The classes require you to sign up in advance, so they don't get very crowded. Have you booked your cruise on the Equinox yet? If not, please reach out to us. @8:05 -- Just in case you didn't find out later, those are the doors for the 2nd floor of the Edge Villas. On deck 15 are the same stateroom doors as all the other cabins, and it leads to the main level of the room. Inside the room at the top of the steps to the bedroom/master bath area, there is the second door which is actually TWO doors. The door you saw is actually one of two doors (weather? noise?), with a "standard" stateroom door directly behind it. As an aside.. those outer doors are a battle after a few drinks from the retreat bar 😁

    Excellent ship IMO. I like that there is a Tamarind Bar with views and then the restaurant. You can go to the bar before or after the restaurant or just go to the bar and have views. Crows Nest observation lounge, a staple on HAL, combines card and other games plus has a bar, seats with ocean views, dance floor, great area. Wish you spent a bit more time there showing the different sections of it. Also, I think the deck area in the aft is excellent because there isn't a lot there and you actually enjoy just the deck and the sea. It's an old-school way of doing things (pre verandas this and the promenade decks were used for ocean viewing outside) but it works for some cruisers, especially those that have cruised decades ago. I like the small touches of the tiles and the theming on the ship owing to the Dutch tradition somewhat. Lots of nautical theme and lots of nice artwork everywhere. Ocean Bar looks like the Ocean Bar on HAL ships and it's a cozy and warm lounge space. That's my favorite parts of ships. I know a lot of people love restaurants but I love lounges. Has a nice wood floor area that can be used as a dance floor (another thing I find important on ships that seem to be going away unfortunately) 15:29. Why I don't know. People love to dance and always have and always will IMO. Ships need to devote more spaces to dancing, not just eating and drinking IMO. You mention the Ascent as cutting edge? Why? It's missing so much compared to this ship IMO. So many cozy lounge areas and this ship feels intimate and like a ship vs. a resort hotel. Look at the library on this ship. Excellent. I think looking at this ship is bolsters for me all of the social areas for mingling and music that I love on a ship. The dueling piano bars have real pianos as opposed to the digital ones with piano shells that some HAL ships have. I do wonder with it being besides the casino if you don't hear the dings from the casino slot machines. The atrium is cozy rather than expansive and I like that. I feel you sort of rushed through this tour as opposed to the more slower pace of some other tours. But I thank you for your tours. There's a lot of art work and details the ship has that are wonderful. I guess this isn't your ship if you want something less traditional and a more interesting or lively pool area and deck space. If you prioritize more specialty restaurants, this isn't your ship either. Not that there isn't good food, however. But if you want to socialize and dance, or be in a place that offers dancing and dance floors, and have so many dedicated varied spaces for that, this is quite nice. I feel like the Pinnacle class improves on BB King and some other spaces and that's what a new class should do. But I feel like all the important elements from the Statendam class ships are still here in this class of ship.

  • @cruiseandtravel
    @cruiseandtravel7 ай бұрын

    It was another one of those invitations whereby we could only spend a few hours onboard. We'll go back one day and give it a slower, more in-depth tour. Sorry for it feeling rushed, Benjamin. 😟 It definitely deserves a closer look. More than that, it deserves to be high on anyone's list of what ship to try next. Cutting-edge doesn't always mean progress. We still think the Edge Series of ships from Celebrity are cutting-edge, but we are - and will always be - traditionalist cruisers at heart. We agree with a lot of what you're saying. On the other hand, we really do enjoy the Edge Series. The good news is, we cruise A LOT and don't have to choose one or the other. 😉 We don't envy those who do. There is so much brought to the table by all lines that is extraordinary. How could one ever choose!?

    The positive of the Retreat. Suite passengers get prime real estate on the top 3 decks forward of the ship. The negative is the regular passengers lose valuable public space like the Sky Lounge on Solstice ships. I say this on every tour of this ship. It has all the amenities and even more of the restaurants and specialty dining venues anyone would want. Great art, nice deck space, solarium pool and spa, theater and a few novel areas like magic carpet and Eden. It's chic and in its design. But the major shortcoming of all the ships in this class is they lack varied music lounges with varied atmospheres for those that like music to dance to. It's very close to Beyond but a few tweaks and the Daniel Boulud boutique restaurant looks different. I also notice on this ship there seems to be a lot of big open empty spaces. Seems kind of a waste. You guys provide a definite style of ship tour and you're very enjoyable to listen to. Thanks for your hard work and I'm looking for your tours of HAL and Princess ships, particularly the Sphere ships when the first in the series comes out next year.

