One more comment: the land you see straight our your hotel room is Indian Island, which is a munitions storage. All aircraft carriers, ships and nuclear subs stop before entering the Puget Sound and everything from food to bombs comes off there. They stop when departing for reloading.

The ferry goes to Whidbey Island. Reservations are needed, unless you want to wait for hours.

The Hood Canal Bridge is about to get a round a bout on the west end, and another at the turn off to Port Townsend on highway 19. Back ups will increase.

Pulp & paper mill smells of sulphur. Your TP may come from there. That hotel is where the suicide took place in An Officer & a Gentleman. You came at the wrong time of year.

Polsbo has changed so very much over 50 years. I remember the Olympic Inn as a tenement. The 5 and Dime ,and Mary Ann's fabric store The old dock master. Ludafisk and Lefsa . It was a wonderful town. I truly miss it.

I lived in Port Townsend for 7 years...Port Townsend has two streets that run thru town...the one your on takes you thru town then there is a up town street ... If you pay attention to the Tides Hotel, the single story rooms...one of the room is the exact room that Officer and a Gentleman was filmed as well as the Military housing. The water area is THE PUDGET SOUND...NOT QUITE THE OCEAN, from the Tides you look across to Whidby Island where the Naval Base is. In Port Townsend there is STILL A LAW ON THE BOOKS that is NO SPITTING ON THE SIDE WALKS and has been a LAW sense the 18 hundreds, they made the LAW because it was a sea Port and women in their BIG LONG DRESSES that would drag on the sidewalks SO THE LAW WAS MADE so their dresses would not drag thru spit ;) Seriously!!! If you went to the end of town where there is boat docks across that water way you are looking over to Canada. But Port Townsend had a Few Movies made there and the Fairies...one was Officer and a Gentleman, the movie with J-LO ENOUGH, Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman made the movie where her husband faked his death and went to New Orleans. Yep all partially filmed on Port Townsend

that "island" you saw near the west end of the Hood Canal Bridge is not really an island, it's reachable on foot at low tide. It's called Hood Head.

Love watching you two, it really cheers me up seeing you both happy, well and showing us your perspective in and around the wonderful place you live. I'm an ex-diver, due to health, and really appreciate how you care so much about wildlife above and below the water. Take care, stay happy and well, from the UK.

Very pretty place to visit. There are lots of interesting places along the Oregon Coast. I loved Tillamook and we managed to go during their fair. There is a very fun race that involves grabbing a pig and jumping in an early race car and then driving around a track while holding the pig. It was so fun to watch. I also enjoyed Battle Rock down by Port Orford. It was the location of a battle between a local Native tribe and 7 men that had been sent to try to settle a trading Post. It didn’t go well and the surviving men walked back to Portland. I found out my great great grandfather was one of those men. It’s an interesting history. That coast is so pretty to drive and see the ocean!

PT is famous for perverts at the YMCA and their annual witchcraft rally. This town is loaded with occult mysticism. And the smell of the pulp mill.
