Great show. The combination of everything about it is what makes it great and unique. I didn't know about them having all women in the creative team, I just felt the whole show that nothing's being mansplained. It was so brilliantly crafted. Lots of men in the room but despite of all the senstive and complex topics and scenes about women, it didn't leave women feeling vulnerable after the show but rather more powerful for being a female. Everybody laughed their lungs out and cried their eyes out. It's insanely unreal. Great show.

There aren't words to describe what this song, on Jessie's voice (and Jeremy Jordan) makes me feel. ❤

I personally love this version more than her studio version. It's so raw and emotional. I love the slight raucousness in her voice when she goes higher; it's perfect.

I hope, like the Mean Girls musical movie, they turn this into a musical movie as well paying respect to the original writers of its precursor.

There are lots of renditions of this song on youtube and everyone has their favorite. I personally think emotion and performance is more important than vocals. This is especially true on Broadway. Obviously vocals are important but of the two being able to totally make me forget that I am watching a performer on stage is the biggest thing. Jessica easily makes forget she is portraying Jenna because she is Jenna on that stage. That to me ls what separates great performances from real Broadway stars. I have seen a few others sing the song as good or perhaps even better but none of the others had me totally convinced. This is true of most Broadway shows. I personally saw 3 Evan Hanson's on Broadway since it is my son's favorite musical . Only the last one I saw truly had me believing he was Evan. The young man may not have Ben Platts pipes but he was Evan on the stage. My allergies acted up a few times watching him. Jessica tends to make my allergies act up as well. But mad respect to all of the Jenna's. I know it is a very hard character to portray on stage. But it is also a dream for many talented young ladies to get be her.

I've always felt that (the amazing with glorious voices) men who cover this song leave me feeling just a little bit off, with a very slight sense of appropriation/misplaced or forced empathy that I could never quite figure out. But - oh yeah - it's the difference between emphasising the loss and nostalga by honing in on "she used to be mine", than focusing on the actual 'mine'. As in a genuine, literal, physical and soul rending, understanding that a part of you could be manifested and controlled outside of you, and you would have no legal, moral, psychological or cultural say in that. And so it occurs to me now why only women may be able to emphasise with what I thought was the true meaning of this song. Anyway, cool, I get it now. Thanks Jessie.

It's not simple to say That most days I don't recognize me That these shoes and this apron That place and it's patrons Have taken more than I gave them It's not easy to know I'm not anything like I used to be Although it's true I was never attention's sweet center I still remember that girl She's imperfect, but she tries She is good, but she lies She is hard on herself She is broken and won't ask for help She is messy, but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone, but she used to be mine And it's not what I asked for Sometimes life just slips in through a back door And carves out a person And makes you believe it's all true And now I've got you You're not what I asked for If I'm honest, I know I would give it all back For a chance to start over And rewrite an ending or two For that girl that I knew Who was reckless just enough Who gets hurt But who learns how to toughen up when she's bruised And gets used by a man who can't love And then she'll get stuck and be scared Of the life that's inside her Getting stronger each day 'til it finally reminds her To fight just a little to bring back the fire in her eyes That's been gone, but used to be mine Oh, used to be mine She is messy, but she's kind She is lonely most of the time She is all of this mixed up and baked in a beautiful pie She is gone, but she used to be mine Traduci in italiano

Other performers may sing this song better/ have "nicer" voices during this song. But I prefer the raw emotion that Jessie brings in this performance. The grunginess/ rasp/ guttural quality. She ain't trying to sound perfect. She's trying to sound in pain
