  • @SoundSimulator

    You don't really need the "array1" stuff to get the audio working. It was more for me to visualize the sound for the video. If there's no sound, please double check that the DSP is turned on for your Pure Data app.

    @@SoundSimulator I'm on windows and using reaper. But I solved the issue I was having. Turns out I had to set the track to "output" instead of "input" which inputted my laptop's mic instead of outputting the track with the VST on it. I'm still learning!

    excellent analysis once again. I am particularly disappointed by a lack of ambition on MPE instruments. If I take the example of the Push3, they probably wanted to stay on a format that facilitates transport to the detriment of a much larger pad which would have facilitated the expression of such an instrument. I am a guitarist, and the width of the neck allows us expressiveness on the tension exerted on the string. It therefore seems logical to me that a certain control surface should have a certain standard for isomorphic keyboards. We also need to standardize to allow us to create the habits necessary for working on the instrument to achieve virtuosity. Any piano requires space, and if we consider Ableton as an instrument in its own right, it actually needs a very large surface area to have direct access to all the possibilities offered.

  • @SoundSimulator
    @SoundSimulator10 күн бұрын

    I never had a chance to play with the Push before so I appreciate hearing your experience on it. I'm also a guitarist, so I tend to want to do a large gesture when performing on these new controllers as well! Glad to hear that this video resonated with you and thank you for sharing thoughts :)

    @@SoundSimulator Hi, for my part I addressed and resolved another aspect linked to the way in which guitarists work and communication with their daw. My big problem is that I want to sell my idea to Ableton and for 2 years almost 3, they have not wanted to receive me, nor even listen to what I have to offer. I have a very bad time and I don't understand this refusal on their part. I think this is due to the fact that I am an unknown person, without studies, and who works alone in my corner. For my part, I do not have the financial means to protect such an invention. And which can be copied by other manufacturers with the necessary financial and legal resources in a very competitive environment. If you have any ideas on this subject I am interested, thank you

    Really appreciate these tutorials, thank you. I successfully followed the Arduino to Pure Data turorial and got everything working, but this one I am a bit stuck on this one because the moocow library isn't appearing in the externals menu in Pure Data. Would you be able to explain a bit what the moocow and cyclone objects are doing so I can try to explore other ways of achieving the same thing?

  • @SoundSimulator

    @@SoundSimulator Appreciate the reply but the video doesn't go into detail about what those objects are doing, just how to download the externals for them, but the moocow external doesn't seem to be around anymore. Do you know what the [moocow/any2bytes] object is doing, or what the printed output is before it goes into the cyclone object below?

  • @SoundSimulator
    @SoundSimulator13 күн бұрын

    @@soundproofskin Sorry, it's been a while since I made the video so I forgot that I didn't go into detail. I have no clue as to how those objects work, but I think there was a discussion about them on plugdata's discord (I think there was a talk about a substitute too?). I definitely recommend checking out plugdata to see if those externals come packaged with it. And if not, I suggest joining their discord to see their discussion about the substitute. I apologize that I can't help further.

  • @soundproofskin
    @soundproofskin13 күн бұрын

    @@SoundSimulator No need to apologise. I've been using Plugdata, and it doesn't have the moocow external. For the record, so far scouring forums has led me to a vanilla pd object called [fudiparse] which should do something similar to [any2bytes], but I have more research to do to make sure that the list it outputs is the same format. I'll take a look at that Discord. Thanks for your help.

    This is so cool! I am mostly in live sound so identifying those frequencies is a great trick. When do you decide to use a recorded sample versus creating the sound in Max or Plugdata?

  • @SoundSimulator
    @SoundSimulator14 күн бұрын

    Indeed!! As for that question, I haven't done actual sound design work for film nor games so I can't be that insightful. I think sound designers will use recorded sounds as much as possible. In Farnell's sound design book, I think there was a mention of older gaming hardware having memory limitation so creating sound effects with synth was the way to go. At the very least, putting together that sound design reel ended up being a really great exercise!!
