Ya know... as much as I do love an inline engine and especially a Ford 300, there are some situations where it's just not the best way to go. Sounds like that little 351 you're tossing together is going to be the hot number for your rolling brick on wheels. Acres and Acres of torque. Very good engine idle with just a tad of bark to it. I'll be looking forward to seeing this one up and cooking. I think you'll really like it a lot.

I need an electric fan on my 1974 am general truck. The gawt damn 6 blade mechanical just ain't cutting it anymore in summer. Temps 92-102. Engine overheats . Straight 6. My radiator is 16.5" wide x 15.5" tall. Motor side, once 6 blade removed I only have about 2.25" clearance. 😢

I was hoping you didn’t catch Rodney’s lack of motivation 😂 I’ll always be a 8.2 guy at heart but I’ll probably never build another because my 9.5 experiences are more positive, max effort in 1992 347 14:1 solid roller 619 Parker and 780 four corner holly with canfield 170 twisted wedge was .18 faster 1/8 than a 30 over 10:1 x cammed 358 with extrude honed ported same heads victor same carb 2 years later, the 347 lasted two years the 358 has 33k on it and was cruised by my buddy last week but now on sniper

All what you said on the "general obstacles of racing a van" is true. Besides weight, and the aerodynamics of a brick, it slurps in all the hot air in the dog house. That's why I was happy to get 10.9's in the 1/8 out of a stock 318 2bbl with the van tight torque converter. 10.9s is boring, but fun when you whittle down to that in a van in a stock rig! But I, like you, enjoy the challenge!

He lives!!!! I'm glad to see an update, and yeah, I've been a hermit working and staying busy down here. Slowly planning and collecting parts for the various builds around here. Sounds like a good plan for the van! Been keeping an eye out for a 351 myself for the "Procomp somp" build I've been planning. Marketplace has just been ridiculous here recently. I'm glad you found a gem! Keep at it buddy!!

If you are opening up the plenum why not remove as much of the dividers in the runners also? They are just as much of a restriction as the plenum is.

My biggest problem is the width. Space between the radiator and the engine (the pulleys) is only 3.33" in my car. This alone caused me grief and made my life miserable (LOL). Any idea how thick the assembly is? If it's too thick I hope I can cut it thinner without the fan reaching the radiator to damage it (which happened to me twice now). Great vid, BTW.

I put an 18" Lincoln fan in my 1993 Jimmy. It was like a different truck afterward. No more fan roar and a/c worked great in traffic.

looks are one thing, but have you checked the plane of it? chynese are HORRIBLE at knock offs, or anything automotive and generally everything, a bamboo hat sure.. so you had better check your gaps before you bolt it tight cuz the chances of that being warped and not fitting at all are HUGE! those are the things they do not care to address at all, they wont check for fitment or even care, long as you bought it is what counts cuz that money is laundered even if you return it, double money laundered, just dealt with them on too many levels to know, STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE! int eh sportbike world we will not touch any of their stuff, even the levers cause issues, materials are extremely inferior, threads are generally off, tolerances, so forth, something like an intake manifold? are you kidding? after 10 years of folks asking me whats wrong with their stator not working after replacing it with a new soon as I hear chynese I already know the gaps are off everywhere, sometimes they chew everything up, other times the gap is so large it barely has output, all the way to chewing up cases and other bits... they have no understanding of tolerances and there are no words for quality control in the chynese language, its not anything they ever encountered pre industrial revolution and they stayed out of the game until cliton sold all of our steel mills to them so forth, put em on the world exchange.. huge mistake.. just saw a rare mint $2800 akropovic evo ti titanium exhaust muffler destroyed by a motorcycle stand that was so flimsy it collapsed under the weight of the bike .. their wares will do damage to something, or cause you physical pain and or injury.. mark my words, you will learn one way or another . . . and you have zero recourse

I've been looking for an electric fan conversion for my Volvo for a long time. Never really found one I liked. I really like your video. I like it when people think outside the box, and start macgyvering to make things work . I found a fan assembly on RockAuto. I do not know the dimensions of the shroud assembly. Could you please give me the height and width measurements ? Thanks,

I've been running and Offy Dual Port since the 1980's the they really can hit hard in the low and middle range. They really are two intakes molded together and it's a great idea for torque. If you open that up, you'll ruin that intake and it will NOT flow like a regular one would. If you really want to do that, get any other aluminum intake and cut it in half. Have TWO carbs feeding the front and back. Two small progressive 2 barrels, one front, one rear, will give a lot better response. Even better would be two side draft SU types like the old Jag or Z car used. Great torque from those. You might as well toss that Offy if you're not going to use it as intended because it's not a high CFM intake and you have the split all the way thru the whole system. You can also make and adapter that moves the carb over a few inches. Just drill out a block of aluminum so that it feeds at an angle. If you wanted to get wild, make an adapter so that you have two carbs on that, one for the primary, one for the secondary. If you haven't carved up that Offy, save your money, it won't deliver what you want. Its only game is port speed and it does an amazing job at that. It will give a nice bump in the low in torque and you can really feel the secondaries kick in hard right above the middle because you have two different port speeds and it's the same things as being "on pipe" with a motorcycle, it's like a turbo boost.
