Razorfist rant at 👉 ( 1:13:22 ). For those wondering, the surprise Razorfist rant/verbal lashing happened because someone in chat by the name of "Uncompetitive" accused him of chickening out of an impromptu debate that Craig thought about doing on the spot (which probably wouldn't have happened on this stream btw) by claiming that Razorfist's prior engagement was just an excuse he made on the spot. Seeing as said prior engagement was a real thing that many of Razorfist's audience already knew about and can back up the story plus the fact that he literally mentioned what the prior engagement was it's understandable why Razor was insulted by being called a liar and a coward in a single chat by someone so he blew up on this person which I personally found entertaining to watch. 1:13:22Uncompetitive

At 1:06:11 another correction... last year they actually did buy up Turbulent, the studio in Montreal, who was also largely responsible for helping bring PES online for server meshing. The Monreal studio art team has also largely been considered the MVPs of the five studios CIG runs, as they have very quick turnarounds and extremely high-quality output.
700M for 5 people with nothing to make a software studio and game engine to make three games all in parallel in the same time Bethesda with their existing tools and MS assist made Starfield that cannot do anything without a loading screen. The reason why the backers fight for it so hard is because the scam narrative has cost backer money in legal actions by 3 countries governments who eventually said no foul but add 20 more opt-in user agreements. Most recently the UK government made CIG at their (backers) expense turn over all their records to a 3rd party auditing firm when they applied to be allowed to get investor money to market the single player game they recently showed gameplay for. Auditors gave them a clean bill of health for records compliance and accounting and corporate governance, so they are allowed to take commercial investments now. The funding spikes you see are because of their 2 big events and sales in November and May where everyone can play for free and use all of the ~130 playable vehicles and it makes sales once people try it. All the backers get a financial report like a stock traded company yearly and monthly reports on project status of the MMO and single player game that will eventually be 3 titles in a war trilogy. They also produce 2 shows a week 30 weeks of the year where devs talk about the game dev process and answer questions. There is a reason studio's do not make games the way CIG did because its slow and expensive with a constant struggle against click baiters trying to cancel a game because they don't personally see the value. There is a whole reddit dedicated to trolling the players during the quarterly free fly weeks they have with a rage quit scoreboard. Wall Street or the giants in AAA studio land doesn't lose if it fails, the players do, so they gate keep the F out of it.
At 59:00 correction -- they have sped up. They were kind of slow up until 2020 or so. Funding skyrocketed as they moved toward alpha patch 3.15 or 3.16 as the persistent universe became more stable. 2021 and 2022 saw an absolute explosion in funding, and since 2022 they have now been generating $100 million per year as more features come online and they move closer to alpha 4.0/1.0.

The data is indirectly stored off property or in a data farm center. That information is forever on record, it's just not "accessible" to the company you singed up with. But even that part is untrue. I remember canceling my skype account almost 7 years ago then 4 years later resigned back up. It still had my contacts list and history of chats with old folks from my Freelancer game days.
I drop into SC once every few months, see a disappointing amount of progress and think "I'll come back later." Hopefully with the Sq42 team back on the PU things may get on track. Hopefully 3.23 is the start of that but I dont exactly have high hopes.
If Star Citizen hits $1 billion in development and marketing costs, they would need to average $5k from every current player (they have about 200k/day) _just to break even._ That number absolutely staggers me.

Not going to lie, the server switching thing they created for Star Citizen has potential to change the industry. Still not gonna pay for it though.
My brother and sister in law have that exact "well if they really want your information they can get it" attitude whenever I say I avoid using sites like Air BnB that you know are selling your data and it drives me nuts. Yes, lots of sites do it but that doesn't mean you shouldn't actively avoid the ones that you KNOW for absolutely certain are doing it.
This is one of those moments Razor looks like a punk, they challenge him, Razor confidently accepts, Craig offered to make it happen, Razor has someplace to be. He pulls the same move anytime anyone wants to put him on a podcast or bring him out to an event. I was banned for disagreeing with T child abuse on Twitter years ago. I haven't even tried to make a new account. Elon never un-banned my account, obviously. Any claims to un-ban the political bans were a lie. That was only for celebrity accounts. Even if they had un-banned my account, I wouldn't want to use it. It's a huge waste of time. You give your political opinions on the current event and nobody cares. Any time you try to have dialogue with someone of opposing political views, you're accused of harassment. It's just a waste of time.

Ah, Star Citizen. I completely missed the kickstarter, but backed it around 2014 for the single player portion. Then I decided to check how it was doing in 2016 and really got sucked into the PU thingy. It was fun flying the spaceships in the little test universe they had set up. I spent a little too much money in the ship jpegs at this time, but in my defence my rule was to only get ones that were already flyable. Also got Elite: Dangerous around this time to scope out the competition. 2017 was a dead year for SC with the promised major update getting delayed all the time. I drifted over to Elite a little bit, but considered myself mainly a SC player. However, when the promised 3.0 came out, I really started to lose interest. A little paradoxical considering how it expanded the test universe. I really moved to Elite and eventually stopped playing SC altogether. Should check it out again one of these days. Also UnReal World. I'm a Finn, so of course I know about this Finnish Iron Age survival RPG. Those guys make funny show of gratitude videos.
