Fish with the Gheenoe Guy. Follow me in my adventures of fishing, hunting and the occasional catch and cook. I live in Saint Augustine, Florida and fish in mostly North East Florida.

About the Gheenoe Guy.
My name is Tony Clark and I am the Gheenoe Guy. My story as the Gheenoe Guy began the beginning of 2020 when I bought a used Gheenoe off of craiglist. If you don’t know what a Gheenoe is the think of a Canoe shaped boat able to get shallow but still has stability. The Gheenoe has allowed me to get shallow in the creeks and catch all kinds of fish. My videos cover all kinds of fishing, hunting, Gheenoe modifications, and even some catch and cook. Remember I’m not a professional heck I’m not even that good maybe sometimes I just get lucky follow me on my adventures and you decide.

Snook in St Augustine? Proof of warm winters. They prefer warmer waters and rarely seen north of Daytona/ New Smyrna. The first really cold winter comes and we will see many floaters.

Catching snook is not very common. You can catch some when the water warms up, but catching a slot snook here is rare.👍

It was good to run into you and thanks for the shout out. That creek can be quite challenging. It gets extremently shallow in areas. You can be in 6 ft of water and think your good and veer a few feet in either direction and be in 6 inches, or less. I have seen boats get completely stuck and have to wait out the tide and somtimes even kayakers have to get out and drag their kayak out of a low spot. Plus there are a lot of hidden oyster beds. I talked to a guy that told me how he almost sank his boat after running over an oyster mound and barely got back to the ramp. And it is definately not the easiest place to find and catch fish. In the late summer and early fall months there is always a chance at a slot snook but unfortunately our average annual water temp is too low to support a large snook poplation. All the good east coast snook fishing is better south of Daytona down to the Keys.

Would love to see more artificial bait videos. Switching from bait to artificial can be tough at transitioning, but I'd recommend a "Dirtyboxer" curly tail from Fishbites with a 1/4 ounce jighead because there's no wrong way to retrieve it, and it has a great sent.

It barely fit in the cooler, eh? I'm surprised T-Bone didn't have to sit on top of the cooler like a piece of luggage when he packs to go on a trip... Yea, we all know he's the one who overpacks... hahaha

@@gheenoeguy1510 cool ty! We will try those next for sure. Just went live shrimp today & it was good. Caught 2 keeper reds, blk drums, 1 pomp, spotted trout (my first), sheephead, ton of mangrove like usual....a few others. It was prob the most varied fish we've gotten in a day for us there. Went to the docks to the right of ramp first then to mouth of creek. Ty for the tip!!
