Looks fantastic. The breeze must be up near 20 knots? I see the island in the background looks very similar to Samoa
better turn off your cell phones first ! ok,
Thanks for this mini doc wonderful coverage!
i guess when you don't work for a living you bum around paddling. must be nice to lazy locals.
Hi JJ - or you wake up at 4:30AM to put in your practice... and race on weekends!
Try taking it up ... can get one out of such a sad stink life mood.
Oh boy 😂 If you only knew. Come out and try it. Perpetuating health and wellness (amongst other things) for decades if not centuries.
Can somebody please explain to me why the asymmetry of the outriggers? my guess is that the shorter side is only there in case the wind or waves overpower the leverage on the longer side? Does anybody know if anyone has built one of these big enough to cross the Pacific?
possible with lots of support. Check out OC surf and distance. these are the baddest guys out there. This channel alone, Alenuihaha: 400 plus roundtrips in these currents is phenomenal sailing and paddling. They just make it look easy. Real athlete, and skillset to consider this stuff
The saying comes from Nantucket sleigh ride when the harpooned whale pulled the four man rowboat until it sunk or the whale got tired.
None of these unlimited canoes are built in Hawaii. They all built in China. In Hawaii we race in the Hawaiian canoe racing association not China canoe association.
Only 12 years too late!
Pure stupidity to even try. Organizers should be ashamed.
What are these people thinking. Not with their brains.
Eddy would go.
Ridiculous to be out in those conditions……
don't those knucklehads need life jackets on?
Amazing!!!

Not carnage.

Go Equal Pay .... lol
looked like fun to me...
I would call it a coaster ride. As in roller coaster.🤔
What’s the title u would give it ?
1)Go Biĝ! Or Go Home!...2)Only The Strong Survive....3)Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride...4) Alualu ke Anueanue....5)Only in Hawaii
Calling that a sleigh ride is really stupid 🤪🤪🤪 Is that the best name you could come up with.
What’s the best title u have?
@@OceanPaddlerTV1 how about Coaster ride.
Sleigh ride is the terminology most people use
Total gestört, da raus zu gehen. Unverantwortlich.
It's one thing to try paddle into and punch through that size waves on a 6-man outrigger, but another level of stupid to allow your canoe to be so close to other canoes in that size of waves. Were there rules, saying they had to be so close together?
I have to assume the people in the boats can't see the HUGE WAVES...Idiots!
yes we can conquer mutha mature of course we can
Some of the people here need to watch Australian Surf Boat Races, they have been charging swells for years. 👍🇦🇺
Definitely not a North Swell as this harbor entrance faces due south. Seeing that it was September, more likely a Southwest, Southern Hemisphere, swell with long lulls. Hence the reason they gambled they could start the race safely.
very cool thank you.
💕Wow 💛💛💛🤍💛💛💛
Stupid
Epic
Stop speaking shit.ur just out of nappies. A big scam
getting wet punching through a wave is one thing,, having a full canoe land your head, maybe not so hot.
Fantastic!
One of my favorite waves. Say hello to my good friend Stuart Ferrieman.....
I sailed into this habor many times in some heavy weather on my Rawson 30 ITA and Hunter 52 (ESCAPADE) and the scariest was on the Benetau 51 Oceanis where we had a little protection from 50 knot winds, but the harbor was closed out. I had charter guests for Honolulu Sailing Company new years day 1997 or 98. I timed the set ok, but It got a little sketchy when a gust hit us and I had a little too much jib out. The rudder felt like it wasn't doing much. Easing the jib helped. I hope no one was hurt in this video. The jetty is pretty unforgiving.
