with the 3 180s afterwards. You saw that right. I was like err I saw the last 3x180s yeah but didn't catch the 9 dart before that no...They were like you just missa fucking miracle from the GOAT.

Because it's the fewest darts you can win a round with, so there's a prize. It was the first ever on TV so the prize was major.

Hello, I have a question for you. From time to time, I have questions after watching your videos, and you answer them, thank you. Now my question is, I'm very confused about this. I'm new to this dart thing and I've been trying to improve myself for 4-5 months. And while doing this work, I bought dart sets of different weights, from 23 to 26 g, but mostly in the form of torpedoes. I have a straight barrel old 26g winmau cyclone set. People where I played could not understand all this diversity. They tell me to stay steady on a weight and set. I tried the sets they used and decided to buy a good straight barrel set. I liked MVG's excat and aspire sets. But I'm undecided about the weight. I also wrote to other reviewers on KZread. Some people say buy a heavy set and lighten it over time. Another person says 23g is ideal. The other person should choose a set according to your throw, so if you're throwing fast, take it lightly, if you're throwing slowly, take it slow. I was confused about what to do. I'm currently playing with darts clearence 24g set, which fits my hand relatively well. As I said, I intend to buy MVG. Your opinion is also valuable to me. please share your opinion.

Problem with that system was it was a complex, expensive bit of kit. Ruined by a round wire board. It's what put me off it in the first place, unfortunately. Would be great if they based one on the eclipse type boards as pub venues could benifit from the ease of scoring
