Very good video. Pacing is good, info is clear and concise enough (I know 56 min long video ... but that's X4 we are talking about)
Thank you for the feedback! I'm glad it was helpful. It is a little long, I'll admit, but with all of the nested intricate systems involved, leaving something out can confuse more than help. Like you said, it IS X4. Totally worth it once you get it figured out, though!
@@cykotich fully agreed. That's what I was trying to say, not complaining one bit. Just my english getting in the way hehe
@@Roark3675 No worries! :) I'm sorry I misunderstood!
Super helpful video! 💯 I hope you keep making content for this game
Thank you! I'm glad you found it helpful. I do have some ideas for further videos, time permitting.
Thanks man! you really deserve a better traffics which I'm sure you'll get soon 🙂
You're very welcome, and I certainly hope so!
I saw you were doing a boron purist thing and I laughed. I'm on my first playthrough and I'm trying to use only boron tech
I like doing odd RP things like that in games to keep them fresh and breathe a bit more life into them. The boron tech is going to be tough, but rewarding if you do it correctly!
@@cykotich I have no idea what I'm doing, i'm learning as I go, and I have a mega factory that makes everything for the boron shipyards and prints money, but when it comes to fleet logistics and keeping my carriers supplied so they can repair my fighters, I am STRUGGLING BRO
struggling to figure out how to keep all my bombers supplied with torpedos consistently
@@araulius2132 So the easiest way is to have a supply ship, and assign a medium/large trader to it. If it is set to re-supply your fleet, it will resupply ships that are running low on torpedoes and the trader will go to the nearest place it can to supply the supply ship. Sometimes it's a little finicky, but usually it works pretty well.
@@cykotich do i not need to specify for the supply ship traders what it needs?
Step 1, have more than 10fps
Always a worthy goal!
I assumed this was a channel with tens of thousands of subs...363?! That's criminal, man. You're well spoken and do a thorough job of explaining an all-too-complex (in a good way) game. Thank you for this!
Thank you! I appreciate the feedback! The game is SUPER in depth, but to me that is what makes it super fun!
I was wondering what Intercept vs Defend vs Bombard differences were. Thx!
You're very welcome! Glad to be of help!
30:00 -- THANK YOU!!! I have never found an explanation of what the bombardment vs. interception orders actually meant. That makes SO MUCH SENSE now that I hear it explained. Sigh... Love this game, but the doc around some of its more advanced features drives me nuts, where it exists.
I know what you mean. There are lots of breadcrumbs of information regarding this game spread across the internet, but figuring out which are true and which are false is a full time job in and of itself. A lot of what I learned about X4 came from experimentation and verifying things that I had read. The game is amazing and SUPER in depth, but there's not much good explanation regarding it. I hope that this helps you set up your own powerhouse fleets!
Noob here I have about 120 hrs in the game and I'm having real trouble setting up fleets that work. Most yt videos are obsolete (3-4 years old so nothing works). I tried the basic thing have 4 odyseus's in a fleet move together to attack a station, follow doesn't work and mimic doesn't work. Formations also do nothing, they just bump into another or move to random positions. Apparently you just select all of them and move them together. Nesting them instead of having one branch worked however. Will try with what you showed in your video, many thanks.
I'm glad you found it potentially useful! I hope the fleet breakdown will help you when organizing your own. Don't forget about formations. sometimes it's best to have the point man out front, and sometimes you want a battle line.
@@cykotich new update looks very promising.
@@gplusgplus2286 Agreed. I'm just waiting for pay-day to pick it up! :)
Nooby question, what are weaves exactly? Are they a DLC? Also, how do you get those glowing weapons I see people have? Are those just reds? Thanks, this video was very helpful.
You're very welcome. To be completely honest, I'm not sure if weaves are DLC or not. They've been a thing for a LONG time. If the lady isn't up top for you, they may be. Glowing weapons are most often skins. Most of the cool ones come from reds, but there are a few glowing ones that you can elsewhere. unlocking a weapon with the skin will allow you to utilize it. Some of them are also purchasable. They're mainly just cosmetic.
Thanks for the guide!
You're very welcome! I hope you learned something useful!
Such a good, thoughtful video. Really appreciate it mate, cheers.
