Though the documentary is well made but have a confusion about the Rev Macfarlane that he is mentioned that he passed away at the age of 47.

Kalimpong is the nearest to heaven on earth. I had the good fortune to serve in kalimpong for two years. It was the best part of my 39 years as a direct IPS officer

Your details about Kalimpong seems incorrect and incomplete! This region were included in the British East India Company in 1865. This region were declared a sub division of Darjeeling in 1916 and a sub divisional officer was appointed by the British government.

I feel along with Lepcha's there were Limbus too but mostly concentrated more on the Western side of what is now Darjeeling-Sikkim region. Those with proper knowledge of old traditions will tell that when a Limbu marries a Rai or Lepcha he does not need to to the "jaat ma haalne ceremony" thus signifying the closeness between the tribes. Also there are many Limbu Lepcha villages in eastern nepal and western Darjeeling-Sikkim that live like family (some member of a Lepcha family will have a Limbu cousin andi vice versa...not that it doesn't happen in our Nepali speaking community.. just pointing out that this used to happen since times gone by). Also for those of you who do not know- Limbu is still spoken in villages in the Western regions of Darjeeling and West Sikkim, and also to my knowledge Limbu, Lepcha and Bhutia are thr three languages that are taught till masters level in Sikkim University. In fact there are many Lepcha and Limbu clans with the same name- Loksom is one that i know. Even if we go to pre-British history the presence of Limbu's along with Lepchas can clearly be seen especially during the early years of the establishment of the kingdom of Sikkim. However now there is hardly any proper study on the Limbu presence here..idk why that is ..could be because of politics or just holding on to some British or a part of the British narrative. Or it could also be due to the gradual decline of Limbu power in this region after we refused to convert to Buddhism( on account of our great saint Sirijunga Te-ongsi being murdered on behest of the Sikkimese court ). Also there were some more rebellion's after that but with each rebellion we gradually lost power. Also i feel the invasion from the east by the then Prithivi Narayan Shah (unifier of Nepal) also played a huge part. Whatever it be-we,our presence was slowly buried in the annals of history ... almost like a footnote. This really pains me to say. I just wish some research would also be done towards it. [For anyone getting offended - this is just history -im trying to lay out the facts as-is...that doesn't make me any less Gorkhali nor am i trying to offend my Lepcha brothers and sisters]
