Danelia Design: Where a house becomes a HOME

Home and garden design for those of us who don't live picture-perfect, photo-filtered lives
Design that's doable, within budget, & with the goal of loving where you live! Everything Holiday and Home!

Hi, I'm Janet!

I love home design and everything about how and where people live. There's a little bit of design, decorating, holidays, DIY projects, and holiday crafting. My wish is for you to find some inspiration and leave with a "hey, I never thought of that" moment.
Because your home is more than just four walls and a roof - it's the friends and family that you share your life with and the place where memories are made.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope there's something you'll find on my channel that makes you love your home even more!

    Great question! I wish I could attach a photo-but what I did was drilled a small hole at the base and used a 6” metal garden stake and pushed it through into the lawn. It worked perfectly!

    How did this hold up in the rain? Im thinking of doing this it's adorable

  • @daneliadesign
    @daneliadesign8 ай бұрын

    It all held up surprisingly well! The hot glue around the “candies” came loose on a couple of them during a super crazy storm, but nothing fell off. I just redid the glue and they have lasted 2 seasons - this year will be the 3rd. They’re stored in our attic, so even in the crazy heat they’ve lasted!

    How did you make yours? Stuff I’ve used in the past just turns a AWFUL yellow!!!!!!!

  • @daneliadesign

    This is a great question! Because, yes- on its own is discolors something awful. So mine are painted afterwards. & I use spray paint to make it a quick job.

  • @Theyogapartyhouse

    There are variations of colors you can purchase of expanding foam. However If you seal it with a spray UV protectant, it shouldnt yellow as bad if at all. It yellows with exposure from what I can tell.

    Your instructions were brilliant! I made one using an animated witch and a cheap mirror. I really struggled getting her to stick to the mirror. I made these & used the pvc to adhere beads but am losing quite a few even after letting dry for days. Any suggestions?

  • @daneliadesign
    @daneliadesign9 ай бұрын

    The pvc cement dries fairly quickly (within a few hours at most). Maybe retry with a thicker layer of glue and press the beads into the areas where they have fallen off? They will come off if you intentially try to rub them. Otherwise mine were fine outside all through December of last year and I just checked them and they'll be ready for this season, as well. I hope it works out! Let me know!

    With the handles, glue them together, twist them to make branches, the cut green paper leaves. If you have a bunch you can use them to make wall decor for Christmas or fall or whatever.
