If you hear any violin other than bass violin in this cut, you need to consider 1: getting your ears cleaned out 2: Listening to less sophisticated music, like solo piano, solo guitar.... something easier to track! Ha....

The great Richard Davis. One of my all-time favorites. This entire album is incredible.

So did Igor Stravinsky: When Richard Davis joined the Orchestra of The New Your Metropolitan Opera House (as he DID!) - Stravinsky singled him out for praise and said he was "his favorite double-bassist"! AND this is well after he spent at least five years on the road with Sarah Vaughan (and Jimmy Jones & the miraculous pianist, Jimmy Jones!). Cat paid his dues IN FULL!

The improvised solos are perfect extensions of this wonderfully strange composition.
Aloha what a gift to experience 💚
It's great to see a big band with two drummers. And two drummers that actually compliment not only each other but the music.
