    It was the Shfiguarts Obi Wan series Darth Vader. it sold out in it's first run, only released in Japan. they're supposed to be rereleasing it under the New Hope tag sometime in the future. I'd check hobbylinkjapan or hobbygenki to see if they have it for preorder or if theres any stock available

    Some beautiful work here, it is very cool to have an actual head underneath the helmet where normally with 3D prints it is just a full one piece, sculpted head, and helmet.

    thanks man. yeah, I wanted to make something that kept the toyetic nature of their helmets. having one solid print of it all combined might help improve proportions, but once you've got used to the black series proportions with the way they put helmets on, it starts to feel weird if it isn't that size. thanks for checking the video!

    Nobody else seems to have mentioned it, so I'll put out there that the ship is a T-16 Skyhopper, which is basically a big eater egg as it's the ship Luke talks about flying in ANH and it's the one he's playing with when the droids are getting an oil bath.

    I picked up the regular Shredder, and the "battle ready" Turtles from the IDW run, and the Krang in the Walker. They have generally been improving their quality over the lines they make. Things are still a bit ugly here and there - the elbows and knee joints need major work; their choices for when to use harder vs softer plastic could use some work - and maybe even a bit more of a harder plastic for their softer parts as I find they flex a bit TOO much. Then some parts I don't understand - like the straight cut for the bicep on Shredder, and his upper torso - it's solid plastic and barely moves on the swivel. A lot of that could be redesigned to look and function better. If they keep improving like they have been, then they will really be making some great action figures. For now, I think they are okay - not the best, but surely not the worst.

  • @pyroflyx
    @pyroflyx4 ай бұрын

    Also - the whole IDW TMNT run has been really good - I read it all on Comixology Unlimited which has them all for "free"

    haha - I keep having comments as I watch the video - the hip joint on my first Shredder snapped off instantly - so I had to get a 2nd and heat then use some silicone oil.

    TLS have improved massively. They still have work to do but I’m happy I got the Raph today.. he’s so much better than the last LTS figure I got. I’ll get the rest of the Turtles and perhaps this shredder as well if the Scale is right. IDW was great for 100 issues. So if they keep improving and make figures based on those 100 issues.. I’ll support them. They just have to keep improving. They’re getting there. I’d still get these guys over ML tho.. which I dropped over a year ago. Man that buzz is actually quite cool. The bicep swivel does seem annoying but I totally understand why you love it. Very special and iconic character in all us 90s babies. Also sorry to hear your dog got ahold of it. However I love you outlook of it, as being able to remember him and help honor the memory of your dog. Me and my wife enjoyed the movie. I thought it was good and somewhat interesting. I had just lost my grandmother a few days before we watched it and as you know the beginning is very intent on gettin the point of age and time across. What you said at the beginning about “addiction or some people call it a hobby” lol. I actually made that same joke in a black series forum on FB to someone that posted and said they just started collecting. For all, to all. Welcome to the addiction….I mean hobby. 😂😂 I enjoyed hearing this man. Awesome video.

  • @boredfigures
    @boredfigures6 ай бұрын

    thank you brother 🙏🏼 definitely a fun movie with some strong themes. not for some, but it's fun enough for me. seems like the movie found you at the right time after your grandmother's passing. and it truly is addicting 😂 I'm certainly not naive to that. it holds a weight over me at times, but I believe balance can be found in it, and all the fulfilment it gives outways the bad. some people in denial about it become combative when you say it, but it's not said as an insult, it's being candid about the reality. if ya can't joke about it, will you ever find balance? ya feel

  • @TheStonedMandalorian
    @TheStonedMandalorian6 ай бұрын

    @@boredfigures 100% man. Everyone has that “addiction” or passion for something. People NEED something like that to put their time and energy into. Otherwise people who don’t have any “hobbies” don’t really know what to do with their free time or feel like they have no drive of ambition when it comes to anything. I don’t care if your passionate about buying and selling cars, pocket knives, spoons, watches, comics, whatever. We all need something to give our attention to and give us an escape. Well for some people it may not be an “escape” per say, but it is something they enjoy to do in their free time however. Like you said if you can’t joke about it, you won’t find that balance. It’s not that serious. We all do this to enjoy it no matter the reasons behind it.

    Hell yea!! Nice to see my boys Malgus and the “kenobi” Vader in your top 10 bro! Malgus was second in my top ten for Black Series of 2023. Just an imposing and amazing sculpt. For him being a bigger guy the articulation is AMAZING. And personally I find it to be the best softgoods in the entire line (imo). The way they glued/engineered the hood to sit on him hooded AND sun-hooded just looks great and has a natural flow with the cape. That kenobi vader is also just a great representation of him for newer collectors or people who didn’t have a chance to get the ESB or ANH Vaders. That is a figure in the line that should be regularly available year round. Such a iconic character and design. Not gonna lie those DBZ figs were pretty dope and the Master Weng was insanely dope! I have no idea what it’s from…but I still want it for some reason lol. (Sorry for blowing up your videos commenting and shit lol) Il try not to comment on EVERY one I watch lol.

  • @boredfigures
    @boredfigures6 ай бұрын

    man don't worry bout it! comment away haha, doesn't bother me one bit, and you know the KZread algorithm loves the engagement 😂 but I agree, Malgus was just so good in every regard, when I started collecting I didn't think they would ever do him, let alone so soon and so perfectly. Ahsoka probably would've been on my list had my preorder come in, but I'm still waitin on BBTS to get her in.. and man, that Shfiguarts Vader is unreal. I was rocking the Black Series ESB Vader before, and it's great, but SHF blew it out of the water. shame it is so hard go get now and the resell prices are so high. I managed to get mine for under it's retail on a last minute sale on HobbyLinkJapan, $68 shipped. a bit pricey compared to a Black Series, but for my boy Vader, a perfect figure at that price was well worth it. And Master Weng is an original character from Maestro Union, I'm just a sucker for Eastern mythology and anything in that vein. highly recommend checking Maestro Union out, they're bout to go hard in 2024 with their own original characters, and tho they're pricier than a Black Series, they are packed with accessories and big ass chonky figures. Thanks for checking it out! try not to fall into the figure rabbithole like I did 😂 but I can't promise my videos might not make you haha

    I love to see the messy process, very essence of Larson. TBS best line of the year, pretty unique choice, but I agree they're really honing in articulation. People dog on no accessories but overlook excellent wardrobe and (usually) really good likeness. What let me down was rushed Ahsoka waves, mid RoTJ 40th, and whatever is causing their release dates to stretch to 3-5 month windows. Love the channel, looking forward to more in 2024!

    absolutely agree, the end of the year waves began to drop the ball a bit, but there were still some gems sprinkled in here and there. I think I'm partial to the price point too haha, though more accessories and extra hands it always welcomed. Not everyone's choice, but I think more than anything the line just surprised me, as my previous black series experiences were pretty lack luster. lots of great figures this year from all companies, but as far as a line with many great figures in the year, it felt right for me 😊 thanks for checking out my channel! love your vids and the longform appreciation of the artform that is figures!
