This is a channel dedicated to off grid living, electronics and bush craft. We will deal with other things that seem unrelated at first but tie in with our off grid living experience.
We will discuss different ways of prepping for yourself and your family. Not for any specific reason but because you never know what is on the horizon.
We will do reviews of a few different outdoor items that we have brought for us to use, However we wont buy things just to review.
If you have any ideas, comments or issues please don't hesitate to leave us a message.
Hope you enjoy

Well that was shit
Thank you bro
All good buddy 👍🏻
i mean the life span for the tube
how many hours default old tube co2 2030
I’ve had this camera since probably when you first posted this video, but I didn’t have a booklet inside to know what app to go to or anything and so I screenshot the scan sticker on the side and it just takes me to google and doesn’t do anything, but the thing is loud it has talk to me, but I’ve never found an app or a way to view what it films And you didn’t show the booklet or what it was. I would appreciate it. If you could let me know how I can set this up and my iCloud storage is full anyway so I don’t know if this is even gonna work.
hella cool
Thanks 👍🏻
I haven't used my filament 3D printer for a while because I also have a high resolution resin 3D printer and I use that almost daily. As a result I have many rolls of filament that just snap in the tube and I had a major job last time I used the printer fishing broken short lengths out of the tube - what a faff, having to strip everything down to get those broken pieces out, only to have it happen again soon after... Back then I didn't realise it was moisture build-up in the filament that was the issue and I wasn't storing it properly with desiccant in a tote with a lid. Still don't have a dehumidifier so I need to get one and dry all the rolls before I use the printer again. I have the Ultimaker 2 plus extended, which at the time was top of the line, but if I do go back to filament I am interested in the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon. The 9K resin unit I have (Elegoo Mats 4 Ultra) does most of what I need a 3D printer for but the bed is small, of course, so it has its limitations. It is nice that driving the moisture out of filament makes a massive difference, though, because I have about twenty rolls sat here that is too brittle to use. Maybe I can make a large dryer just using desiccant and get all the rolls in that to see if I can revive them. Always seems like it will be a tomorrow job because I get so good results from the resin machine, but it will be worth doing.
I have an ok resin printer but I don't use it very often as I much more familiar with the filament one. It took me a long time to realise that filament filled with moisture becomes more brittle it seems counterintuitive! One day I hope to have a decent 3D printer as mine are always very budget. My first one was £150 and my second one was £200. I don't think I'll get to upgrade again for a while but the one I have now is pretty good. I looked at the bamboo labs ones and they look beautiful. Sadly the prices a little too much for me. Perhaps one day in the future. I'm working on a device that will allow you to dry the filament without a dehydrator. So watch this space!
@@TheOffGridFamily The Bambu Lab machine is expensive but I love that it has several colours so it's definitely on my radar.
@@budgetmerch that's what made me first look at it! The ease of use as well is a big bonus
This guy's working on an a different way to dry filament on demand. Would love to see your spin on this technique. Search KZread for 9ldRN2B4iJY (I can't post links)

Hi, this sensor will trigger an alarm even if it sees a cat or a dog
If you're talking about the PIR sensors then yes a dog or cat big enough we'll set them off
What is the use case for this sodium silicate?
You can use it for high temperature adhesives and waterproofing for concrete. Apparently there are quite a few uses. Although I've only used it for high temperature adhesives
It’s really good, we bought a similar one it’s fine. We originally had a £200 one that was hd and brighter, but we got through two of them in a few months as both of them melted the internal screen so we ended up with patches on the display.
It's really good for the price. I use it all the time and it's still working brilliantly. I have no complaints
For 7 quid it’s pretty good.
This review was done when they were £30 and above. They also completely lie about the zoom capabilities.
Just (in the last 1/2 hour) been given one of these as a birthday gift! My only problem is... i wont pay for cloud storage and the junkies in this area are likely to jump the gate and steal the microSD card out of the camera! HAHA!
Yeah the cloud storage is massively overpriced. I also wouldn't trust it. Could you hide the camera some how?
@@TheOffGridFamily Might have to build some kinda cage thats attached to the wall of the house maybe. I want it facing directly at my front gate, but my house is small, so not a lot of external surfaces to conceal it either. i wish i could.
@@YourOldUncleNoongah what about making some kind of birdhouse? Then putting the camera inside there? I don't trust please cameras they say they are waterproof but I doubt it!
@@TheOffGridFamily EXCELLENT idea! I think thats what imma do! Thanks my friend!
