  Some great memories here. I 'm from Liverpool and l was a 16 year old office boy working in the city in 1963. The Cavern club on Mathew street did lunchtime sessions back then and l used to go every day Monday to Friday. I got to see the Beatles regularly before they hit the big time. And for a short while John Lennon and his new wife Cynthia were my neighbours on Garmoyle road in the suburbs. I would see them regularly walking to the bus stop to go down town, or to Penny Lane to meet up with the rest of the group in a coffee bar. I used to go to that same coffee bar myself , it was known as Frank Duchy's after the Dutch owner. We all called it Dutchy's for short. In that first year of the Beatles popularity their drummer was a guy called Pete Best, he lived around the corner on Penny Lane. He was eventually replaced by Ringo Starr, who was formerly the drummer for another local pop group, Rory Storm and The Hurricanes. He was deemed a better drummer than Pete Best and suited their needs better.