    The Royal Class ships are kind of traditional. The buffet area looked pretty incredible, extensive. I would do well on this ship. But is it right for everyone? I can see some picking other ships over this one because it isn't quite as contemporary in look/feel as the Celebrity Edge ships, Solstice to a degree, NCL's newest class, Virgin to a degree . But on balance, it offers everything Celeb does, maybe not as nice a theater or extensive deck area but it has the indoor music lounges where Celeb doesn't on the Edge ships. I counted Vista, Crown Bar and Grill (absolutely wonderful space) which is exactly the type of supper club environment I think is missing on the Edge ships that I think Celeb should do with 2 of their specialty restaurants. And HAL Pinnacle is similar too being traditional with a lot too offer plus HAL has that wonderful new-tech theater. The Princess live area is lounge like as well and a show area and really is kind of a brilliant space. Churchill's Cigar Lounge (Celebrity used to have Michael's Club then turned it into a suite retreat) so another plus for Princess though it is really small and not really as nice as Michael's was or the equivalent on the Royal Princess. Take 5 jazz lounge looks terrific and kind of intimate. "Another lounge" on the atrium that's called Crooner's and forget it, I'm in heaven. This is my kind of ship. I feel the same way about lounges that some feel about restaurants. If I had a choice, more lounges less restaurants but in actuality, let both types of lovers get what they want. Bring on the restaurants and lounges and both types of cruisers, and sometimes there are those that love both, are happy campers. I think this ship blows away the Beyond and other Edge ships. Like I said, it's not as chic. It's more traditional but it is just as upscale. And it has a bit more character, recognizably Princess. I feel it has more content in it and utilizes its space better for socializing with way more elegant socializing spaces where the Beyond is a whole lot of restaurants and a few social spaces. The Princess theater may not be quite as nice as the Edge ships but it's really elegant in its own right and probably big enough. It also seems Princess didn't place specialty restaurants in the atrium area. The atrium has lounge-like overlook circular areas and again, this kind of blows away the Grand Plaza on the Edge ships. I may even like this more than the Solstice class ships. It has more lounges but the Solstice is a stylish ship with some lounges. One thing I do notice is Celebrity has no announcements where I do hear them on Princess. I think it's more premium not to have them. Points go to Celebrity here. Both Celebrity and Princess seem to offer premium ships here. But I think, overall, Celebrity, on Edge ships, crams its social activities into the Martini Bar and The Club and Eden where Princess spreads them out into many lounges. That's where the Princess ship is just a more social ship. The Princess buffet seems to equal Celebrity's with the Edge having the nicer looking buffet IMO. Maybe Celeb wins at more specialty restaurants and depending on the type of cruiser, it's either a plus or minus. Both have them, but Celeb may have more variety of them. And Celeb probably does the suite thing better. Gelato, free or extra cost on Princess? I prefer that small area cafe like vs. the huge Cafe al Bacio on Celebrity. The food looks great. Celeb or Princess? I really don't know. Celebs may be a bit prettier. I love your tours. This one looked a bit tougher to do as it was embarkation day and that's why there were so many announcements. I think this ship is great and I'm impressed by it. I think it's a better ship than the Edge ships and equal to HAL's Pinnacle class of ships. Maybe similar in quality to Cunard's Queen Victoria in at least the regular class areas and access. Overall, the Edge ships in terms of variety are last but they have novel areas like Eden and a chic/contemporary yet a bit classic quality lacking in HAL and Princess. The shows on Edge are probably more contemporary and the theater is more high tech with its screens. The Edge ships win in terms of variety of dining venues so if you are on the ship to experience dining in many fabulous venues, there's no beating them and especially if you are a suite passenger. HAL and Princess seem very close in terms of offering music/dance venues plus restaurants plus deck areas. They all have great buffets. Food overall may go to Celebrity but probably not by much. But it seems the foodie ship of the 3. Princess the romantic lounge ship and HAL a mix of the two but also more of the lounge that out and out foodie ship that Celebrity is. If Celebrity can get back their great lounges from the Century class (Crystal Room on the Century and the Savoy Nightclub on the Galaxy are two of my favorite lounges on any ship), then they're brilliant. But it'll have to be in the ships that follow the Edge class. Celebrity really has to think of bringing back more social and music venues of the type Princess and HAL offers.

