Like all of Gene's body of work, this is a sleeper and an underrated gem. He was an artistic success when the definition of commercial success didn't match.
This song obviously “influenced” Neil Diamonds “Girl, You’ll Be A woman Soon” to be nice about it
Duckie!😢
Very good.
Love the jingly jangly sound of the Rickenbackers. I owned one in my early days. I had the thin bodied 360. Totally different from the John Lennon's 325 by the way.
This song is as meaningful now as it was years ago.
❤
Great performance!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm 73, watching McGuinn creeping down Sunset Blvd in his GTO when I was 15.
I have been looking for a clip of Gene playing a Mustang Fender with the rest of the band, and here it is, after looking for years.
I recently bought two copies of the New Christy Minstrel debut album. One has the group in silhouettes on the front cover and the other has photos (including Larry Ramos). Same album, tunes and even liner notes. It mentioned Jerry Yester (Lovin' Spoonful member and a Facebook Friend) so I emailed him about it. The album was only suppose to be a recording with no live band to tour behind it. Turns out Columbia like the group and booked them onto TV. So Randy Sparks had to call Jerry up where he was doing a trio gig in another state. Asked him to come back, but Jerry had signed a contract and couldn't break it in time to do the show. Randy put together an entirely new group with Larry Ramos included. There is no picture of Jerry on any of the versions of this cover and his name eventually disappeared from the liner notes on the later editions.
Any song u write after sister havana better he great...and they werent
Thank You for this Amazing Post!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KEEP'EN COMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was another Saturday night broadcast of Ninth Street West on LA's Channel 9 KHJ, one of many shows I never missed. I guess McGuinn and Crosby are switching roles for laughs. Gene wrote this astonishing song that even now gives me chills, and "the fizz." I could only wish he could have received more recognition for his extraordinary songwriting, and also his rather unique singing voice. I still think he deserved to have the lead vocal role because of these two attributes, but competing egos put the kibosh on that.
Interviewed Joe Frazier was he was an Episcopalian minister here in Wilmington, DE, just before he left for San Francisco. Very nice guy and had some great stories about Jim McGuinn, John Denver and others.
Jimbo, Roger was still a number of years away.
These morons sure rode the Dylan covers to the bank..,,,,other than that]]]-what did they do?
Also if ya dig this song by The Byrds on youtube 😀 you may enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and also read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on KZread. 😀

Bob Dylan song.
…Filmed in the first ever cabellas in Fort Wayne, IN
McGinn looks freakin’ demented in his closeups. Not sure what to say about Cosby, but he looks kinda crazy too! Gene ????? Adorable !!!!! 😈😈😈

Plágio puro dos beatles pegaram carona nas canções do George if i needed someone rickenbaker de 12 cordas - tadinhos
It's wierd to see Gene Clark playing the guitar rather than the tambourine.
Love that song...
I’m 66 and it’s my go to song
One could argue that Gene Clark had the strongest voice, and I would argue strenuously that he should have been the lead singer on most of their songs. David Crosby's voice was also legendary, but at this point in the band, his role was a high-tenor harmony. McGuinn, for whatever reason, tended to dominate the lead singing, when Clark's obvious talent for singing should have been front and center.
That guy talking didn't He abuse alot of people ?went to the grave with out facing any justices.then i also read some where when he died his courps was exhaumed and buried somewhere secrietly beacuse in case of reprizels .his courps might be discirated. Any i seen a couple Interviews be done He got on like he couldent be touched. Apperently there was alot of people afraid Of him.where does one get that kind of power?!😮😮
Love the byrds.wish the they were still around.😢
I wonder how true the fear of flying was? (Beach Boys Brian Wilson) Or was it an Excuse get out of touring! Because Gene's his Publishing💲was Making more Then the Band/Byrds
Magical!!!
Rubbish song !!!!!
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉.
The producers didn’t care if they were singing the ‘Battle Hymn of the Republic’ the dancers were were going to shake their booty like all hell was breaking out. Great for young boys of all ages, but also real dumb, and a sour note to a great band.
Got to see Rodger McGuinn play the banjo at the rosebud... Pittsburgh PA 1991..?
And hearing them briefly doing Jackie De Shannon’s Don’t doubt yourself babe !
McGuinn singing Dylan. This is Byrds classic. Great song!
Love this song, been listening to this for years, thanks 😎🏹
This song resonated with me from first listen. It’s a great composition, like no one else’s music at the time.
I think it’s safe to say the staging here would be badly misunderstood. Frankly, it really is ridiculous.
I am absolutely thrilled to hear their live voices on this extraordinary song. that is contemporary history.
Far out
a class above -- anything out there today Hun
Spark it up ‼️👍⬆️💪⬆️👍👍👂👂👂💜🩸🪖⬆️ great version favorite song🎸🪕🎻🥁🎧🎤🎷🎺🎹🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
Itoo was in college then. I was playing a gig with a folk trio one night at a Catholic girls college. One of the songs we did was Ain't no more cane on the Brazos, covering the Chad Mitchell Trios version. Later in the evening, the girls voted us off in favor of a new Beatles lp. Oh well. Those guys were pretty good.
What the hell ever happen to those Beatles cats ?
Too bad the video/ Audio is distorted? Must be the brief time Gene Clark came back to the Byrds.
12 string Rickenbacker clanging throughout
The original Byrds are the only Byrds
Chris Hillman's driving bass line really propels this classic song.
