  This music feels disturbing but still peaceful. Something that looks nice on the surface but has horrible darkness underneath, in this case whatever's happening to the native people. Like a smile that's just a bit too wide, or something that's the political equivalent of the uncanny valley.

  @@sifangwuhai I suppose what's the face and what's the undertone could be seen the other way around. As in, they're not committing atrocities anymore because they have no practical reason to. And while technocratic governance can remedy many of the issues, those scars are still there and not being wiped away. Imagine wandering around an abandoned city after a volcanic eruption, fully protected and not in immediate danger, but the atmosphere still being unsettling.
