Detox it immediately with prime water conditioner then go about changing 30 percent of the water every day. I wouldn't do 90 percent unless you have fish dieing on you
I'm sorely missing the regular videos; I hope all is well and your tanks are still cruising along!
Thank you for your help no a/c El. To hi apt. around 92 to 96 in the summer.
How would you do a 75 gallon
If my tank is not designed for a sump how would I create a weir would I have to drill holes in the glass
This is the best sump video. Period. Time to binge in the rest of your videos 🙌
Noticed the red sticks left off they are a pain for me I can only use one hand ugh so if I can just drop in and go yes
what thickness of filter floss are you putting in the fluval?
Thanks for the video. This was really helpful. Are there any fish tank lights you recommend for a 55 gallon tank?
Does anyone have a link to that rock hide in the aquarium?
Hi , I've just had a quick look online for a Spectrum nitrate canister like the one you have, but cant find anything that looks like it and wondered if you could tell me what your make and model is so I can narrow down my search, maybe you could add a link to it in your video description?
Great video mate really helped me out! 👍
What sand is that your using...
River sand is good
(my other channel) Well done for giving the filter away - that is highly commendable since 99% of channels take everything and give nothing back. You're obviously a decent guy.
(my other channel) Just to confirm, the FX4 will easily hold 3kg of media and the FX6 will easily hold 5kg of media. Assuming that you're using proper media (e.g. Biohome Ultimate) that makes the FX4 suitable for a normally stocked tank of up to 300 litres and the FX6 suitable for a normally stocked tank of up to 500 litres (if you expect to achieve a full cycle 0,0,0 in a natural set up with no expensive chemical media.
Thanks for the shout out .... oh wait...what? No worries, man - as long as people are seeing that there are different options to setting up their filters it's all good. Best of luck with the channel and feel free to ring me any time.
Liked, loved and subbed. I'm getting back into aquariums and always had external canisters with in-built heaters. Subs scared me because all the ones I saw had open air sections and I was paranoid about the tank draining if a fault occurred. Thanks for this video. Peace from Berkshire.
This is my first real challenge as a fish keeper so far.I have 3 shrimp,10 snails,6 d꙰a꙰n꙰i꙰o꙰s꙰ a꙰n꙰d꙰ a꙰ B꙰e꙰t꙰t꙰a꙰
You can buy fine wire mesh and cut it to size to fit the Fluval and it works perfectly
what thickness is best?
It’s called an impeller not a propeller. 😊
Look, it's the centerpiece of the party
@@bojohannesen4352 😆
K1 = microplastic
Does the tap water hurt the fish?
Yes. Tap water may have chemicals in it, you can buy a water conditioner from the pet store and follow it's directions and add it to the water
There's enough room at the bottom of the cannister that you can add a course bio medium that way the water gets filtered before it even travels up the putter rings
No way! 🤯Thank you so much! Exactly what I needed to know.
No one likes reduced suction 🤣 i wouldnt reduce it for you 🤫
haha! I thought the same thing when he said that! Dirty minds think alike! lol
Do you need to clean detritus out of a sump like this?
Interessantes Video, toll erklärt 👍
I use the quick start seem to be good
Bkth products sucks
Well thats what they are supposed to do! lol Actually neither look like I want to waste my money on! I rather just use my syphon vac! Plus I don think its taking out the water. I have a reef tanks so I have two change water every two weeks!
So does your spelling, and your [redacted]
Turn that Stupid music OFF!
This video needs more views and thumbs up.
K1 in a static filter does nothing
Can someone please post the dimensions of the oval shape of the Eheim? I am interested in the narrower direction of the oval. Is it less than 2 inches wide” (50.8 mm)?
Great helpful video. You have a new subscriber 🎉
Where did you buy your filter from mate
I bought one of those plug in Fluval gravel cleaners. To be fair I am not really impressed with the suction of it. It really is not up to the job. It is an expensive piece of plastic really. It needs a more powerful motor. I reuse the cotton filters so many times until they need replacing. I have also cut out some very fine micro mesh to fit. It saves having to buy their expensive filters. I also have a Python gravel cleaner. This is pretty good, especially for draining and replacing water, but the only problem with it is the amount of water that can be wasted by running the tap to create a decent vacuum. The other problem is you can soon run out of water in your aquarium before you have properly cleaned it. You can clean the gravel without the coldwater tap on, but it's not really any different to using a cheap syphon pump. I just wish someone would bring out a decent gravel cleaner for once, unless anyone has any feedback on a decent one that they have used...🤔
thanks for the filter tips
My Fluval 307, which I've had since 2011, died after a power outage today. I've ordered an FX4, which will arrive tomorrow. This video is tremendously useful! I've ordered the media for upgrading the filter, though I'll transfer the ceramic bio media from my old filter to the new one. If I were in the UK, I would have used your links, but I'm in the US and anyway, some links are no longer valid. Again, thank you for this video.
How to contact you please.would like some information thanks
It seems like These vacs have a lot of flaws that need adapting, not a cheap item 52 pounds plus filters etc, but still require improvement.thanks for the information
Thanks for some useful tips.
Great video thank you so much really informative. We’re new to tank life and was really worrying about maintenance on our fx4
😬❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️❤️♥️❤️❤️❤️❤️☮️
I should of watched this today I just stripped my tank and started back up with sand but didn’t wash my sand as the aquarium shop said it’s pre washed
I know you made this video a couple years back. The Countryside C3 resin and nitrate removers are no longer available. What would your comparable upgrade recommendation be for the FX4? Thank you in advance.
The nitrate and ammonia 'pods' from Resin Products would be a good substitute. As far as I've heard the C3 breached some sort of patent but the RP resins work very well.
I'm surprised you didn't mention that the fluval also has a water exchange valve (tube sold separately)
Probably didn’t mention it because it doesn’t work that well. Moves water very slowly and you are still working with buckets. The thing to keep in mind when using these things with buckets is that you can only siphon from the bucket down to the min. water line of the power vacuum and it doesn’t have enough head to raise water from the floor level up over the side of the tank.
Tks bud
I set up my first tank today, and I used Fluval stratum substrate. I rinsed it as it says under its directions but still it was almost pitch black. I let it settle for hours and tried to do a gentle little change in my tank, and it became pitch black again. I used this method and actually cap sand on the substrate in a water filled tank Lol. It looks a lot less cloudy now as there are some sand dust particles that would be cleared by the filter anyway.
Your mistake was washing the fluval substrate, your washing away the goodness. Washing the sand is a must tho
