Your tools, and the furniture you create with them, deserve the very best in long-lasting protection. Your cast iron tools need to be protected from rust - and you shouldn't have to spend hours every month waxing them. Your furniture should be protected against water, oils, chemicals, scratches, and damage from UV radiation - and you shouldn't need to constantly refinish them to protect them for generations.
Carbon Method brings you the latest in nanotechnology: layers of protection just molecules thick, but harder than diamond. Graphene-enhanced rust protection for your cast iron tools. Ceramic coatings for your wood furniture. Welcome to the future of nanoprotection!

You realize Purple Heart gets more purple over time, it’s pretty brown when it first cut. So let it set out for awhile first, it’s not the UV rays that affect it it’s actually the oxidation or the air that affects it the most. So let freshly cut purpleheart set in a good air flow area for awhile when it gets to the level of purple you want then you would top coat it
💯💯
Check out Lightning Lock on our website! carbonmethod.com/lightning-lock-flex-hose-fittings/
Cute marketing video but makers would rather see actual application videos. This type of marketing is great for a posters at a trade show.
This was an Instagram Reel we reposted here 😎 We'll try to create some more coating content soon!
Brilliant! Looks like an awesome solution!
Thanks James! We've been working hard on these 😁
I'm trying to decide which I should purchase as the connector to a 2" dust port for a sliding compound miter saw. Should I get the 2" adapter or the "pants" ? Thank you!
Good question! It depends on the source and this specific situation, we'd be happy to chat further to make sure you get the right solution for your setup. We wouldn't usually suggest going from 4" hose down to miter saw size, but typically a 2.5 inch reduced to the miter saw port size would be ideal in this situation. At your convenience, contact customer service (844-432-2266 or [email protected]).
Cheers Dan. I noticed the new applicator in the box, and was wondering if you had a video about it. Sure enough you do. All the best from Australia.
Great to hear you found the video 😎 Hopefully you found the new applicator to be an improvement over the old version!
Hey Darren, where did you get it from? I can't find a distributor in Oz. $160USD inc shipping on their website. (for the 3-4 kit)
@@Grumpyoldtwit I ordered it from site and paid the shipping. Yes I wish they had an Australian distributor for this reason. But I haven’t found anything that works as well as the carbon coat and the last application lasted me two years.
@@DarrensWorkshop $160USD = $237AUD. Does the carbon glide work well on non iron beds, like my Dewalt DW735 planer?
@@Grumpyoldtwit Best to ask Dan that one. Ive used it on my planer, but that is iron. Steel is mostly iron so my guess is yes.
Cool Dan. I like those. I think I will have a use for them in the new shop I am building.
Great! Share some photos or videos with us when you build the new shop!
@@carbonmethodco will do
Lightning Lock fittings are now available on our website, at: carbonmethod.com/lightning-lock-flex-hose-fittings/ 😎
so, additive means 3d printed? No shade here, just trying to understand.
Absolutely! But we don't want to give the wrong impression: these aren’t printed using filament printers. We're using production-quality stereolithography machines, with our own in-house designed resin. We are very excited to see where we can take this technology: we are learning more every day. It's completely changing how we think about product design as a concept: Lightning Lock's unique design simply couldn't be produced through conventional manufacturing!
Could this be used for 2.5 inch shop vac hose?
Great question, yes it can!
Will y'all make 2.5 and 4 inch solid caps? That'd be the only thing keeping me from switching to this system.
We'll be thinking about that one, stay tuned! 😎
That’s best advancement on magnetic dust collection fittings to date. And the best part is they’re not from the red brand 😅
🤣 We've been working on these for quite a while!
All that for a sponge and a cloth
We think it's cool. 😎
Another great product Dan! Look forward to putting them to good use.
Thank you for the support, Mark!
Congratulations, it looks great. How much weight do the connections hold? I ask based on having issues with magnetic attachments not able to hold the weight when the 4” hoses hang high from the floor, or being easy to decouple accidentally.
Thanks! Due to the countless ways that hoses and connections can be arranged (vertically/horizontally/suspended/etc) it is difficult to fully answer this question without knowing your exact setup. Our 4" Max Fitting has twice the holding power as the 4" Standard, and is sometimes recommended when supporting the weight of a flex hose in suspension. Feel free to reach out to our customer service and we'd be happy to help discuss the best fittings for your shop!
Looking great, Dan!
Thank you Marc! 😎
Looks pretty nice I hope I can try them out soon
We think you'll like them 😁
This is a sweet design! Can't wait to see this line-up keep expanding...
Thanks! Stayed tuned for more 😎
Did I miss something? How are these attached to the machine ports, or is that magnetic also? I love the product but need to know that first. Also, is there a "cap" available for the dual port for when you're only using one opening? Interested in your thoughts!
Currently, you could use a small piece of flex hose or a rubber fitting to attach to the tool - there is an example of this at 1:46 in the video. Next, install a Lightning Lock fitting to your lead hose to move in between. We are planning further integrations with rubber mounts, hard mounts, and tool specific solutions that will integrate with these hose fittings. Stay tuned for more 😎
Is there a plan or product to be able to adapt these fittings to existing flex hoses, or is your only option to press fit your existing hose fittings into a lightning lock fitting and then add a lightning lock fitting to your tool? I’m in a small garage shop with just a dust extractor with a 2.5” inlet port, but if I have to add this additional fitting on the end of my hoses, I’m wondering what the benefit of this is compared to just inserting my hoses into my tools. Is there maybe a roadmap to build hoses with lightning lock fittings installed on each end? Love the concept and I see the vision, but it seems like there are some pieces missing in the system to make integration truly seamless.
This is our initial launch of Lightning Lock fittings. Right now, you could use a short piece of hose on the tool with a Lightning Lock fitting attached. Next, attach an additional Lightning Lock fitting to your moveable hose. We have extensive plans moving forward, including: rubber rigid mounts, tool specific solutions, and hard pipe integrations. Let us know if you have any additional questions!
Do you sell the3d print file for these?
We do not sell print files for Lightning Lock fittings at this time, however, the fittings are now available and shipping from our website!
Good job stealing Functional Print Friday's idea. He came up with this way before you.
I just installed my Magports😡😫
😢🤣
Additive manufactured 🤔 so sls printed nylon ?
I’m guessing SLS printed carbon
For our Lighting Lock fittings, we engineered a proprietary material to meet our internal specifications.
@@carbonmethodco that's dope great job guys
Pride month ruins everything.
So does your stupid comment
They’re nonbinary dust collection fittings!
Just say universal. Been in manufacturing most of my life and never heard genderless till now.
Nice video
Thank you!
This is another “Why the hell didn’t I think of this?” product… 😩🤣 Wow! That is crazy cool and easy to use. Great invention!
🤣 Thank you! Our team has been working hard on this one!
How cleanable is the rotating section? I do metal and wood in the same space and steel dust is really good at finding magnets.
Great question - the magnets are isolated from the rotation, so any loose metal shavings are easy to see and remove 👍