    "This one looked a bit tougher to do..." Truth be told, Benjamin, some of our ship tours are done when we're invited to explore the ships for just a few hours. They're rushed, and we don't feel like they're our best work. But often, fans like the videos anyway. We prefer to be on a ship for a few days, at the very least, before we film it and opine on it. We like to see how it operates, how the crew does their job, how the food is, how the entertainment is, etc. That way, we can give a better assessment to our audience and clients. Quick tours often become more like a sales pitch and less like an honest review. We started this channel not to be shills for the cruise lines. We started it to be advocates for our audience and clients. You may have noticed that, as compared to other cruise KZreadrs, we're not always falling all over ourselves to say nice things. Sometimes, we just have to call them like we see them - much as you did in your commentary. Our integrity is more important than what the cruise lines think of us. Our reputation depends on our audience and clients being able to trust us. All of this is our long way of apologizing for the "tough" look of this ship tour. Again, we appreciate your compliments and engagement. Hopefully, you're also a subscriber. 😉 If not, please consider subscribing. And share our videos with everyone you know! lol 😂 We're trying to get to 10,000 subscribers! 😍

    Thank you so much. Conversational, easy going, thorough, secret stairways, nooks and crannies showed galore. You guys nail it. This is worth the hour to watch it and the amount of hard work and editing that goes into this is highly appreciated. Please, get your metallic suits on because I'm going to blast this ship. But I'll complement it first. It's the weakest premium cruise ship IMO of the HAL and Princess offerings for a particular type of cruiser. But it is an amazing ship for other types of cruiser. But I happen to be the type of cruiser that this is weak sauce for. Cruising is individual. Some cruise for food and verandas, some for the pool activities, some for the deck areas and spa, some prefer active and like all the diversions on the family lines like RCI and MSC and NCL. But the premium cruisers like less adventure park stuff and tend to go for food, dancing, quiet spots, elevated service, a more upscale looking ship in terms of decor. Beyond delivers for restaurant choices. I love the change to 4 main dining rooms. And two of these remind of the old Celebrity ships dining rooms, Zenith and Horizon. I love that they all have their own ambiance. The Aqua class dining room, Blu, is lovely. The Boulud area is almost boutique and I'm positive the food , service and preparation is some of the finest at sea. So, spot on. For veranda kind of people it's hit or miss. Like the infinity verandas, then it's good. Like the regular type, you may need to upgrade or be stuck with this type and it may be a dealbreaker. Polarizing element. For deck space lovers I'm not sure if the shaded area is good but it sure does seem to offer the infinity pools and loungers and spaces you'd love. The outdoor bars and lounge areas are terrific looking IMO. Delivers. For theater people, the shows look upgraded and the theater spot is upgraded. If you like a dance club and such, the Club delivers. But... More to come on that. And, the suite area is your devine ship within a ship if you want to spend that type of dough. But..., If you are a old-school Celebrity fan and grew up on ships like the Zenith, Horizon, Century Class, and then still can do the Millennium class and dig the Solstice lass and like some of the spaces on those ships, especially Solstice class, then a lot are missing. Hence why I give the Edge class a thumbs down. I live for lounges on ships. I want multiple choices. And by lounge I mean indoors, not an eatery type like Cafe al Bacio but more like a dance in music type like the Sky Lounge. That lounge also has the ocean views. Then there are elegant lounges like Michael's Pub used to be on Century, Millennium and Solstice, the latter two are now for Retreat pax. So, here's the Zenith, all of 48,000 tons with a choice of Harry's Tavern lounge, Rendezvous, Celebrity Lounge, Horizon lounge on top of the ship for the sea observation lounge, a disco, and an aft lounge. That's a great choice and I'd go in depending on the crowd, music, ambiance. On HAL there is the Music Walk that has a blues lounge, a dueling piano lounge, and a rock lounge and several other lounges. On Princess there are like 5 as well on their Royal class ships. On Edge we have the night club, not really the type of lounge I'm looking for but I'll call it one and guess what, nothing else. Sorry folks. That to me is an unforgivable omission on this size and class of ship. I feel betrayed. Alienated. And the Sky Lounge for viewing is gone. Poof. It's now the posh Luminae up top. It's gorgeous. But it's not for most pax. Betrayed. Couldn't they give us both? Also gone are the library, the card room, the Hideaway which is a place to just chill out in the atrium. That's just too many treasured spots that Edge ships deleted. Another complaint is that the Raw on 5 and Bistro which turns into Le Petit Cafe has to deal with the activities going on in the Martini Bar and it can get noisy. And the Martini Bar lost its intimacy and is now part of the Grand Plaza which feels like a spot in a lobby. Eden? I can see where this can be a happening spot on the ship. But there are complaints about views of the show when it is on and crowding and even some altercations. So, maybe this spot needs tweaking because the same issues are on all the Edge ships. Also, it looks kind of casual to me, not as posh as the rest of the ship and almost like it belongs on another ship. I don't see much appeal in the Magic Carpet but it is another space to chill and socialize. The ship is a mixed bag and not a home run because of the lack of a choice in lounges. Other cruise lines deliver and don't take away the Sky Lounge equivalent. That omission takes away some loyal Celebrity cruisers from the line. They do a lot of talking about it on Celebrity forums. Hopefully my critique is balanced here. There's a lot to like but I can't warm up to this class. I also feel a bit let down by the decor not being the usual Celebrity evocative of retro-modern recreations of 1920s-1960s posh styles in hotels and clubs. But, the more I look at it, the more I see how attractive and upscale much of it is. I think an improvement can be made to figure out where to put a card room on this ship and to turn some specialty dining areas into posh supper clubs so adding a bar and club area with dance floor. I elect the Fine Cut Steak House as a supper club due to the views but it would have to be closed off to have it's own music and dancing or the Grand Plaza will overwhelm it at times. I also would love to see a full bar version of the World Class bar as that decor is snazzy there but as is, it's just a small area with overlooks of the Grand Plaza. There are some really creative drinks, and yes, costly, at that bar. Plenty people will be thrilled with this ship and class of ship. So if you don't need lounges and are fine dancing in the limited areas of the inside of the ship which are The Club and the Martini Bar mostly and sometimes Eden, you'll be fine aboard this slick designed ship even if it is more Miami Resort with a few deco areas than the usual Celebrity style of decor. It is pretty. Also, the art rocks. It's great like all Celebrity ships.