@@YourOldUncleNoongah awesome 😎
Reverse thread nuts are the devils work. I lent my chopsaw to a friend who thought they would be kind and replace the blade..... banged away with an hammer on an allen key but with the nut anti-clockwise.....so completely over tightened it. Returned it and luckily with lots of wd40 and a heat gun I got it freed. :(
Yeah that's painful! Sadly as the saying goes the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I've had friends try and help fix tools (that weren't broken) and come back needing to be fixed. I tend to not to lend my tools out now preferring to help them out myself.
I make jewellery with resin so I always have UV resin and a curing lamp to hand. I have repaired lots of things with it. Very useful stuff.
I can imagine it is. It will be on my Christmas list for sure
I have the same kb. Went here to see if you got some tutorial/insight on the RGB lights. Can't figure out how to change colors etc.
The colours can be changed from within the program/app I reviewed in my video. I just hadn't noticed it until after I had released the video
@@TheOffGridFamily You mean the LED_Mode0/1/2 ? That's just on, off and weird flickering. I mean changing to any color I want on every key. I don't see you do that.
@ilaphroaig no you don't have the option to change each. I think there is only 3 colour options if I remember. It's very limited.
I didn't work on my windscreen but it was worth a try
I haven't even tried it on my van yet :P I keep meaning to and get distracted
Thanks matey! I'm looking at the 5 speed, 350w version (that will have enough poke for my needs). It's currently on Amazon for less that £100.
That's awesome. There are some good tools at affordable prices these days
Even if you have visible screws, it’s still hard to remove them. My handle has an invisible screw, and it’s closed. I have no idea how to open it, and I will most likely need a cutter to cut it off. I’m so pissed off at those ‘brilliant handle makers😓, hiding screws for no reason.
Well good luck. I hope you can sort it
I bought one recently , my question how do I see the IP address I cannot see it on my router.
It's hidden by default but a subscriber has possibly worked it out. Hopefully a vid is going to be released soon (if I can Sort it)
Nice for the price
Yeah absolutely. As long as it doesn't start to loosen then it's a winner!
This is showing how NOT to do it! You make cuts along the belt so the ends look like a fork. Doing it on both ends so they interlatch. And then you vulcanize the rubber. For a static gasket, superglue is okayish, but not for a moving belt.
There is a problem. Very... VERY LOW strength of such connection. Unfortunately for me it is too weak joint. Basically I need to shortened and reconnect automotive timing belt which I've planned to use for my bicycle because it is too long and found and buy new one not an option with my wage around 400$... Anyway, where You don't have such load and small timing belt it is viable solution.
Yeah this is not meant for anything to like that. This is more for things like 3D printers etc
Thanks for the video. One question, how far away can be the PIR sensor from the main panel?
I'm not 100% sure but I've put them all around my house upstairs and downstairs and the control panel is at the front of my house. There's been no issues with connectivity at all
Yet another company that doesn't understand the importance of good customer service. I run a very small business and I can put customer satisfaction above everything else so it baffles me that a company such as that just doesn't get it. Such a shame. But karma will bite them if they can't address that. I would be writing a letter to the person in charge of that outfit and asking them how they can justify selling a product that has parts missing and no resolution. He or she is most likely clueless about such issues but it is up to that person to pass this down to the relevant department. It is very shoddy and I have experienced it a lot. It is solvable, though, if you are capable of sending a letter to the right person. And I know that you certainly are, James! 😁👍Speaking to someone low down is pretty pointless. The quality of the build is questionable, especially that port, but we will see how it holds up over time. It looks very thin and flimsy. Look forward to your follow-up.
I've contacted them twice more since the video as the barbecue is not just incomplete it's a pile of rubbish. They have not responded to me at all!
Pathetic
Any advice on using ss on concrete as a sealer ? I really need advice on what I can do with this stuff.
I have never done that myself however hundreds of people have messaged me talking about it. They all used the recipe to make sodium silicate and then used it as a sealant for concrete. Sadly I don't know any of the proportions they used etc. good luck my friend
clearly explained easy to follow steps cheers 👍
I'm glad you liked it 😊
need the 300 watt model this sounds like a sherman tank, bananas in a juicer ?might aswell stick a football through it 🙄
Germinated easily and now have seedlings. Had to remove skin from the seeds and leave in damp kitchen towel in plastic container in cupboard for a week to germinate.
