Yes! I’ve been wanting to go though my dishes too! Maybe this week while the kids are at camp, I also have so many water bottles and sippy cups to get rid of!

I heard the phrase "I grabbed it right away" or "directly put it in the donation spot" a couple times... I'm sensing a theme of dealing with the items right away! That's my struggle, I often put them at a halfway point and then they get hauled out again. Thanks for the motivation to deal with the items right away!
Good point Jenn - yes totally agree! Whenever possible I try to make the decision on the spot so I'm not dealing with the same items over and over again. That part has become easier with practice. Maybe I'll chat more about this coming up, thanks for the feedback! ❤
My daughter is on the dance team, and she has 8-10 costumes every year. It’s obnoxious! I feel ya!

My BIG win for the week was that my children finally decided they could part with their kids' size picnic table. It's a nice wooden one, gifted from the grandparents and was well loved. BUT my kids are too big for it. They were emotionally attached so I tried not to push but when they heard a family with Preschool and Kinder ages kids was looking for one - they happily passed along! Win for us - we now have room for a table that will fit our kids and a win for that family - a free table to use and enjoy!

Love the dedication to running for the art boxes no matter how out of breath you get. Some tips are that important! 🤣 And over the years I've gotten pretty good at reusing the bins and bags I already have, but the tip about flat surfaces is definitely a good one to keep in mind! I feel like I'm in a constant battle to organize them, but one place that it works for me is on my bookcases. I have a lot of books and not as much space, but I've gotten creative with double stacking shelves which in turn prevents me from letting stuff pile up on the edges of shelves and looking cluttered. It's such a small amount of a flat surface, but it has a big impact on me.

Decluttering really helps! I have a chronic conditition, and decluttering regurlary just make cleaning much easier, much faster by not having to move items. Sometimes I also have Mobitlity issues, and bending to move items on the floor ist really painful. It also helps eg if I am in the hospital or come home after surgery to not have to explain to people where they can find stuff to help me.
I love all of this! Such a great point about post-surgery helpers! 👏💗
Hi totally agree with the flat surface. I have a partner who just drops stuff wherever. ADrove me a little bit mad. By removing flat surves, the possibilites for evolving clutter were reduced drastically. Win Win!

Yes to using what you already own!! I needed a small basket for my son’s toys but I ended up using my husband’s bin he was using to store electrical cords. I put the electric cords in a reusable bag and took the bin for my son’s toys! I also wanted to line the bottom of my cabinet but instead of buying liners I just cut up a cardboard to line underneath and it works perfect.

I didn’t expect to laugh necessarily during this video, but the “…maybe they went to Menchies with teacher,” had me laughing out loud! 😂 You’re hilarious, Mary Ann! And oy, the bags from the dentist. I finally put a stop to them (“no thank you”) when I realized we had 14 travel-sized toothpastes. Fourteen!!!

Oh my goodness, don’t get me started on the book fair stuff! I remember an educator allowing my now-adult daughter to bring something home from a book fair for which she didn’t have enough money to purchase, and having to send more cash in the next day. I was LIVID! The clutter that came home thanks to those!

I saw in a Facebook Decluttering Group (at least for those in the States) a company called Replacements, LTD will buy dishes, tableware, etc via the mail. I haven't personally done this yet but book marked it as my grandmother and mother both collect dishes and each own thousands. I know I will not want/need all of these when the time comes to downsize their houses.

I have a Spyder winter coat that is super nice. Most expensive jacket or coat I’ve ever bought. I had the zipper replaced in it a few years ago. I have had it for at least 10 years now and it’s still going strong.
Woohooo! I love that Donna. I should’ve mentioned that my jacket was a bit too small for me which I why I was hesitant to invest in a new zipper. But I sort of wish I’d had it repaired. Lesson learned!!! Thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
I completely agree and I have found so many of these things to be true… when I started decluttering my house, I started to appreciate its beauty (even though it is very dated) and I found myself truly enjoying cleaning and caring for our things.

Same also with the file boxes and pulling on the box til I feel up to putting it in its folders in the box. It was the best investment after marriage to put all our paperwork in a file together to make a cohesive and easy system

I am also the person in our home that takes care of the paper. I have the same file box and do exactly the same thing with papers I don’t have time to file right away. Too funny! I like your idea about keeping paper that your husband needs to deal with in a designated area/basket. Usually that stuff ends up somewhere on the kitchen counter as, for him, it’s very much “out of sight, out of mind”. Have tried various things in the past but nothing has stuck yet 🙂. Hello from NL!

Ugh already not even 1 minute in and it’s so relatable!!! I lost my favorite lip moisturizer and I was thinking of just buying another one today. But I’m holding out, hoping I can find it somewhere in my house.. my toddler must’ve tossed it somewhere! I’m determined to find it so I don’t have to make a repeat purchase

Just found your channel and I’m really enjoying your videos. I’m in my mid 50’s and my son is 20. One of my current goals with decluttering is to minimize the amount of stuff I will have to move when I eventually downsize/move and what I am leaving for someone else to deal with later. Random question though..noticed the books you were letting go of. I am reading the Apothecary’s Garden now, just wondering how you liked it. 😊