    Thanks for the nice, conversational tour. Extraordinary tour! IMO, this is the best class of Celebrity ship because it offers something for different types of premium cruisers. I'd just like to turn the Tuscan Steak House into an upscale supper club. The aft views would be nice to dance to music to and sip wine or cocktails after one dines. I also know the Martini Bar is too small but I don't like what they've done with it on the Edge ships. It's so ridiculously evocative of some swanky 1930s club on this ship and yet with intimate sections. But, yes, can get crowded and noisy and you can see the bartender show probably better on Edge ships. Note: The Retreat used to be Michael's Club. Michael's Club started off as a Cigar smoking lounge on the IMO magnificent Century class ships and then later turned into a Piano Bar. But now, ship within a ship and reserved for suite passengers. I thought it was one of the fanciest lounges on Celebrity ships and this looks redone and nothing like the original Michael's Lounge. Crafts Social used to be Cellar Masters. It was a wine tasting lounge. Now it's a beer and wine tasting and other lounge. It's kind of a sports bar but seems more lounge like than the version on Edge ships. I want to see your Beyond tour. I'm not well suited for the Edge ships. This is my style. Celebrity's decor style is retro-modern and art-deco influenced and you can see it so much here and especially in the Martini Bar of this ship. But Beyond is an Edge ship and has different spaces and didn't carry over more of the lounges type of spaces and small social spaces of this ship, my major problem with Edge ships. I'll say what I like and strongly dislike on your Beyond video. Also, people tend to fear going on "older" ships but notice how well it is maintained and at one point in the Crafts Social area you see guys on a latter maintaining part of the ship. For me, an old ship is 40 years old. This ship is relatively new from my perspective but for today's cruisers, any past class of ship is "older." This ship also has had some refreshes done in some areas. My favorite all-time ship on Celebrity? Galaxy. Favorite dinner on Celebrity? Zenith. Today's food is good but in the early to mid-1990s it was amazing. Maybe the MDR food was close to the better specialty dining. It was that good.
