    Shockers to me: (1) Condenser sounds much more natural than the Dynamic version. Is this typical of C vs D? (2) Judging by your test at the start, the person speaking does not have to be as close to the condenser mic, whereas, with the D version you have to be almost touching it to get great sound. Am I understanding correctly? Thanks!

    Hey Art! Everything you just said is relatively accurate... When it comes down to it, I would say you'd want to be closer to a Dynamic mic than a Condenser mic... but it definitely depends on the mic. On a lot of Dynamic mics, you would want to be 2 to 6 inches away. Whereas with a Condenser you'd want to be 4 to 8 inches away. So there is definitely some overlap, but with that said, on average you would probably be about 2 inches closer to a Dynamic mic. There is a constant debate about what sounds better: Condenser or Dynamic. Bottom line: I would just go with what product you like the sound of. I know, it sounds like a bit of a cop-out, haha... but I will say there are other factors that come into play with this. One of them is room treatment. If you are in a completely untreated, bad-sounding room, I would 100% get a dynamic mic! There are plenty of Dynamic microphones out there that sound more natural than a Condenser... but on a whole, you are correct. Condenser mics tend to have more of a natural sound, because a lot of them have an extended frequency response. However, what a company decides to do with the tone, can help or hurt the "sounding natural" aspect of it. In this particular video I absolutely agree with you! I do think the K669C sounds more natural than the K669D, and I would say that happens quite a bit when it comes to Dynamic vs Condenser, but not always!

    Hey! I really like the Rode DS2… but it is a little expensive for what it is, but I LOVE mine. DS2: amzn.to/3VMSxq3 If you don’t need it to horizontally move, the on stage quick release is great! On stage: amzn.to/4eA7Tqm Then you kind of have a mixer of the two with the innogear, except it does have the quick release like the on stage. Innogear: amzn.to/45J8VMI Hopefully this helps! Thanks for watching!

    Does the Tank3 sound a bit lightweight to you? Either lacking in bass, or, lacking in lower midrange / upper bass boost? Maybe it's just neutral whereas other microphones boost the lower mids & upper bass to get a "radio" sound?

  • @artmaltman

    Tank3 USB sounds more clear vs K688 USB which sounds warmer and richer. And, Tank3 XLR sounds way better to me than it's USB. Sigh.

    Hello I bought the rode NT1 5TH generation and the A-1 sound card and the NTH100 headphones. But I'm having trouble connecting it. in fact when I connect the microphone via USB, the microphone is displayed on the different applications such as unify, rode connecte and rode central. But, when the USB cable is connected to the AI sound card and I connect it to the desktop, the A1 sound card, I have the sound but the microphone is not recognized by the application or the computer. This is actually my biggest problem. I can say that the microphone works when I connect it to the XLR since I have feedback via the headset but the microphone is not recognized by the computer application either. I want to know how to use my microphone and my sound card on my Windows computer.

  • @AudioHotline
    @AudioHotline5 күн бұрын

    The AI-1 is an audio interface. So you would connect an XLR cable to from the NT1 to the AI-1. If you want to use the NT1 as a USB mic, you don’t need to use the AI-1, you would just connect the NT1 5th gen directly to the computer! If you do want to use the AI-1, you would go XLR cable from the NT1 to the AI-1 then USB cable (that plugs into the back) of the AI-1. At that However, the AI-1 won‘t show whatever devices are plugged into it on connect, in fact the AI-1 does not connect to Rode Connect or unify. It does work with Rode Central, but for firmware updates. It just simply gives you a connection between the mic and the computer to be able to record into a DAW.
