I've been a fan of John for Decades. But this live is a disgrace. There is no room for emotion, and for the bass on this track, which is a shame . The bass on Glassgow Kiss is a central element, no matter the room needed for John. The recording is bad. It's all in the highs. I mean, I expected so much more from a John live ... This is just money laundering compared to what he is capable of...

he use downward pick slanting, it means there are times in 1 hit of pick 2 strings hitted one should be dead string and another one is the accent note

I`m much hesitant when it comes to comparing Petrucci with Eddie van Halen. I`m sure one day it`s Petrucci, the other day is EVH. I feel honoured to live with these legends in the same era

My friend Ben Swainson from Scotland told me that a "Glasgow Kiss" is when you are subjected to having your cheeks cut from ear to ear, making it painful to smile or do anything like eating or talking. Think of how it would never fully heal and how painful every grimace or smile would be excruciating pain. Petrucci jams and when one thinks of this, one wonders and extrapolates about the intent and effect of the composition and the performance. It is at once surprising and then an experience in remarkable endurance.

This is surely one of the best high energy electric guitar instrumentals. I live in Glasgow’s East end, on the edge of, apparently, the most deprived area in Europe. You wouldn’t know it though, as Glasgow is no more or less violent than any other city … if we leave out Canada perhaps. 😀 There is a section in this tune akin to Scottish highland fiddle music. Interestingly (only to me poss’) a Gaelic Language Centre is being built here, a blown kiss 💋 .. from the famous Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom, which Dream Theatre have no doubt played. I haven’t heard Gaelic spoken here in 30 years. Regardless, perhaps Mr Petrucci could record an acoustic version for the opening ceremony next year. Gaelic kiss? 🎻 💋 🎻 Least he could do to atone spreading, our outdated reputation, as far afield as Tokyo. 😉
