    If a 50" deck holds the hubs straight its good... I have 2 318s both with the 50" deck one I took ⅛" plate and made a new area to bolt the hubs to because it would Ben's anytime I hit anything that thing has like 6000 hour on it , side note the hour meter had been gone since I was a little kid but ik it has a ton of hours on it because it's been in the family since new and ik how much it mowed every time

    I'm curious. Why do you have so much grass? I am getting a 420 up to speed that didn't run. It didn't have any cracks or leaks and the steering is perfect. I replaced fuel lines & suction tubes, cleaned fuel tank, added electric fuel pump, changed Hyd oil & filter, replaced hydro damper, took play out of hydro linkages (hydro still jumpy), engine needs choking so I'll probably reseal the intake manifold and clean the carburetor. Battery light stays on. 2420 hours with 85-90 compression so I'll probably rebuild the engine someday. This was the only 420 I found for sale in my area so that is why I bought such a high hour unit. BTW somebody painted it flat black so I'll have to redo the paint when all is finished.

    Why would you title the video a revival when you didnt take the time to fix it?

  • @66Oliver
    @66Oliver2 ай бұрын

    Because it technically WAS a revival, since it didn’t run at all, in however many years of the last two owner’s having it. A revival doesn’t mean that I have to fix it - it just means that it came back from the dead. I do have ones where I start them up and then fix them, but this one was far too gone for it to be worth it.

    A few years ago I bought a 420 and the guy said it was OK but the 24hp honda that was in it had carb issues so I went ahead after getting it home and tried starting it but nit much luck so I bought the carb and tried it and it ran but still issues so I pulled it and got a briggs 23hp and all is well. I replaced all fuel lines totally with tank filters then got a cab and wired that for led lights. I got a smow blade since the one he gave me didn't fit, later I bought a easy buck loader and it's great. I added a rear weight and new tractor tires and rims new. On the old 24hp honda I'm leaning it's in the area of a governor but I took a completion check and one sides low. I priced rear gearbox for a tiller and a used ones are crazy cost so I bought a gas unit to pull behind with a lx176 or lt160. Please supply the electric fuel pump you used in case my briggs goes out. It 8nly has around under 100 hours or less. Your posts are great helps a old fart learn more

    I've had a '68 1850 gasser for about ten years now, really like it other than no float on the hydraulics. It had the head redone and sleeves and pistons at around 3600 hours or so I was told, the head has been hot tanked so probably... Great tractor, love the hefty nature of the beast, it's my snow plowing rig and it handles a 9' Bison xhd 270 blade like a champ. Fires right up at -9°F too!

    Try tuning the carb, you might be too rich or lean and it isn’t getting enough power. That or check rolling resistance of power train, maybe something is partially seized in the transmission or drivetrain.
