SEISHO is a well established group of calligraphers led by Master Baikei and Grand-master Kyoshuu. On this channel we offer you a glimpse of the beautiful world of oriental calligraphy with instructional videos, live performance videos, and more.
Baikei is on a mission to share this jewel of Japanese culture with people around the globe, by both touring and producing fresh video content in an exciting style. He presides over his very own 1500 member strong Seisho Calligraphy Association while finding time to teach, perform, and work on various other projects.
"With emptiness and form, all things are created,
Through words and images, great ideas are born,
With ink, brush, and paper lives can be transformed."

that was pieced together from parts;)
Is there somewhere to get these worksheets? I want to get into Japanese Calligraphy but I'm brand new. Any tips would be most appreciated
thanks for your interest^^ you can email us at [email protected]
What kind of brush hair; looks human
I have ink block from ww2
I know you this is an old video, but my question is, how do you know how much ink to pick up on the fude? I think the rain drops i either have too much it too little. Beautiful lesson. Sorry I'm 8 yrs behind. ❤
you can really soak the brush (80% up the hair) then stroke the ink stone to remove excess ink
🎉🎉🎉
I think my brush must be bad! What is it you are using? Mine stays mushed over with every dab and stroke and loses its point.
yes cheap brushes do that. a good beginner brush is only about $15 but anything cheaper than that will be difficult to use.
My raindrop shapes usually come out looking more like a triangle than an oval. Like an isoscelese triangle turned -45°. I'm not sure why, I'm hoping someone has a tip.
could be one or a few things: the brush (email a photo to [email protected] if you like), not enough ink on the brush, not bouncing enough to let the round part o the brush to touch the paper
I see, I will try different brushes and try to bounce them. I am using plain water on a special reusable kind of paper, where water appears black and then disappears after the paper dries. I didn't want to waste many sheets of paper when I am just beginning. Maybe this is the reason why, though. Sometimes the raindrops do come out the right shape, so maybe it is just my technique. I will keep practicing! Thank you so much for the reply!
@@BaikeiOrgどうもありがとうございました先生!!🙏
@@KRYoung_dev feel free to send us a video and we can advise
Thank you so much very happy to learn the great art I have subscribed
we appreciate that! hope you continue this wonderful journey
I’m interested in finding “representational “ artists who have incorporated Asian calligraphic styles/sensibilities in to their work. Can anyone point me in that direction?
sorry we are unaware of such an artist in Japan. If you find one, they likely will be poor at calligraphy as are many ink painters
Where can we get these worksheets?
Thanks..we sell for about $8.50 . Please contact us at [email protected]
Amazing work. I could spend a whole day in these galleries. See you soon!
Amazing!
thank you sir
very very clear this video.....helped me alot
background music is distracting
thanks for the advice:)
What kind of brushes do you recommend? I have trouble finding good brushes for calligraphy, the cheap ones fall apart and the expensive ones seem overpriced for what you get
We can provide a good starter brush. They're handmade in Hiroshima. Here's a link for your reference. baikei.cart.fc2.com/ca1/5/p-r-s/
Beautiful Japanese writing. I love that orange ink.
thanks^^ that is the ink teachers use in Japan for making samples and correcting works
Umbrella to me has always been a sign of what i call work man slavery mentality.
