    Nice review and description of what you carry in the Alpaka Vertex pouch. Alpaka does make some lovely products and I have a bunch of their pouches, HUB accessories, and the Elements Backpack. That backpack has some of the most comfortable straps ever. That small plastic D ring at the bottom on the exterior is for attaching a stabilizer strap when this is carried as a sling. I bought that stabilizer strap too for another sling that I have. For this Vertex Pouch, Alpaka were heavily inspired by the Evergoods CAP2, though they did improve it in some aspects. So, a job well done.

    This video introduced me to Case knives and traditional knives in general. Now I own three: one Sodbuster Jr (brown bone 42653) and two single blade barehead trappers (the DLT Trading exclusive models with the clip point blades, one in carbon steel and one in stainless).

    I appreciate a pastor discussing this technique because most people assume that pastors have no troubles maintaining focus or clarity of vision. But they have feet of clay (or is it brains of clay?) just like the rest of us. “Morning pages” is a simple concept: write 2-3 pages of whatever thoughts, ideas, or concerns come to mind at the start of your day. That’s it. Chad describes the technique in the video and discusses its benefits but you may have missed it because it’s such a simple-yet powerful-tool to give you focus because it gets out most of the distracting monkeys jumping around your mind. If you want to learn more, there’s a chapter in The Artists’ Mind by Julia Cameron.

    What is the life expectancy of these lights? 5,10 years?

  • @LandmanEDC
    @LandmanEDC4 күн бұрын

    Oh I’d say they’ll last longer than that if you take care of them. Hard use? 5-6 years. But light use could get you 15 years I bet. These are quality, thick aluminum, and the only thing that would burn out would be the LEDs in the lamp assembly.

I disagree on the “ripoff design” as well. I think this is fairly unique especially given that it can keep its shape. That being said, you can only do so much with a sling bag/fanny pack.

Instead of various thoughts of many varieties bouncing around in my head all day, I just scribble them down, close the notebook then tackle the day with a clearer mind. Great video! Do you take your journal out of the cover when you write? I have a leather cover and find that the pockets in the cover are bothersome when writing with the book inside the cover, especially the pages near the front and back of the notebook. I really like the looks of the Lochby, but wonder whether the zipper would also be in the way. I am inches away from pressing the buy button on the Lochby. 😎 Lord bless, brother. -Randy

    I rather enjoyed hearing that Marcus O'Brien's video on journaling was one of the influences that got you back into journaling. I watched O'Brien's video quite some time back and a week later I was reading Julia Cameron's book, "The Artist's Way" and writing my morning journal pages in one of Colonel Littleton's larger format journals that my very thoughtful wife had gifted me with (I think it was) a year or so earlier and that I had failed to put to good use. I journaled throughout most of my military and Civil Service careers and oddly, as time passed in my retirement years, I guess I abandoned the practice. It is good to be back at something that seems to provide added direction and focus to my days. Thank you so much for another great video!

    What I would carry in this pouch Magic the Gathering decks, if you play I would have 2 Commander decks and some dice in my Small fry pouch Data crew what-a-slider filled with tech like chargers, battery bank, adapters A carabiner attached to hold my blender bottle I think the price of the bag is very much out of my budget and I would very much love to pick this up because I feel that it would hold my items safely and securely. Seeing such a high price just forces me to look for another alternative bag even though I am a big Data Crew user. Just a little sad since this company started my deep appreciation for EDC. I hope data crew releases something a little bit more on the budget side as another option, I know I would be more than happy to support that.

I have a couple of their pouches and the stitching and everything is extremely well done. I would carry my normal EDC items in it. Knife, flashlight, pen and also my new digital compact camera. Trying to take more photos everyday and get off my phone. I can afford a bag like this financially. If money is not a problem, sure - buy whatever you want. Most of the new brands and bags nowadays are way overpriced, tools and knives too. Personally I find more joy watching and finding something new that has good quality and reasonable price. I just bought Tomtoc 3.5L aviator sling to use on my recent trip to Japan. It’s about $50 and it has almost the same functionality, and looks great in my opinion. Speaking of Japan, they have tons of great looking bags that are made in Japan, they are all priced crazy high just like this sling too. I can afford them but I choose not to, way too expensive for what they are.
