I have an 1959 AJS CSR in “daily driver” condition which is always an attention getter and such a pleasure to ride. BTW the bike here was running on only one cylinder when you started it. I had the same problem and had to have my magnito rebuilt. Good fat spark now and idles and runs great. Good detailed assessment of this very nice bike, thanks.

Yeah, I remember that day. I think one cylinder was loaded up or something. I've had the bike for 10 years or so, still runs great! I'm glad to hear yours is a daily rider! Do you ever find the oil drains into the case if it sits too long? My father also has a 1959 AJS 31, that is a sweet machine. Check out my video on it here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/g2Sgr4-tabnUn7Q.html

Awesome! Just saw your AJS 31 video and realised you were the same blogger as this channel. I am envious of both and as a Brit, am very glad to see them being cherished over the pond 👍👏👌

I gave it away in 68. There were 2 65o matchlesses. Mine was the best with bigger toug low pulling power. Best bike ever made. Think about it every day.. very up set.

When I was a child, my dad bought a Matchless 650. I remember being on the back while he raced a car away from a stop light, going up San Diego's Murphy Canyon Road. He said we hit a hundred, which he was clearly proud of. It was a long time ago. Thanks for bringing back the memory.

mine has a Lucas distributor. I didn't know the magneto was an option. Is it a direct swap? Thanks

I have a 1961 Matchless Typhoon 600 single also from Arizona. If you need Whitworth tools you can find them on Amazon and they are very high quality. I do need a few small parts.

Awesome! I'd love to find and old G80 like yours or G85CSR, but they are fairly rare. Plus I'd be afraid to thrash it off road like I do with my other dirt bikes.

I got a set of BSW tools when I got the bike. Thanks though.
