Hi I am Martin. And I love synthesizers.
In this channel you will find demos and quick tips about these synths:
- Moog Mother-32
- Elektron Digitone
- Elektron Digitakt
- Teenage Engineering OP-1
- Korg Minilogue xd
- Eurorack with modules like: Makenoise Maths, Instruo Arbhar, strymon Magneto
I love ambient music and I use my synths mainly to create ambient soundscapes. You will find some ambient demos in my channel.
Enjoy, and let me know what I can do for you :)

Großartiger Einstieg, um die Tür zur Moog-Welt zu öffnen! Kannst du vielleicht mal erklären, wie du deine Mother32 mit der DAW gekoppelt hast?
LOL. Love the video. I've had three full home studios. One version had almost 30k into it. Now, that would make sense if I had massive talent and skills! BUT, NO! I am OKAY, but my joy is in creativity. Not sure how many will admit this, but I sure will! These are COOL Toys! As an adult, we have the ability to buy amazing toys. That's the reality of it. ALL these videos? Content creators? We have no idea who they are. They don't have Platinum records. They are hobbyists! Just like us! We see their toys, and we want one too! Is there anything wrong with GAS? NO. Not if it isn't hurting your family, or yourself via keeping you from spending money on the NEEDS! If you have extra for WANTS? This hobby isn't expensive! Even a $3500 keyboard is no big deal. Most synth hold value, or at least retain enough value to get a good amount of money back. SO, why not enjoy life? I've been back and forth between DAW and DAWless more times than I can count. NOW, we have amazing all-in-one workstations that are as good as DAW, like MPC Force, Key 61, and obviously the greats like, Kronos, Nautilus, Fantom. (I hate yamaha, so I'm not giving them much of a mention). Just have fun! Who cares.
Another question: Can you play ambient without delay and/reverb? It's so easy to drown everything in reverb and then call it ambient. I know your videos aren't meant to be that serious (which I like) - and I like to deal with questions such as this at the moment...
I am pretty sure you can. Use a piano with sustain and play something like Glass or Reich. Use a combination of some nice synth pads. I think a bit of reverb can't hurt, but it's absolutely possible without it.
@@martingoldmannmusic Pushing down the sustain pedal on a piano... That's how I "learned" to play an instrument many years ago. Don't get me wrong: I love reverb in many forms (and machines).
@@leanderlumen Yesterday I saw this video about composing like Philip Glass - quite inspiring - no reverb, no delay: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qWGGubmShai5cdI.html
So do I
Hi Martin, can the same be done on the Syntakt? If so can you explain please ? Thanks in advance🙏🏻
Sorry, I do not own a Syntakt. But I think there might be a similar feature.
A fitting day in history for a moon echo. Hope all's well!
Everything is fine here. Thank you :) (Didn’t think about the moon landing - you are absolutely right.)
Hey Martin, good to hear from you. Been quite musically speaking for a while any plans for more?
Hi Anthony, I hope you are doing well :) No plans for this channel or my musical journey. Focussing on my main channel about Apple products. Also I am doing less ambient music while enjoying it more. (Also I try to play guitar almost every day. But that is something nobody should hear ;-) )
Well Martin it is good to hear from you. I saw you were focusing more on your Apple tech channel. I have also been taking a bit of a back seat myself. Been a crazy time since Aug last year. I retired, (slightly early) 4 funerals (friends) and one wedding (niece) and some health issues to boot. Funny old time but returning now.
Well, it is good to have you back :) A lot changed for the better for me when I got my ADHD diagnosis last October. Guess we all have to keep on keeping on.

