  I miss padstow I want to be their lovely memories I was the only outsider that dressed the drum and went in to the long room I loved it I lived in hawkers cove for a few years and every may day I feel so homesick,love padstow so much. Enjoy the day . Gina on the hill in CORNWALL .

  Thanks for putting this on - glad I found it! Kept hearing bits of this song over the years but this is the longest one yet, and with good photography too! I just love the whole atmosphere. There's something about that song.......

  Respect! Paying homage to those that went before, built strong foundations, family, life. The people of Padstow, my people lived hard lives, deprivation, but knew what it means to love family, friends. A tight knit community bound by faith, love and tradition. I'm proud to count myself as one of them. However, on May 1st, it is OUR day, to celebrate the end of Winter, to welcome Summer. Out with old and in the new. New crops, new humans. An ancient fertility rite. Out with the old and in with the new, at the same time, paying respect to the elders and those that came before. Unite and Unite. It's a shame that other communities do not embrace this. The world would indeed be a better place if respect could be paid to those that have come before . A fertility rite.

  This is what tradition is all about... Absolutely bloomin fantastic.... Is this where the people go into people's houses and dance? I know it's somewhere in Cornwall.... But unfortunately I can't remember... Also, what's the story relating to the Padstow Mayday Dance through the streets?

  So Padstow May Day is located in the Cornish town called Padstow, two parties, the Blue Oss and the Old Oss parade through the streets visiting a few houses for special occasions as we like to visit the older folks who can’t come around and celebrate. And the history of this May celebration has a few stories, some believe it’s 1000 years old some say 2000, 3000 even 4000 years old. Others say it’s when the French went to invade the harbour and were scared off by people dressed as horses.
