I have a similar model. There was wear from the pulley on the sheild. I could not see that any bolt was loose and it actually looked welded on. No way to loosen or tighten. There was no belt debris, just debri from pulley hitting sheild. My machine is about 18 months old and I live alone so it isn't like it gets a daily workout. I put the sheild back on but not as tightly seated and that horrible noise was gone. I am buying a new sheild and when I put it on I will look more at the pulley but nothing seems loose. The noise started after a young possum was hiding in that area and later wound up in the machine. That was the first time I heard this noise so I opened the machine and there he was. I helped him out. Maybe the possum chewed on the sheild. Who knows.