You know it’s a good feature when Dan is visibly excited about the spinning feature. Looks great!

Can video vm😮😮Not CNN
I'm coming coming vc
Can’t wait to pick some up and put these to use in the shop! Curious though, are there plans to produce any, “tool specific” versions…say for a DW735 planer, etc? 🤔 Very innovative product Dan, looking forward to seeing what else this lineup will have to offer! 👏🏻👏🏻
Good question... additional versions such one for the DW735 are on the list!
Impressive to say the least. Awesome innovations
That means a lot! Thank you Chris!
Thanks Chris! 😎
does this prevents scratch?
While it won't fill previous scratches, it will add a strong layer of protection against future wear!
Can I use WD-40 to clean the surface and rust before applying Carbon Coat?
You can, though, we recommend using our Reconditioning Oil, which was specifically formulated to help with the rust removal process. Check out our video "THE NEW WAY to remove rust from cast iron tools!" for more information. kzread.info/dash/bejne/ipuNzamKY5mWfbw.html

been looking for a unique wood for a guitar project and this is definitely it
Share some photos with us when you're done!
Dan, this is very impressive and I look forward to trying it out. Scott
Thanks, Scott!
Can we use this on wood plank flooring? Is it as durable as a clear epoxy sealer? Or would you first do something like Rubios, then clear epoxy, then the ceramic coating? Aiming for the most durable flooring (kids)
Plank flooring is a really interesting situation! For best results, you should contact our Customer Service team on our website, so we can chat back and forth with you about what's going to get you the best application for this scenario.
Quick question? This coat helps with the heat resistance?? Thanks
Good question! Could you elaborate on what type of heat your surface will encounter? Our Ceramic Nanofinish will prevent moisture rings on furniture surfaces from heat sources such as hot cups of coffee or tea. Let us know more about how you were looking to use the product and we might have some additional testing results that would be applicable to your scenario 👍
Can more layers be added after it sets over night.
Absolutely! In theory, you could add more layers days - or even weeks - later, depending on the condition of the surface. But overnight definitely isn't a problem - provided you make sure to remove any shop dust that's accumulated, of course!
I have scratches on my walnut wood table. Will using this cover the scratches or do I need to have it sanded before I go with this coating
For best results, any scratches should be repaired before applying Ceramic Nanofinish.
Technically, you do not need to coat the black extension wing as it is coated metal. - not cast iron. To me, a waste of expensive product.
Yeah, while it's not necessary for rust protection - but we recommend coating extensions to provide the same evenly slick surface across the whole top to provide the best and safest experience. The friction difference is that noticeable!