Great info. Thanks
You did not make the router you used.I'm looking at Fanedole is it any good

I want a sign that lights up "HOT" when a surface/bath/whatever is over a threshold temperature. I believe this is a marketable product idea. Background/details: In our small electronics firm, we have open vats of molten solder sometimes. The problem with a traditional warning sign is that people get complacent when the bath is cold most of the time. Requiring a human operator to put up the sign when in use is frought with human error, and also sometimes the device is cold before the sign is removed. This isn't a big deal in a small shop, but more people equals more potential for injury. The same system would be appropriate for today's glass-top stoves (for example) where you *maybe* get a tiny LED Indicator on the console. How many times have we put a plastic bowl on that "temporary extra counter space" only to end in disaster? It would be trivial to install a thermocouple under the glass to let the user know there's a hazard present. I can think of a million more applications (hyperbole -- do not hold me to this [winky face]) for this technology. It's not enough to know that power is flowing into the heater... the clear and present danger should be indicated in BOLD and BRIGHT unmistakable text+icon visuals (auditory for vision impaired? ... maybe version 2 initiative). False negatives (it's cold but still says "hot") is just as bad as no warning at all. Anyways this is something I've been looking for for years, and not willing to spend $1000+ for each station. I think this would be a viable Kickstarter business idea. Cheers and beers. -jB
That's a great idea and I know you have the knowledge and skill to do it. I made a similar but very different device when I was much much younger. Would you like to go into more depth over email. We can start our new adventure? I do recon there is money to be made :)

So do I need a card in it to keep it recording? Why does it stop recording when I leave the app? Even looking at the settings within the app , it stops recording? I don’t get it !! Please help
Yeah I think you will need an SD card in it to allow for recording unless you sign up to the cloud
@@TheOffGridFamily Thanks … but I subbed for a year at 25 quid, then an additional minimum of 4.99 for the month , still won’t stay on record. No wonder it took me 3 days to get it out of the box. Knew it would be like this . Really frustrated as have trespassers last four times I’ve left my home (neighbours) I’ve got to get them on a camera. This is a disastrous start :/ I can imagine buying a card and it still won’t stay on record. It must be something simple I’m not doing correctly. Dude, there’s got to be a camera out there or two, ones that don’t require subscriptions at all and are affordable. I bought one seven years ago. I just can’t find it’s cable. It’s not like these cables, and I didn’t need a card in it either.
right, I would cancel the subscriptions immediately and invest in a good SD card. I don't think these cameras are any good in direct weather even though they say they are so Id build a little "bird box" for them. I am happy to help you in any way you need. I honestly think you could do with an SD card. Would you like to email me with any questions you have? I will help you if I can
Do you know the OPUS BT-C3100 v2.2 charger ? If not, maybe that golden classic of 4-slot chargers could fit your needs. It goes for around 30,-$ and has everything i needed in the last 10-15 years, including a cell test program. The test does first charge the cell to max, then drains it with a load that can be set to 200ma, 500ma, 750ma or 1000ma, and then it charges the cell to max again and at the end it shows the capacity. It's a reliable and durable piece of equipment i would buy again if it fails one day - which it didn't since i bought it ages ago. Last but not least, it has a fan that only starts spinning when needed.
I've just looked into the OPUS BT-C3100 v2.2 And it looks really good. I will get it when I've got a bit of money because that is perfect for what I need. I have many 18650 battery Chargers but none that do everything. Thanks for the info very useful stuff
@@TheOffGridFamily my pleasure. I'd like to add one last thing because i don't remember if it was mentioned in the manual: the charger has a 'hidden' dip switch on the pcb which can't be reached without opening its case. It's for setting the charge cut-off, in case one wants to charge LiFePO4 cells it can be set to 3,2V, default is 4,2, and additionally it can be set to 4,4V what means that the charger tries to overcharge the cells. Works fine for some cells, depending on the cell type. It still does stop charging if it notices that the ceel doesn't take any more, so some cells finish with 4,22V and others may go up to 4,36V. I don't use this feature as i don't have any LiFePO4 cells and overcharging may reduce the overall life span, but i wanted to mention it as this switch can't be seen from outside of the case.
@@nopadelik9286 I've said for many years that the KZread comment section is one of the richest sources of information on the internet. Thank you man that's really good to know!
I have a version of this device which has a colour LCD in the centre, two 18650 holders either side and it does the automatic charge/discharge test. Only cost me £3 plus a couple of quid delivery, I coldn't even but the TFT for that price :) So far it's been spot on and the numbers it produces are close enough to my rather more expensive DL24 load that I'm happy it's accurate. It does take a while to run the cycle but that's the nature of the game I guess and at £3 it was cheap enough that I could buy a few of them if I needed to test lots of cells often (or buy a far better device for a lot more money).
I was hoping this one would work out cheap enough to be able to buy them in bulk and do large quantities of 18650s all at once but as you saw it broke very early on and I'm not sure what caused that if it was a problem with the board or something I did. So I'm not prepared to take the risk. The search continues! Thanks for the comment
