These lyrics are better, but that damn GBA sound hardware is atrocious. Luckily, the Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition patch for the SNES version of FF6 includes an option for these opera lyrics!
Celes' voice sounds more feminine and high-pitched in the GBA version, whereas she sounds deeper and low-pitched in the SNES version. This version is much better imo.

I think that, with some tweaking, one could make an italian opera using the music from the opera in this game. Here's my idea of it--I took liberties with the story set in the game. It's also a tragedy, so be warned if you don't like sad endings: -------------------- LA PROMESSA DELLA SOGNA The story begins with DRACO, a knight and close friend of PRINCE RENATO. The two are attending a party at Renato's palace, telling each other of the dreams they had last night. Draco has dreamed that he will meet his true love, while Renato dreams that he will overcome his enemy. Then, both spot MARIA, the daughter of a prominent nobleman. Both are immediately stricken with love and separately proclaim that Maria will be theirs; however, Maria has only fallen in love with Draco, and the two steal away and speak their love for each other while Renato eavesdrops. Renato, overcome with jealousy, decides to send Draco away to the war, hoping he will die in battle, while he convinces Maria's father to allow him to marry Maria. Draco manages to survive, and sings of his undying love for Maria. It is at this point where a messenger tells him of Maria's engagement to Renato. Draco declares his intention to return to the palace, find Maria, and elope with her. Maria, still at the palace, sings of a dream she has just had, promising that she will be with her love forever. At the pre-wedding party, Renato attempts unsuccessfully to woo Maria; it is at this point that Draco returns, and declares that he will not allow Maria to marry Renato. Renato and Draco agree to a duel, and both fight bravely; Draco is overpowered by Renato, but just as Renato attempts to strike the final blow, Maria leaps in front of the attack. Both Maria and Draco are mortally wounded by this, and die; Renato, overcome with guilt, mourns Maria and Draco's deaths, noting that their dreams all came true, but not as they wished.

I love this version of the lyrics. I can only think of one thing I would change. The second to last line of the song should be ne'er instead of never to match the beat better, but I understand that it's not a word many people use. Otherwise, tremendous work on the part of the localization team.

By the way, is "Carattere", not "Carrattere" x° In fact "Aria di Mezzo Carattere" is Italian, and I'm Italian. It means "Half-Character Air" (character as temperament, type, nature)

@rawkfist208 I remember someone stating that Square doesn't want to make it for DS because it isn't powerful enough for their needs. So they'll be skipping FF5/6 for DS remakes. Maybe they want to make it on a stronger handheld and give a Wii graphics experience?
