i was up past albany n didnt know the festival would be so huge...cousin tried to get there but road was blocked.

Back in 1996 those were the first real big time commercial guided expeditions with so many groups on the mountain at once. Sadly so much experience a handful of critical mistakes, mainly the turnaround times not being adhered to. Had they just done that, probably everyone gets back to Camp 4 safely and can weather out the storm at least in the tents with some protection. It makes you wonder if with todays resources and technology they probably would have had better weather reports and computer models and seen the fast approaching storm and would have in all likelihood avoided trying to summit that day. Although from all the documentaries and things I read the weather went downhill really fast. Even with the late summits the weather was still good in the afternoon. They just were up too high and got trapped when the storm came in out of nowhere.

Before breaking the sound barrier, each flight in the X-1 approached closer, and closer to the speed of sound. So the buffeting was there in multiple flights before he broke the sound barrier. On the flight that he broke the sound barrier, the buffeting was familiar to him, and even expected, he wasn’t so worried about that.

I think one of the greatest thing about Storm Over Everest is the music. I rewatch the show from time to time because the music has stuck with me. Of course the story makes it that much more engrossing.

UFO really? He's been told to say that. You don't call a space panel a UFO. This is coverup interview to suppress something he's been talking about by the government in return he gets deeper access to NASA television spots and money. You don't tell the world you saw a UFO in space unless your certain it was of Alien origin and turn around years later and recant that claim with some technical bullshit as to why you said it was a UFO to pass it off as space panel from the spacecraft. He's lying because he's been threatened which would effect his access to NASA and taking part in any further research or paid NASA television spots.
