I really liked this one :) Do you have any tips for what to do with your left-hand? For a couple of years I've been stuck in the "just do a single note but in two octaves so it sounds kinda okay" phase. So my improv sounds okayish but a bit stale.
@DeborahsMusicOfficialАй бұрын
Thank you! :) I've heard about that technique (playing a single note in two octaves), and am just starting to add it to my skillset. I hear it can be quite helpful. When I improv I usually play chords with my left-hand (it sounds like you are pretty familiar with music, but just to be clear: I play the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes in a scale all at the same time). I invert some of the chords so I can quickly transition between the different chords while playing. Sometimes I will only play two of those notes at a time (1st and 3rd, or 1st and 5th), which makes for a lighter sound. Another common technique is "Arpeggio" (here you would play the 1st, 3rd, and 5th notes in a chord one at a time in either 1,3,5 or 5,3,1 order - so not all at once). This technique takes a little more thought, so you have to be pretty solid with the scale. I'm not quite there in my training, but it makes a pretty cool sound when you are comfortable with it. I hope that helps!

I felt like I got to the point where practicing bass on my own was getting me nowhere and honestly it's kinda boring practicing rhythm solo lol. The B string being in the wrong place is messing me up a little to tell you the truth, I'm used to it being my low string and now it's all high up! And what even are chords! lol I kid. This was a very nice one! Nice and somber lol, real late winter vibes.
