Welcome! Fiberculture is a woman-owned local farm and small business based in the beautiful rolling hills of Central Kentucky. All types of fiber arts and sustainable natural textiles are explored and cultivated here. Fiberculture Farm is home to a small flock of fiber producing sheep and alpacas, as well as chickens, ducks, horses, and many other livestock types.
All sorts of handcrafted fiber arts supplies and materials can be found here, including drop spindles, natural dye kits, luxury yarn, and knitting tools. New videos of spinning, weaving, knitting, homesteading (and more) are uploaded regularly.

    Thank you so much for this informative tutorial. I am a knitter who has begun to research spinning my own yarn. I've been watching lots of tutorials and videos and yours is the best I've found. You explain things simply and with a beautiful calm timbre :) Looking forward to beginning my first spin sesh. Also, I'd love to see a tutorial on what to do next, taking off the singles from the drop spindle and plying together with multiple strands on a hand spindle. Do you have any tutorial on this technique? I didn't see them on your youtube.

    Don’t get me wrong, I love this scenery and if I could jump thru my screen into it I would have married that girl already, but of all the things she has in there…why have a candle lit up mid day next to a lit up window and weaving stuff next to the fire that could light everything and everyone in a matter of seconds, she won’t remember but back then there was a glass cover that provided some protection from that happening

  • @Fiberculture
    @Fiberculture10 ай бұрын

    Thank you for your concern 😊 rest assured, I do not leave the candle unattended. Also, I have it there for the ✨ambiance✨ and because I simply like it! Another little side note- wool is naturally fire resistant, so if my hand should slip, the chances of fire would be minimal with me standing right there (the candle looks closer to me than it actually is, because of the camera angle). I hope you have a wonderful day, and thank you for watching! 💖

    You’re welcome! Try “parking” your spindle between your knees (easier while sitting) right after you spin it, so the spindle can’t reverse the other way while you draft out. You will get into a the flow of it with more practice and will be able to anticipate when the spindle will stop spinning or change direction. ☺️
