  Guys the issue is that when writing a fiction your goal is to build empahty for the MC and having everyone laugh at her does that with flying colors. Judging by all the comments about it. If the stroy is allowed to play out more I am sure we will find it works itself out in the end. But we have to start somewhere.

  Once my dad caught a praying mantis and that time i was very afraid of them, but then we started catching spiders for the orayimg mantis, we call her macy :) but just a week ago we found her laying on her back and not moving, my dad says that eell wait another week and if it still dosnt move we will bury it :(( i spent 6 months with it now:((

  If you wanted to show that laughter could be a path to healing, you need to do iy in a way that doesn't discourage people from actually getting the help they need. Re-write the story. I know it sucks cause you invested heavily in this, but you will inadvertantly f up a lot of peoples lives by showing therapy as an unsafe place to be.

  As a person who's been in therapy for years for different reasons (all because my mental health aint too good and my trauma be trauma-ing) I think this is cute and funny. It doesn't feel like there's a deeper message. I don't think there needs to be one. It's just...silly lol. Bugs that are either too much of what their real life buggy counterparts are, or not enough. The build up of them being all "yeah we'll accept you! Nothing is too weird! That dude is a spider SCARED of spiders" for the pay off to be "LOL MOSQUITO SCARED OF BLOOD?! YOUR NUTRITIONAL SOURCE?!" It's...cute. There's no big deal to it. As far as jokes go, this is no where near offensive.
