You are right to be upset! in primary colors (in subtractive synthesis) there should only exist one and only magenta (like cyan and primary yellow)! I have a magenta tube which is a purple pink and another magenta which is an orange red!!! Thank you for revealing this dysfunction!

I can't say much about rock hard towers, but you paint pretty well.
Did you have any issues with streaking’s because of unevenness in the particles. And after times did the carbon particles separate from the water base?
Try artist's loft acid free cold press all paper watercolor paper. Cheap behaves almost hot press...Absorbs water slower but beautifully moves, absorbs, blossums, granulates and lifts. It my favorite!