You're very welcome, I hope it helped!
I burned through all my materials trying to get legends before realizing that you can just upgrade a blue one shot :/
Oh, no! That's rough. At least you'll be able to accumulate more fairly quickly.
Actually a really quick way to get rep from -9 to 10/11 is to dock into a faction factory and trade manually 1 by 1… because it’s not the price but the number of transaction that change the rep. It take around 100 transactions to get to 10 rep. There will be a few seconds delay between each transaction but you can get to rep 10 in about 20 min.
Right, I tend to use small miners and small traders to do it for me, though. That way I can focus on things that only the player can do. Your way is a viable option as well, although a bit tedious for me. The small miners and traders are for reputation, whereas medium and large are for real money making.
@@cykotich Yeah you are right especially since your small miner/traders can keep raising you rep after rank 10... (manually is WAAAY too boring after 10...) But for a quick access to a faction early game before you have the budgets for mining fleet... manual sales maybe more adventageous.
Fair, you might check out my video for a solid start to get your beginning fleet off the ground: kzread.info/dash/bejne/iKygu7WTaNa6orA.html
this was great, very useful thanks
You're very welcome! I'm glad it helped!
Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Pineapple? Someone wants you to create Abominations! LOL . . . . . . Pineapple Pizzas
Heaven forbid! 😂 The cooking recipes for the tier 3 materials are a bit more... involved than the ones of the prior 2 tiers. Thankfully, pineapple isn't, strictly speaking, required. We can grow everything for 2/3 of the recipes we'll be using for the Halloween Area.
In the beta they've included a "Reduce game speed" feature which can be hotkeyed. You can set it to 50 or 25% (maybe other levels too not sure). Fights in 25% can be kinda fun. Helps to reveal how the AI "cheats" (meaning they perform maneuvers and changes to propulsion that a typical player without an actual starship interface is going to find very difficult to achieve).
That is the hardest balancing act in any kind of game design. To make an enemy that is simultaneously challenging without making them impossible. It would've been nice to keep that functionality, though. For analysis if nothing else!
You just casualy call boss mechanics fighting him the first time. Damn dude.
😁 Those are the thoughts that go through my head when I'm fighting something for the first time. Trying to find the pattern, that's what it's all about!
This will help my own base setup. Thanks!
Right?!
You're very welcome. This is not the best way, nor the only way, but it is A way that helps to streamline the workflow around the camp. I hope it will help you come up with ideas to make it even better!
been waiting for episode 4! Nice
I'm glad you're enjoying the playthrough! I'm enjoying this game immensely. I hope they add more to it soon. What they have is amazing, though!
So I bought the game, but haven't had time to play yet, maybe today? It definitely seems like I'll enjoy it, just on your gameplay. 😊
It has a surprising amount of depth. Every time I load in, I find something new that I didn't know about. I really, really need to do an optimization passthrough on the robots, though.
Ha! Mind your business!
Yeah, lesson learned on that one... lol!
😂 He told you!
That he did... With alacrity and authority!
Super helpful! Thank you!
You're very welcome! There is precious little data on how the fleet system and mod system work running around. As well as ship-to-ship combat being less dog-fightery than other space games. It took me the better part of two playthroughs to get it nailed down. I hope I saved you some heartache!
i play on ps4 would play with ya if i knew how lol
That would be nice, but I don't think it's cross platform. It didn't used to be when we looked into it.
@@cykotich yeah my puter cant handle that game very well. ill still learn and watch your vids no worry
Three levels out of one combat... reminds me of the anime Solo Leveling, LOL /EDIT Watching you play this I've changed my mind, guess I'm spending some money today. This and Goat Simulator 3 are now purchased. BaAaAAHh!
You're not wrong... I read the novels all the way through the story. It's a pretty good story. The game is a blast, and I'm sure they're only going to add more to it.
I have to say, I ADORE your intro. LOL
Thank you! ♥
Groober, Knight of Briddonkler.
Nice. Although programming seems janky.