Great track! Meditative and hypnotic!
Can hear slöer birds! Nice 👍 and also for georgious for thankful Start in the week. Dong 4 the day 🔔 Ahoi
Thank you ☺️
Grässlich!
Danke!
A great way to begin a new workweek (after a little break from it all last week). As always, great work, Martin 😀
Thank you Christopher and happy working :)
💚💚💚
:)
So good. Love these slow videos too.
Thank you - yeah those slow vids are fun :)
I'm such a gatekeeper. I got so bad that i realized I, myself, had to stop making the crap noise i was making. So, I sold all my gear and started making art. But, now i need someone to tell me what 'real art' is.
I left your video after 2:10 😛😈
Yeah, I should have said that at the end of my video ;-)
So uts just a laptop keyboard? Same as OP-1 Field? How does it get velocity key tho, can normal laptop keyboard achieve it too?
I've never quite understood what ambient drone types find so fascinating about clouds, trees, etc. Is there something ominous behind those clouds and bushes?
Is it ok to put the out of the synth (mother32) into the input of a guitar amp? I have a custom champ 57, should be nice but dunno if is a too strong signal
Thanks, so if i want to use velocity with mi akai board and midi 5din plug I have to set the setup mode to 10. Right? Normally without any patches and to factory setup I don’t have velocity on my keys
Oh god. Yes! I should narrow down my space to no more than 6 things (& get to f'king know them!)
I'm 53 yrs old, I have tinnitus in my left ear and I'm managing to understand this instrument after a week. I'm no genius, but patience and intuition are key to working with this. Really good video btw. Glad to see us old farts are still musically active.
I thought you were the breaking bad guy gone synth 😮 😂 I love your channel, you have great taste in gear 🐳
Finally the answer I was looking for, thank you Martin!
You are very welcome :)
Are you running this through a reverb pedal? I run my monologue through a Nightsky (without which it would be way too dry and boring)
If I remember correctly I used a reverb in my DAW.
Very helpful , thank you. Excellent video.
Awesome tips thanks ! It still bucks me off and tramples my ears but I enjoy it even more now
Software can be and is fun, but the GAS is real in the software world as well. I speak from experience :D Logically I understand that I try to compensate my lack of skills through it, but understanding it logically doesn't seem to translate to actually grasping it emotionally for some reason. One more VSTi, one more course, then I'll be there. Nope, you're never there buddy. Only if you stop and do some of that damn music, you might reach that point, but not with buying more and more. I guess it's because actually doing the thing is hard, and I try to avoid doing what's hard...
Die Kunst ist die Natur des Menschen. Man is an artist.
How do I get the mother to random? I did exactly what you did but it does not play in random mode. I’ve even seen another tutorial do random mode. And they hit the 9 instead of 4. And their way didn’t work for me either. What am I doing wrong?
update the firmware.
How come every time I follow a tutorial on how to do this I don’t get the same outcome? Like literally pause and do everything the same way. But I can’t get it to do it for me.
Hey Martin, .. nice to hear from you. I like the gritty synth effect. 😊
Thank you. 😊
Niiiiiice! (not that in Italy)

Thank you :)
Cool!!🎹
Danke :)
instead of “sweet spots” its got angry spots… which are pretty sweet. 😅
definitely, yes :)
A couple of year ago I sold quite all my gear. It was a long process, but it was worth the necessary time . I felt super free then !! Now, whenever I feel the urgency to buy new stuff, I just procrastinate a couple of weeks and suddenly that urgency disappears !!
This is great 👍
Hello! I was going to ask a very sad question, did you remove the Separated - a meditative Dark Ambient Journey and the youtube channel it was under? It was very nice and I was just wondering if that was yours as I found a link, also if there's a way I can download that I would love to know. But thank you
Hi, yes I have removed this channel. I need to streamline and reduce my involvement with KZread and dark ambient music. Also, I never thought anyone would miss my drones :) Anyway: I decided to create a playlist on this channel and upload all my Dark Ambient Drones here. Please check out this link: kzread.info/head/PLuB8XZ8tj-DrMmh11za5tcL8h7co1PH9c (It will take me a few days to upload all the tracks.)
@@martingoldmannmusic yes, this is much cooler to have them in a list and do other things if you want but letting them be there. I will be excited for the uploads as I look for the ones we listen too, me and her spend hours making stories together and for when the story gets dark it's 💜 Thank you for seeing me!
Thank you for listening :) I will continue to upload.
very clever :)
I was futzing about with my modular the other day and thought of your Mother 32 video, pleased to see a new experiment here.
Oh, thank you for coming back :)
Music and video make me feel as if the landscape would explode in the next second. Maybe last night's moderately good Sci-Fi movie (“The Beyond”) is still having its effect on me. Best, Markus
Danke, Markus. The landscape is still here and doing well ;-)
Thank you
Thanks for listening :)
A real sense of menace. What will the camera reveal?
I actually stopped panning before my Dalamatian dog came into the frame.
@@martingoldmannmusic almost as menacing as my Labrador Retriever!