It is, a little. I really prefer code to dropping commands in a list. I feel like we have more flexibility with code. It may just be a comfort zone kind of thing, though. Overall, it's kind of neat. It's new and different in the genre, and I feel like it will be a powerful tool the further we get in. The limit to minions is a little rough. The demo didn't have a cap for minions, so we were able to brute force jobs. Now we have to be a bit more creative in commands to cover the limits.
WooHoo! One of my favorite games, despite the weird mechanics. LOL
It IS quite fun. And absolutely gorgeous! The mechanics can be a little strange, but once you figure them out it's usually just fine. Bugs are fairly rare.
Appreciate that you take the time to explain everything properly. Not everyone is willing to do that.
You're very welcome! I noticed that too. I had to piece together what I know from experience, Wiki articles, and snippets I've overheard from others. There doesn't seem to be any real compilation of knowledge for this game. It's a fantastic game, but very in depth and that can definitely work as a barrier to entry for new players.
My god i wish i watched this earlier i just opened all my chests as i got them and got shit i wasted like 20 of them i am kicking myself so hard
If it makes you feel any better, I did the same thing. I didn't think it through until I had another friend start the game and we were more strategic about it. There are some systems in the game that could benefit from a bit more transparency, for sure. It's a lot deeper than it seems at first blush.
dud. 56 min. dont b surprised u got so few views.
With a game as intricate as X4, more care needs to be taken when explaining things.
I mostly only watch long play videos, so that audience is there. Keep being awesome and thorough!
@@oldmankatan7383 Thank you! I appreciate it! There are a LOT of hidden nuggets of tribal knowledge for this game that aren't explained very well throughout the game. Some of it you can find online, but it's usually fragmented, some of it only comes through experience. I figure if we all share what we learn, everyone will have a better time.
Thank you for trying our demo friend ✨
Anytime! You guys are off to a fantastic start! I have to say, too, thank you for putting out a demo. I wish more studios would do that so that we can tell if a game is for us or not before we purchase it.
Reminds me of me wishlisting this long time ago, waiting for multiplayer
It's supposed to come out this year. I'm super excited for this one. This one and Omega Crafter, for sure! I really like the unique systems coming out of survival type games now. There was a spate there where they all felt the same. Now they all have these awesome new and unique features.
This game looks cool.. Have to get this one ! Thx for showing this 👍
Absolutely, It was quite an enjoyable experience! Sometimes you want to murder pixels, and sometimes you just want to chill and relax.
"Battle wizard isn't all that great." Lmao
Prior to some (fairly) recent patches, it wasn't. It got buffed hard.
I would watch this!
Hm, Maybe we'll have to give it another go once it's fully released! I was enjoying it immensely. It is also satisfying to utilize programming skills directly in a game, even though I dislike the type of programming they chose. It was probably easier to implement, though. I'm sure we can build some pretty complex action through the correct application of multiple simple ones!
Thats a neat game.. Kinda like the robot idea !
I agree, and the total customizability of the minions. Although, If I had wrapped the whole program we wrote in an infinite loop, We wouldn't have to stop and start them again when we took arrows, they would just keep checking to see if it's less than 99.
The beeguard drops honey and you can put in ranch
Yeah, that one was a huge score. We've got cake in the works!
Coming along very well
It is! I just wish we'd seen a Grizzbolt while we were at the island. Now we'll have to make another trip.
Thanks for this. I bought the game a few weeks ago and have been playing off and on with no clue of what's going on.
You're very welcome! I'm glad it helped! The learning curve is VERY real in this game. It is worth it, though. It can be a lot of fun once you know how things work.
I wish i knew how bad the hosting, connection, and black screen the PS5 are 😂 stop playing because of getting kicked out of my own game many times trying to prog Cataclysm. No thank u to this game 😊👍 i love it but its unplayable, sad
I think it's mostly a PS5 issue. I'm not certain, as I only have it on PC, but I've not experienced any of those issues. I feel for you, there's nothing worse than enjoying a game and not being able to play it!
@@cykotich yeah it could be the PS5, because Wermintide 1 was no problem on ps4 😅
You had to do what you had to do Can't wait to pick this game up got my wife hype for it to she a pokemon head
Right on! It's like Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, and Any Random Survival Game all rolled into one. It's pretty awesome for coming from the little guys.
"Walking family dinner" LMAO!
I thought it was an apt description... 😁
